LArge place with 2 bar areas, small menu and a band. Tables are tiny, food was good. We went early but had a reservation, wasn't crowded before 7.

Nice atmosphere for live music. Plenty of tables and selections of good and drinks. A bit expensive for what you get. Service was a a little slow. They seemed more interested in the music then being attentive. First live music place is Miami I went...to so perhaps others are better.More

We took my mother for her 76 birthday. Our server Dunia was spectacular. She was on top of everything and made our night extra special. The musicians sang my mom a song for her birthday and invited her to dance on stage. The mojitos were...great The food was spectacular! The pork and the short ribs were great and the vegan picadillo was delicious. The portions were very big to the point we had to brig leftovers The deserts were spectacular the bread pudding, flan and waffles came with a sparkler and the servers sang happy birthday I recommend this place to everyone that wants the Miami Cuban experience. This is a little Havana must when in MiamiMore

My family and I booked a Disney Cruise vacation and stopped her for dinner the night before our cruise. It was THE best decision we made! The servers name may have been Elinor?? (I think) But the food was amazing! The quality was amazing, the...drinks incredibly delicious. I’m glad I’m writing this review after going on the cruise- We had the oxtails, chicken, and beef dinners and everyone was exceptional. Guess what?? It tasted better the next day!!! As if!!! I seriously could have skipped the cruise and just ate dinner here every night of my vacation!More

Highly recommend Cafe La Trova. The live entertainment was excellent. The staff was entertaining, the bar tenders randomly startled playing instruments and performing together. I do suggest making a reservation and paying the additional $ for a seat by the stage. Great all around, already...planning my next visit.More

We had a post meeting business dinner with people from PA to Germany and everyone loved the food. The drinks were very nice! And the music on a Wednesday was lovely, not too loud but memorable.

We visited Cafe La Trova for a business dinner in August and it was incredible. The waitstaff was friendly and welcoming. The ambience of the restaurant made us feel like we were on the streets of Havana and the live music didn't hurt either. The...food was incredible. I ordered the Queso Frito, Ropa Vieja, and Flan as part of the Miami Spice menu. It also included either a Daiquiri or Old Fashioned; both were excellent. We'll definitely be back to explore more of what the menu has to offer!More

I had read about Cafe La Trova and its bar scene in a magazine and wanted to try it. Hard to get reservations so I booked two weeks in advance for the weekend. Went for the 7am seating. The location is SW 8th Street (Calle...Ocho) which is a road worthy of a drive by locals or tourists. Arriving at Cafe La Trovia, I was underwhelmed by the building and parking area but once inside, it was magical. It's like being transported to Havana in the 1950's. (I'd imagine having never been to Havana). The bar and stage are inside the door. Beautiful bar with well dressed bartenders. The stage is across from the bar and there are some tables around it. I believe these are premium tables you pay extra for. We were seated right away in the main dining room against the wall which made it difficult to see the stage because of a half antique car that is between our table and the stage. The antique car was cool but the lack of sightline to the stage was disappointing. But this did not ultimately distract from the great time we had. The cocktails were inventive and delicious (we tried a few); The waitress and the service was first rate and like most cuban restaurants, the food comes out quick and hot. We tried the cuban sandwich empanada which we all agreed was the best. We also tried the lechon sliders which were also good. They also offered as a special a seafood based app on a tostones however we all agreed it lacked the flavor of the other apps. For dinner two of us had the Chupe De Mariscos which was delicious. Another in our party had the short rib which was also excellent and the 4th, the only cuban in our group, had Rabo Encendido Pasta (braised oxtail) ..oxtail is a traditional cuban dish. It was very good but oxtail for me is an acquired taste I haven't quite acquired. But our cuban in the group liked it and when she brought some home to her 87 year old cuban mother, she thought it was great. Again, the service was excellent and the waitress offered helpful suggestions that were all spot on. Although we were full at the end of our meals, we were not ready to leave the party atmosphere inside the restaurant with the band playing and the vibe upbeat. So we ordered the bread pudding dessert which was really nice. After dinner drinks as well. Cafe La Trova is a great addition to the Miami dining scene and while going to the traditional Cuban restaurants further down 8th street is fun, Cafe La Trova is really an immersion into the true Cuban spirt of good food and fun times. Highly recommend it for locals like us or tourists who want to experience Cuban culture, a fun atmosphere and good food.More

Outside of my Mom's exquisite Cuban home cooking, this restaurant is my go-to for excellent, authentic Cuban Cuisine. The food is exceptionally delicious and true to the real Cuban flavors, spices and style of cooking. Even when they put a twist on the traditional dishes,...that twist is creatively delicious. Take my word for it, there is no better restaurant for Cuban Food in Miami - most other Cuban Restaurants are far from being genuine. La Trova is the REAL DEAL - totally on point and DELICIOUS! The drinks are amazing as well. The bartenders are extremely entertaining and superb mixologist, especially when it comes to traditional Cuban drinks. Then to seal the deal, the music and atmosphere will transport you to tropical paradise of majestic Cuba. Be transported by flavor, drinks and music, believe me you won't regret your visit to La Trova. It is simply the BEST!More

What a GREAT dining experience!!! We took a short Uber ride from a downtown hotel to celebrate a birthday and enjoy delicious Cuban food/amazing music!! This review has more exclamation marks than I have written in my other 650 plus reviews!! The waitstaff and bartenders...are personable, helpful and FUN! The setting is like out of a movie and the food….top notch served promptly absolutely flavorful and huge portions. The singing staff brought a dessert board with a sparkler for the birthday guy and then the band started playing the BEST Cuban music! Wish we lived closer to this gem!More

4.2⭐️ I’ve been to this place before taking pics — a recommendation from a Cuban friend who knows the chef. One of the better Cuban places in Miami. From the outside doesn’t seem much, but the inside is charming; beautiful Cuban-themed interiors and welcoming staff,...which is quick and kind. This time we only went with appetizers and coffee—good stuff with a modern twist. Cocktails are a must since they are the bomb! You can't go wrong with any. I am looking forward to sharing more photos and recommendations.More
