I have been here many times for sunset cocktails but not to dine as it is very expensive. This year we decided to celebrate Valentines a day early and avoid the crowds and price fix. We began with cocktails, the rosemary cosmo sounding wonderful, but honestly I could not taste the rosemary. Our server must have been new because he did not have a very good grasp on what the specials were. He mentioned an appetizer he said was eggplant parm topped with tuna...what? Then he said "oh wait, topped with burrata". We did not feel that he explained any of the specials correctly. He was nice but needs a bit more training. I had also asked for 2 drink menus so we all could all look over the drinks, as the list is extensive. He never brought it and also removed our wine menu, which we needed, said he would bring it back later, Must be a menu shortage! So not the service we were expecting. However the food was wonderful and I will be back again and again. The ravioli is so delicate and delishious. The flounder dish was the Best piece of fish I have ever had, although I did ask for xtra browned butter which the server never brought. I flagged down a food runner and she brought it for me, although it was cold? Oh well. So a bit of a mixed review but that fish saved the day!

We went to this restaurant on February 20 to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and wanted a special location. We were not disappointed!!
The food was fantastic! I had fresh caught grouper and my wife had the ribeye. Both were perfect. We sat outside and watched a colorful sunset. And they provided a personalized dessert for the birthday lady.
Some might say the restaurant is a little pricey, but it was an extremely nice restaurant decor. And it is Marco Island, after all..... So you expect to pay a little more, but it was worth it.
And the service was wonderful.

We always come to Sal e Pepe at least once when visiting Marco Island, and we've never been disappointed. Service, cocktails, and food are always top-notch. The menu is limited and changes frequently, so I recommend taking a look at the menu before visiting if you are a finicky eater. That said, if you find something to your liking, you can rest assured Sal e Pepe will flawlessly prepare and serve your meal.

The meal started out with a bread basket that was less than mediocre. Very bland. When we I asked for salt and pepper we were given a salt and pepper shaker. I have never seen an expensive restaurant not offer fresh ground pepper. With the pasta, no Parmesan cheese was offered. The $16 salad was the spring mix that you buy in the grocery store in the plastic container, A few thin slices of apple and a very small amount of goat cheese. The dressing was very bland. The polo was very juicy but lacking any memorable flavor, The atmosphere is beautiful but the food definitely leaves you wanting. The menu is very limited with only a few entrées. They add an 18% gratuity and when presented with the bill the server tells you if you would like to leave a bigger tip that would be fine.
I am sorry to have to write this review but I felt I had no choice

This was my 4th time at Sale E Pepe. We have always enjoyed the food there, so we were looking forward to a wonderful meal. I am sad to say we were very disappointed today. When a restaurant is as expensive as this one, you expect exceptional food and service. The service was okay. Our waiter was being trained and tried his best, but dirty plates were left on the table a bit too long.
I could deal with minor service issues, what I won't excuse is the food. The menu was very limited, so there wasn't a lot to choose from. There wasn't anything that my husband wanted to order. The special offered today, Encrusted Haddock over lentils was dry and not tasty at all. If you wanted a salad, it cost extra and so were any vegetables to accompany the Haddock. The Ravioli with Pesto and Smoked Cherry Tomatoes did not taste freshly made. They were dry and not enjoyable. I ate two and left the rest. The Frito Misto was good and the Pear Salad wasn't bad. The filet mignon was cooked appropriately, but it was a very small piece of meat, yet they charge $50.00 for it. This wasn't the meal we were expecting on Father's Day.
When we received the check they added an 18% "Service Charge." They charged us sales tax on the service charge. Had we been permitted to just leave our customary 20% tip there would have been no sales tax added on. I know that in some restaurants when there is a larger group dining together that it is the norm to add an automatic tip. There were only three of us dining, so I don't know why we were told how much the tip was supposed to be and that we had to pay sales tax on it.
I don't think we will be going back there anytime soon. It is too expensive to be served food that isn't exceptional. I don't normally take the time to review restaurants, but I felt strongly enough about what we experienced today to take the time to do this.

My wife and I went Sale e Pepe with another couple to celebrate Valentines Day. The only thing on the menu was a prefix 5 course Valentine Day special that was priced out as $165.00 per person. The atmosphere was beautiful, the view was fantastic. and the service is beyond any place else, that you would dine at. They were very attentive during our sitting. I disliked that the choices were limited as something’s I could not eat as I was allergic to crab meat. I had to have the Moscato Soup. Then for my Primi or first dinner I had to decide on the Pheasant Stuffed Ravioli. It was just ok I only ordered it because there was no alternative because I dislike scallops that were stuffed into a ravioli. For my second course dinner I had the Honolulu Tuna that was excellent.. When it came time for desert I had the Tiramisu, that was very rich. On my way back home my stomach wasn’t right, I could not sleep, I felt very nauseous and forced myself to release what was in my stomach, yes my whole dinner came up. I gave this rating 3 stars because of the service and views that should had been 5 stars but the food did not even rate to be 1 star and I had eaten at many restaurants around the world.

the name of this place should be undeserved pretentiousness. lovely decor. fair looking menu but even there they emphasize where things come from and almost none locally, nor Italy. service was horrible, the white wine was brought at room temperature if you didn't put it on ice it would have been bad, he also brought the wrong bottle of wine, flashed the label at me in low light, and spoke unclearly behind a mask. since I ordered with both the name and bin number there was no reason to get it wrong but he yelled at me that it was my fault. the veal was way overcooked, dry, and nearly tasteless. the rest of the food similarly ill-prepared. and get this there is a mandatory 20% gratuity which is only mentioned in the very base of the menu way too late to do much about.

We visited this souther Italian restaurant during our vacation as it had great reviews.
Ambience and the server reinforced that this is a going to be a good dinner.
BUT NO
From appetizer to main course food was bad bad and bad, probably the worst dinner of my life.
In appetizers salad leaves were shriveled, broccolini was soaked in oil with no flavaor. Calamari was just ok
Our pasta was bottle of olive oil. Haha. That’s true. We requested for a vegetarian pasta with red sauce and vegetables
There were no vegetables and some pasta with red sauce and layers and layers of oil. And that was after requesting easy on oil.
Most of all there was no taste, no salt no pepper.
So travelers please be advised that this restaurant has a great ambiance but ZERO taste in food

i'm not sure if it's because of the covid but menu was surprisingly small... I ordered an italian dish with clams and didn't eat the clams and in general felt the food was below what was advertised. The outdoor setting at sunset is however spectacular. The wine list is also one of the best i've seen in the area. because of the wine and atmosphere i'd definitely give it another shot but the food did not blow me away.

Amazing food, above and beyond service, and what a beautiful place to sit outside. Keeping mind this was our last restaurant visit before COVID-19 in mid-March started closing everything I couldn't have imagined a better place to be our last restaurant.
Also want to point out the honesty of our waiter Vincenzo. When walking out he approached me and pointed out that I had tipped on a bill that already included 18% service charge. Not sure why they added an 18% service charge on top of a $300 bill as it was only myself, wife, and our two kids. But at least he pointed it out to us when we walked out and that was very much appreciated.
Also important was that everybody was very nice to both our kids who were only 5 and 7 and occasional that's not very much appreciated in the nicer restaurants. Was totally no issue at Sale E Pepe.

We entertained a party of 9 last night and everyone totally enjoyed their entrees. The food and service was first rate and the bill was extremely reasonable for the amount we all ate and drank. I would highly recommend it if you want an elegant night out on Marco Island.

My wife and I dined at Sale e Pepe Saturday, 10/24. We come to Marco 2-3 times annually and always make a visit to Sale e Pepe. This visit we dined at the bar. The food, as always, was superb. We had the Formaggi, cheese plate which we very much enjoyed, three cheeses (ricotta, gorgonzola and parmesan, as well as honey, chutney and a variety of breads. I had the flounder and my wife had the halibut, and we shared a half portion of the pappardelle. All wonderful.
We were served by Okan, our first meeting with him. We love the food, the ambiance and the view from Sale e Pepe, but the quality of the service is really why we keep coming back. Okan was attentive but not intrusive and made excellent cocktails.
In the past, we have been served by Marco and Ivan behind the bar. Watching them perform their craft behind the bar was like watching a ballet; both mastercraftsmen. Now, Ivan is manager and Marco also manages. There was a wedding in progress, requiring the attention of both, Nevertheless, Ivan came over to welcome us and Marco took the time (not easy to do with all his responsibilities with the wedding) made a point of welcoming us an even came by the bar to make us a cocktail. This caliber of people is rare in the service industry.
We will continue to dine at Sale e Pepe at least once each visit to Marco, because of the food, the setting, but mostly because of the quality of the service.

A beautiful location and impressive as you enter. We are outside which is a beautiful view. Dinner started good, but the service fell off quickly. Not what you would expect for the prices. Too much concentration on the high maintenance table next to us. Second cocktails ordered after appetizers but didn’t arrive until after main entrees we’re delivered. Never offered the freshly grated cheese for those who got pasta and black pepper grind was offered when we were 2/3 done. Nice place and good food, but for the price you should be getting a much higher level of service.

The first thing to know about Sale e Pepe is that the restaurant is located in the back of the beautiful Marco Ocean Beach Resort and you will not get in without a reservation. Why? Because the place is phenomenal and word is out! One of the best authentic Italian dinners my wife and I have ever had. The menu is not huge and that’s by design. Expect 4-5 salads to choose from and a handful of entrees to consider along with an incredible wine list and great bourbon selection. Service is 5 star with servers who greet you by name and truly want you to have a great experience. Meals are presented simultaneously and the chef makes a round greeting guests. The bread basket they bring out is full of scratch-made breads that are to die for. We sampled homemade gelatos for dessert and they were also top notch. This is a beautiful restaurant with a stunning dining room and outdoor deck and both dining areas are very romantic. Meals are pricey, but not obnoxious in my opinion. While there were some kids there, the restaurant is mainly full of adults. Give it a try… you won’t leave disappointed!

This is a short review.
Yes the food is very good and the restaurant is lovely.
That said the food no longer justifies the price OR the attitude.
My wife and I (and family members) have been going for a few years and the change in hospitality has declined.
I notice if we go when business is slow we received proper service for a restaurant in this price/style range. When we’ve gone during busy times or when business was back the treatment was different.
I’m not the typical old/grey haired/golf pants wearing patron but my money is no different.
It’s easy to see how they treat patrons when they need your business and when they do not.
There are many “good” restaurants in the area.
No need to be treated poorly especially when paying $600-$800 dollars for a dinner for 2.
