It was excellent and Chef Andy is a genius! We did his Valentines menu and everything was next level and he was kind enough to give us the bear balloon for our daughter!

Have you ever felt that something was chasing you during the day, or you saw the same object several times a day but in different variations? Weird to say, but on my birthday this year, I was chased by an oyster... My husband and I...like food. We do a tasting menu for the new experience on special occasions. Initially, we booked the best restaurant in Naples for our liking, but a week ago, my husband asked if I wanted to switch it to a different, small restaurant with a tasting menu and good reviews. Enjoying my last oyster on a plate, I agreed, as I'm always open to trying something new. So, we ended up booking Hyde N Chic. I was excited. The birthday and something new and delicious were opened in front of me in a week. When we arrived in an area, I thought we had gotten lost. The promising chic restaurant was nowhere on the horizon. It was an empty open plaza with a few cars and a beautiful Mercedes with surprised-looking people leaving it. I felt worried, but the picture of stuffed oysters in my head calmed me. As we approached the restaurant, my husband noticed the door was locked. I noticed that the doormat and the area around it are very dirty. I don't like "unswept" entrances; it tells me a lot about the house and its people. The entrance should always be clean. Period. Suddenly, the door opened, and a smiling face of a chef was letting us in. I was about to pronounce the'' phew" relief sound when I suddenly got interrupted by the wave of the damp mold smell of the dirty mop that my brain refused to ignore. The black walls, unevenly hung pictures, empty tables (except one), and big objects covered with some white sheets "looked" at me from the kitchen. Three plates of oysters on some ugly ocean grass looked ignored on an empty table. We were granted the privilege of choosing a table, so we picked the big one by the window. Chef introduced himself and his wife, emphasized at least three times that he was raised in Germany (not sure why it was so important), and poured some very dry white wine as a present from the house. He then gave us a wine menu, and we discussed what we wanted to drink with our dinner. The wine on that menu seemed unfamiliar, though my husband knows a lot about wines. He would hear about the wine for $79. He checked on his phone, and the mystery opened at once. That $79 wine is $8.99 - $12.99 in any store that sells cheap wine. Meanwhile, the chef already showed up with the first course. I was not even surprised when he brought oysters. I was waiting for oysters. He put three tiny baby oysters with clear-red-orange sauce in front of me. I was about to complain in my head like my four-year-old about mini cupcakes when my husband said to the chef, who was about to put the other plate on his husband's side, showing with his hand on me: ''You might as well put them close to my wife as I don't like oysters." I got so excited again for a second, thinking about six oysters instead of three, but got interrupted AGAIN by the chef, who started to yell. (I blame the oyster because my exciting thoughts were interrupted frequently that night.) " I asked you several times if you have food allergies, and now you reject my food with your body language. It doesn't work this way in my place. I'm sick and tired of this stuff, like in Europe. I would rather you leave than mess up my kitchen. Take the food back to the kitchen (to the waiter). Out of my restaurant! Out! I don"t need your money (strange to hear from the person who charges 1000 times for the wine)" He yelled something else about the soup instead of oysters that I don't remember because, at that time, my brain was already grieving after three lost oysters. We, shocked and speechless, asked for a minute, then said a few words to the chef and left the place. While leaving, the same three oysters on an ugly ocean grass were lonely left on the table. Coincidence??? Don't think so.More

Came here with my GF for New Years. $160 pp, NYE tasting menu. Firstly, the place is tiny, in a strip- mall, next to a laundromat. We walked in and immediately smelled the odor of mold, fungus, Mr a dirty-mop. The courses were tiny. Took...at least 30 min between each course. We had told the chefs wife that we were on a time limit due to NYE. The chef Andy Hyde comes over, doesn’t even introduce himself and asks what our problem is. The was RUDE. He then proceeds to tap my GF on her shoulder as he walks away with his dirty hands. Then they decide skip our fourth course… When we ask what happened to the fourth course, he says we’re going to skip it. We told him we had paid upfront on Open Table for all five courses. He then tells us we can leave in the middle of our meal. Never met a more rude, nasty, horrible business owner in my life. This guy is a mess. The food is small and basic. And overall horrible experience. I would NOT recommend this place. So many better places in Naples. Bha Bha is one of our faves. They know how to behave there. Andy, we will make sure they we will never return, nor will anyone in our vast network across Naples. You need to realize that you don’t know who you are speaking to when you come out and ask us to leave. Your place sucks. Your food and staff, the same. And you as a business owner should be ashamed of yourself! Go clean your mops and mold. See the dirty forks below. NASTYMore

My husband and I took took friends to this restaurant on a Friday night a few weeks ago and were mortified that we brought others that also had to pay for this disappointing experience. Our bill ended up being almost $300 per person for 5...courses and the wine pairing. Not astronomical if things are top notch, but at that price point they really should be amazing from start to finish. And while the food was good, at this level I expect excellence from not just the food but also the experience. Greeting - no one to greet us at the door. Just a "Come on in and pick any table you want" from behind the counter. We were the first group to arrive for the night. We were a party of 4 and all the "4" tables were crammed in next to each other. Not great for the two 6 foot husbands. Had we known there would only be 2 other people that night we would have had taken the center table for 6 or had them rearrange a "4" table. They need to adjust the space. Have some tables of four where people can sit all on all sides. Server. She was lovely but did not seem to know much about the wine she was serving. Food - Most tasting menus serve an amuse-bouche while waiting. Not here First course - oysters - lovely, shrimp - lovely Second course - wild mushroom strudel - fine. I moved the lardons to the side - still too chewy Third course - The toothfish was excellent Fourth - the Waygu has a $30 upcharge which would be fine but my husband who travels to Japan frequently said it did not taste like Waygu he has often had before. hmmm. Lamb - served medium - a little overdone to my taste. The sauces were delicious. And while I enjoy olives, I had to move the tamponade to the side so I could taste the other flavors. Dessert - we ordered 2 for the table. At this price a small dessert per person should jut be included. Wine pairing - this really fell flat. Getting a wine pairing means each dish (not each course) should have a wine to match. All of us were given the same wine at each course even though we had different dishes. Furthermore they served us a red wine that had been recorked and refrigerated from the night before. We watched them nosily pump air back into the bottle to reopen it. The red wine was so cold when it came to our table condensation formed on the outside of the glasses. We did not meet the chef that night so maybe things were off and he was out of town. This place was good, but at this price point it should be outstanding. Definitely do not do the wine paring.More

This is not worth the money! The food was good but not worth the cost. The up charges also were more than expected and justified for the quality of the food. We went ahead with the wine pairing. Again, not worth the cost. The wait...staff was nice but inexperienced and not very knowledgeable about the food or wine. This is probably why they included the 20% gratuity. $600 for two people - just not worth it!!!More

We went there because of a recommendation from a friend. We expected an upscale experience, but found that the restaurant were more like a hole in the wall. In the door we were met by a light odour of mold, and a very noisy atmosphere....We ordered two glasses of champagne that were not cold. Also the following white wine was much too warm. As a compensation the red wine was ice cold. Unacceptable for a restaurant that offers wine pairing. Our first dish was oysters, that also was not chilled enough and had a strange consistence. In the following brazzino, we found bones, that never have happend to us before. For the main course I had short ribs, Unfortunately they were not medium rare but completely raw inside. Bleue, as the French would say. When the main course plates were taken away, we immediately had the bill on our table. When I asked, " why do you think we do not want dessert or espresso", the answer was, "the person making dessert is on spring brake and espresso we do not have". For this poor quality, this restaurant is severely overpriced, and cannot be recommended to anyone.More

My wife and I along with our friends had been trying to dine out together since months ago. Finally our day arrived. Babysitters on duty paved the way. Chef Andy Hydes March 2022 - 4 course tasting Menu lay before us. The night started off...with a glass of Laurent Perrier and Chef Andy's signature caviar. The caviar was served in a nice traditional tin can on a bed of smoked sturgeon cream made from the same fish that produced the caviar and some crispy taro chips. For my 1st course I had the hot potato n leek soup with escargot and lobster with grilled german sourdough. The texture of the soup was sublime silky, yet immensely satisfying. Needless to say we started out with a BANG! For my 2nd course I had the Wild Mushroom Strudel n bacon lardons. I think the chef used mostly shitake and not the black trumpets this time around. The pastry was flaky and the mushrooms had a nice meaty/umami flavor. The bacon lardon's were crunchy and just enough to pack a punch. I love shrooms so this was a shoe in for me. For my 3rd course I had the Halibut cooked on Binchotan Charcoal. This type of charcoal was new for me. Simply AMAZING - this fabulous fresh thick filet of beautiful flakey fish had a deep yet subdued, clean natural charcoal flavor. The skin was seared and crunchy and it was obvious this filet was cut from a large specimen. The artichokes were flash friend, crispy and featured an exotic north african touch with berber spice. The young ladies who served us did a fine job and were both attentive and amicable. Chef Hyde has been and continues to be the BEST Naples has to offer. He is world class and always brings something different to Naples fine dining scene. If you are looking for more of the same type of Naples cuisine (Italian, Floridean if such a thing exists in fine dining)....don't dine with Andy. However if you are looking for a proper champion's league, chef driven, michelin quality experience, Hyde N Chic is for you.More

After reading many reviews on this Chef and restaurant I was excited to try this dining experience. It was a prix fixe menu or Chef’s Choice. We had so many courses I think I’ve forgotten a few. We were greeted warmly by a young man...and Chef Andy. The restaurant is very small, cozy with large colorful paintings and a unique chandelier white tablecloths and many place settings of cutlery set at a pretty angle. Yes, it is in a strip shopping center near a laundromat and hair salon however once inside the restaurant the ambiance is of its own. I like supporting local Chef’s restaurants who are totally unique. This was a dining “experience” which happened over the course of several hours so I wouldn’t expect a quick meal. We each had a Chardonnay one from South Africa and the other a California and we both commented on the thin stemmed wine glasses which were perfect. We started with tuna tartare and avocado, then amberjack tartare with crunchy poppyseeds and a crispy gluten free puff. Delicious! We then shared oysters on the half shell with a spicy, sweet sauce and fresh caviar. Chef mentioned he had cooked for the Wine Festival this week and had bought pounds of caviar. Beautiful and Delicious! Next came a whipped creamy foie de Gras with tiny dollops of a blackberry coulis and toast tips. Next, melt in your mouth halibut with a sweet and savory sauce which was delicious! Next course, char grilled octopus on a bed of colorful sauces and quail which was tender and savory. Delicious! Lastly lamb chops in a sauce which was so rich and decadent that we wanted to ask for bread (haha we knew better) to slurp up the drippings. A small dollop of freshly mashed potatoes topped it off. Delicious! We had ordered dessert but decided to cancel it because we were too full. I really enjoyed this dining experience and the food was outstanding! It does take patience as stellar food takes time when there are 16 others dining. If you’re adventurous and enjoy special cuisine I highly recommend. Bon appetit!More

The absolute WORST service and rude chef I have ever experienced. If you laugh a tad too loud, he will send over a member of his “waitstaff,” who we later found out was someone he had to beg to work for him for the night…then...HE, Andy Hyde, will come to his counter and YELL louder than your table could have been that it was out of respect for the other guests! Well, we took up six seats, two tables of two next to us were friends of ours, which left maybe four more guests in this little dump of a restaurant attached to a strip mall laundromat… Bad move when you offended 10 locals to appease two tourists who complained about every dish they brought out. We had three courses in 4 1/2 hours! Not even our full meals! We all ended up cancelling our desserts and having our HORRIBLE main courses to go. I would NEVER RECOMMEND this place, based mainly on the horrible arrogance and treatment of a newby, strip mall chef! Followed by very sub-par overpriced food.More

As a follow up to the below review from Dec. 28th, we had quite possibly the worst dining experience at this establishment. To start we were a table of 4 and they sat us at a table for 8. This is a supposed to be...a 4 course tasting and 2.5 hours into the sitting we only had two courses come out. They skipped the third course and brought out the last course which had items that were not even on the menu given to us. We assumed they were just a slow establishment until we saw the chef yell at another patron. Things took a turn for the worse when the chef verbally abused us and made it seem that everything was our fault for their shortcomings. The chef/owner was combative and wanted to fight. He also had some expletive inappropriate words for an older patron. Food is good but does not make up for the actions of the chef/owner. The waitstaff was wonderful and not their fault.More

This has been the worst dining experience my family and I have ever have(if I could give 0 stars I would.)We have traveled to multiple countries and eaten at many high end restaurants and have never been so insulted by a chief like this. The...food took over an hour for each course to come out (it was a tasting menu with 4 courses to put into perspective). By the third course it had been two and a half hours and they gave us all the wrong order. At this point we were very disappointed and asked for the check and to leave. When the chief came out to talk to us he screamed at us and told us we could leave. He then said he was going to hold our credit card and charge it for the full amount even though we didn’t get 2 out of the 4 courses we asked for. He then would not talk to us again. After reviewing further complaints on google it seems that this chief can not take any criticism. So for you chief don’t even bother replying back you have lost a customer and our recommendation. I hope you find peace in your life. For all future restaurant customers LOOK ELSEWHERE!!!!More

As noted in title, the food here is excellent. VERY reasonably priced for a tasting menu (there were some upcharges, but there always are in such a menu and they were quite reasonable -- for example a $10 upcharge for caviar, $14 for desert). We...made it through 3 of the 5 courses in our tasting menu before we ran out of gas after nearly 3 hours. We've experienced many tasting menus but can honestly say none have taken an hour per course. While it seemed some other tables were moving a little faster than ours, it did seem to be a common issue and as far as we could tell no one else minded. Maybe because they were all drinking multiple bottles of wine and we just don't drink that much. Wait staff very friendly but seemed overwhelmed in keeping up with just the wine orders, let alone the food. Would love to see this place succeed as the care shown by the chef in planning, preparing and presenting the food was evident and excellent -- they just need some help with operations management. And a suggestion: Have 2 set seating times and a plan to serve within the allotted time. Seemed like there was only 1 seating on a Saturday night and don't see how that is sustainable in the long run.More

Wow, I wish this was a five star review - and based on the food it could have been! Chef/owner Andy is a very talented chef and what we ate was wonderful. The experience and service (driven by the food delivery times from the kitchen)...were absolutely among the worst I've ever experienced in a better restaurant. We arrived on time and ordered a bottle of champagne and then ordered our four courses from the tasting menu. No food was brought to the table for over 30 minutes when we asked if there was some bread. We were told there was no bread service and the reason was that the chef wanted to get bread from this fantastic baker, but he couldn't work out a financial arrangement. Trust me something would be better than nothing, especially when the delivery of food was being paced at a course per hour. This is a tasting menu, so each course was a few bites (as would be expected). The cap of the night was watching the largest table in the small restaurant arrive almost two hours after us and being served four courses, specially prepared just for them, by the time we were on our third course! We asked for our check and left before the fourth course. Chef Andy should recognize that he needs someone to manage his restaurant and he should continue to prepare his culinary creations. Running a restaurant isn't his talent, preparing great food is. What a shame.More
