Very disappointed. Traveling with my husband to Miami for the first time. This place came highly recommended and was the first place we booked dinner reservations super excited to try. Well you can say we were more than disappointed when we arrived to find the...inside of the restaurant close for a private function and the table we were given was outside but next to the door that the staff would access to bring stuff out. We were told that was our only option so we didn't stay. We were very disappointed since we were not told we would have to eat outside and with it being Spring Break it was chaotic and loud in addition to being placed next to an operating door.More

My husband and I celebrated my birthday at “A fish called Avalon” and the service was awesome. Manny was great, as was his assistant server (I apologize I don’t remember his name) Tony (the musician was very sweet and sang happy birthday to me). The...portions were generous. My husband had the filet and I had the snapper risotto. They also saved us a beautiful table outside. Such fun ambiance and they also took our photo in front of the classic car! It’s a must when in South Beach. Their attention to detail was not unnoticed. Thank you.More

Eaten at Fish called Avalon quite a few times over the years and it has never disappointed before. This time we had little time so tried the happy hour at the Rocket Bar. My burrata was lacking the creamy centre; more mozzarella than burrata. But...the tomato coulis was very tasty and the presentation couldn’t be faulted. I could have used more than 4 bite sized crostini though. DH’s mussels were very good - he is a big mussel fan. The drinks menu on the website seems to be out of date. The actual menu was simpler; $5 off cocktails and glasses of wine but no bottles of wine available. May be you could update your website, guys?More

This is consistently one our favorite restaurants in South Beach. The food quality, live outdoor music, and hospitality are all excellent. We visited twice in 10 days and Vita was our server once and she was very affable, efficient, and personable. Cocktails and the fish...dishes were also excellent and their key lime pie is sublime! We also had another server on another occasion whose name I shall not mention and unfortunately, he was devoid of any personality whatsoever... However, given the excellent food and superb outdoor entertainment, we look forward to returning and ask for Vita!More

Arrived for an early dinner. The receptionist was very courteous and we were seated right away. Unfortunately the Happy Hour only happens at the small bar on the right side of the lobby and is not extended to diners. The food was excellent and very...tasty. An absolute must is the key lime pie for dessert. However the service is close to non existent. None of the staff introduced themselves, it felt they are jaded, since the tourists will dine here no matter what. Overall only an ok experience. With a mandatory 20% gratuity added to the bill, the expectation is to receive a matching service.More

Anyone who spends time on South Beach knows that the Ocean Drive restaurants are hustling for customers, the food is often mediocre, and the severs will hope you don't notice the tip is already included in the bill... ...so imagine how pleased we were with...the Avalon when we had dinner there last night. We had excellent service by Marvin and the team. The presentation of the food was glorious. The quality of the meal was divine. Even the host (didn't catch your name California) was a delight, and the manager was on site and clearly cared. Topping off the great evening, at payment, it was made clear the tip was already included - so I didn't feel hustled at any point. Thank you for a great night. You didn't know this, but we were celebrating our 10-year anniversary, and you made it better!More

I had a reservation and was quickly seated. I’m not a big eater and when the waiter recommended a starter and half a main, I thought it was great. Together with my starter I ordered a glass of rose. My starter, warm scallops which was...excellent, arrived within minutes and my wine was no where in sight. It was only delivered after prompting. My (half) main was tuna and I was slightly surprised when they served me snapper. They immediately took it back and after some minutes I got my full portion of tuna. At that time I couldn’t be bothered so accepted the plate and paid for a full portion (which is also what I was served). I declined desert and went to Joe’s for a slice of key lime pie for takeaway. That one was amazing!!More
