I'm not one to give 5 stars very often. And usually, all Mexican joints are pretty much the same with a few variations. And we love Mexican food and can tell the difference. So... I can honestly say this is the best Mexican place we have ever found. Everything was superb. The wait staff was friendly. The hostess (whose name was Sherry and also happened to be the owner) was very accommodating and kind. The atmosphere was very nice with white tablecloths and subdued lighting and nice earth tones on the walls. The salsa was outstanding the chips were the best anywhere. Sort of a rough, stone-ground yellow chip that was excellent. My wife had the chimichanga which she described as delicious. I had the chicken enchiladas which were to die for. Generous portions. Good guac. We went on a Friday evening at 5:00 pm. By 5:30 all the tables were taken. Go early. Next time we want to try the flan. Oh, and when we asked for a box, our server brought us an entire order of more chips which he told us to box up as well. This is a hidden gem that you have to try. You won't be sorry.

Cactus Flower has always been a favorite of ours and not wanting to get all dressed up and fancy, we decided we wanted to keep it simple, be comfortable and enjoy some good food with another couple (who is like family 💗). And we weren’t disappointed! We each got something different (Tostada, Mahi tacos, Enchilada verde, Chicken quesadillas and the Mango shrimp appetizer) - every single thing was delicious! Johnny was a great server - friendly, humorous, and brought drink refills without being asked. Two of us ordered dessert (flan and gooey chocolate cake) - the flan was the best ever, and the cake, while tasty, wasn’t gooey. Johnny heard us discussing it and without a word, brought us a slice of raspberry cake which was not yet on the menu but was delicious (and gooey!). Yes, a wonderful ending to 2019! 😊🎉

While vacationing at Navarre Beach, a local friend recommended we try Cactus Cantina. We had 2 amazing meals during our week’s stay. The fresh guacamole and fish tacos (on flour tortillas for me) were to die for! We all loved our meals and the service was excellent!!

So…. Coming from a long walk on Navarre Beach and a long swim, was pretty hungry. I had read reviews about this restaurant, stating it was over priced but good, to its not really Mexican but gets the job done sort of fare.
My verdict: soo glad I stopped in. This eatery is located in a strip mall(what we Northerners call it), so it’s not a stand alone. Parking is adequate. Upon entry, in my still damp trunks, sandy flip flops and button down vacay shirt, I felt a tad under dressed. The staff were all smartly dressed in various black slacks, polo’s, skirts etc., and they took their friendly greeting of customers seriously. The floor was clean, swept, and had tasteful decorations of paintings reminiscent of a coastal Mexican beach getaway.
Was shown to my seat by a very polite hostess, and after washing my hands in a very tidy and clean restroom, Caitlin, with an effervescent smile and personality promptly took my order, and made heartfelt recommendations when I asked. Her service and attentiveness was spot on during the whole meal, with other customers as well as myself. In fact, the whole wait staff ran like a well oiled machine.
The menu was a tad on the high side especially for Mexican food, but in this eateries defense, pretty good reason. It’s fresh…and good…and well prepared and well presented. I’m somewhat of a foodie, I know good when I taste it. When they tell you they make the guacamole 4 times a day, O believe it. The salsa, homemade was delicious. The El Jeffe burrito I had that was stuffed with shredded chicken, beans, rice and other goodness was outstanding. Even the desert, which I ended up taking home was a hit.
Is it straight from your Tia’s kitchen with a spiciness that would have you chugging cervesas by the picture? No, why would it ?
What it is, is a very well intentioned and very success little place that makes good on its promise of serving fresh Mexican style food to a variety of palates.
Well done guys, see you next time!

We live in SE Texas where Tex-Mex is the norm but this place was SO, so good. VERY fresh toppings and the meat was so flavorful (pulled pork for me, fajita chicken for hubby). Delicious red Sangria. Went mid-week 11/17 in the afternoon during slower time and service was great, super friendly and helpful. Wish I could remember his name, sorry. Look forward to seeing y'all next visit 2022!!

The main reason we chose this place was because of all the good reviews, and they’re one of the few restaurants around to offer vegetarian options. The food was descent, but not great. The restaurant was crowded. They obviously do a good business. The employees were very friendly, and service was very good. The atmosphere was nice and casual. There is some festive art on all the walls from a local artist that can be purchased. Being from Texas, we are used to eating TexMex often. So, down to the food... the chips tasted like Tostitos and salsa just ok. The queso was slightly gritty in texture. When ordering we were asked if we wanted our queso mild or hot. We asked for hot. It tasted like some cumin was mixed in, but it never tasted spicy hot. Also, not impressed with the vegetarian version of the quesadilla. Taste was just ok... some grilled peppers, onions and cheese. Huge portion though. Husband said his shrimp chimichanga was just average. It satisfied our hunger, but was just ok for us. If we were to return we’d try something different from the menu.

I love the food here, the shrimp quesadilla is my favorite & a large serving. They aren’t stingy with the chips & salsa either. If you have gluten concerns, ask for Nicole. She was by far the most knowledgeable server I’ve encountered while dining with a friend with gluten allergies. She made the experience extra enjoyable.

We have come to Navarre for years and after reading the reviews wanted to give this place a try. We were very happy with our experience here. We did have to wait as we had a bigger group and it is smaller inside, but the service was great and the food was wonderful. The salsa had great flavor and most everyone enjoyed their meals. We had quesadillas the size of a pizza and my chimichanga was tasty and filling. My only complaint was the queso we ordered was extremely bland and some of the food needed a bit more flavor, but overall we were very pleased!

Vegan, vegetarian and omnivores were all happy with the food! Tortilla soup, nachos, tacos and quesadillas were all excellent. Cold inside, so bring a sweater! Lovely staff. Best restaurant on our trip to Navarre!

First impression was how polite and properly dressed for a restaurant the staff was. No one had short shorts or hanging out their clothes...just professional! Breath of fresh air considering everywhere else we ate this week. The food was delish and service was outstanding. I applaud the owner/manager....you have done well training a great crew of young adults.

Don't let the address keep you from enjoying a meal at Cactus Flower: it's located where you can see the little shopping center right off the highway (Navarre Parkway). Look for a sign that says "Island..." something or other. If you see Taco Bell, you are in the right area.
The menu is more California style; somewhat lighter, and no lard! Family friendly.
Being diabetic, I am thrilled when I can have a good Mexican meal and keep the glucose at a reasonable level: Chile Rellenos is a delicious dish and works for me, along with the chicken tortilla soup.

Cute decor, friendly staff. Chicken enchiladas were tasty, lots of cumin in sauce. Quesadilla with grilled chicken was good too, onions and peppers added to flavor, meat was a bit chewy. Very good chips and salsa. Bring a sweater or jacket, they keep it really cold in the restaurant.

We were so happy we chose this Cactus Flower Cafe for dinner during our first visit to Navarre. Everything was fresh and delicious. My husband chose the pork tenderloin medallions in verde sauce. It was tender enough to cut with a fork and it was amazing. I got the mango shrimp salad that was fresh and colorful. My son is vegetarian and many dishes could be made vegetarian. He chose the huevos rancheros and he said it was the best he had ever eaten. Highly recommend this place!

Service was great very friendly! I guess I'm spoiled since I've had great Mexican food my whole life. Very bland food! Needs more flavor and the queso was yucky, we sent it back. Verde enchiladas had to much flour base and again not tasty. Sorry to give this review but I'm a great cook and this was not good.

I wasn't sure about this place because of some bad reviews, but we were very pleased, with the food and service. I can't eat dairy, so they adjusted my order to accordingly which I appreciated. Food was awesome, everybody in our 14 person group loved it -- and we're from Texas, the land of TexMex! Best of all, the chips were fresh, not oversalted, and red sauce not ovely spicy. My tacos were also crunchy, not soggy at all. My daughter said that was the best burrito bowl she'd ever had! We will definitely go back next time we're in the area.
