Toucan's was destroyed during Hurricame Michael. It no longer exists. We have not heard of definite plans for rebuilding

Hurricane Michael destroyed Mexico Beach last October. The Toucan was wiped away by the wind and water. Not sure it will ever return.

This is review is from our trip last summer. It was a nice place to enjoy the beach while getting something to eat &/or drink. Because of Hurricane Michael, Oct. 10, 2018, Toucan's On The Beach, was destroyed.

Wanting to support this area financially this summer by visiting, but don’t want to get too close to get in the way. Is there a way to make plans for a summer visit near the area?

Please keep your eyes on the situation in Mexico Beach. The city is trying very hard to recover as most (almost all) the town was destroyed. Toucans is down, for the time being. Hopefully, it will be rebuilt and return to all it's former glory.

It's going to be rebuilt, thank you!

There is nothing left visiting in Mexico Beach. Toucan's Restaurant, the main attraction for me in the past, was obliterated by Hurricane Michael, along with the public bathroom next to it, so there is nowhere to go on the beach anymore. Even the gas station...that sold ice and beer across the street was demolished, along with most of the beachfront houses. If this beach town wants to come back, it had better set up some portable toilets along the beach immediately, because daytrippers have no toilet facilities available to them any more. I planned to spend the day on the beach, but because there were no toilets, I drove on to Apalachicola instead.More

Toucan's was an amazing restaurant right on the beach. We sat out back and had dinner only feet from the ocean. We hope Toucan's is rebuilt. We can't wait to come back.

The food is average and a little pricey. Great beach atmosphere and the food was good, as mentioned. But I couldn't help but turn my attention to the ceiling fans above our table and other tables. The breeze from the fans felt good on such...a hot afternoon, however, those metal fans were so dusty and nasty. I started to imagine how much dust we all were breathing and how much dust was getting onto our food. Toucan's: Please note that it is not just how good your food is or the atmosphere, it is also about cleanliness and keeping it safe for your patrons to eat. I would indeed go back to your restaurant, but I would look up at the fans first to see if they are clean.More

I understand the draw to go here, it's a neat looking place right on the beach with a totally beachy vibe. We ate here twice on our visit to the area. First time in the day, they had happy hour and two for one drinks....They were slightly watered down, had margaritas. Service was ok, food was ok. The second visit was at night, thought they would be way busier for a Saturday. Service started out good, then the waiter had a large table seated. We had to tell him our company were out of drinks. Had ribs, they were 'OK', nothing to write home about and could have been hot, which they were not. The location is the best part of Toucans. It's not the worst, but not up to par on what it could be!More
