About
Enjoy a delicious fresh Florida seafood meal inside the quaint dining room, on the outdoor covered deck or under the ancient Buttonwood Trees overlooking picturesque Sarasota Bay. Farm to fork, gulf to table and pasture to plate. It's waterfront dining with a unique atmosphere. Voted #1 place to Dock and Dine with our own private 14 slip dock. There is no place quite like the Mar Vista for real Florida dining. Note: As a beach-front restaurant, we follow the same policies as the beach and cannot accommodate pets. However, we do allow Service Animals.

# of us went out to lunch at this cute restaurant. We chose to eat outdoors, under shelter ( not under the trees). We had a lovely view of the water, and it was comfortable, even though it was in the high 80's with humidity...that was uncomfortable. The tables were 6 feet apart with a notice posted nicely asking that the tables not be moved as they were apart for social distancing, which we very much appreciated! We ordered 2 appetizers for the table the taters and the calamari and they were so good! the taters were creamy and the sauce that accompanied it were totally enjoyable. Each of us ordered entrees ( and yes we all tasted what each person ordered lol) I had crab cakes that were wonderful - so full of crabmeat that I could only finish one! They will spoil you with the amount of crab. I was used to getting some that had so many other things added that it was hard to taste the crab, not here! The cheese grits were so creamy I wish I ordered a larger serving. the cucumber salad was refreshing My hubby had the seafood trio and he loved it, everything had great taste and he finished all of it ( except the zucchini - I enjoyed that because, well he doesn't each anything that is green lol) Our friend had flounder with green friend tomatoes and she enjoyed it as well. We did not order dessert or alcohol. our bill , with tip was 145, but we felt it was well worth it, given the quality of the food and the atmosphere. Our waitress was lovely and made sure the appetizers came out first and we had time to enjoy them before she brought out the main course. The restaurant was clean and comfortable. We will be back next year when we return. It was an enjoyable time.More

My husband and I enjoyed a great lunch outdoors under the trees overlooking the bay. It was a really hot day but there are big fans that keep the air moving with a gentle mist and kept us very comfortable. All the staff were wearing...masks both inside and out. The tables were socially distanced and the feeling was very conducive to enjoying the meal and the experience. The wait staff is very attentive and the food came out quickly. The fish tacos and soft shell crab sandwich were both delicious. We watched several boats pull right up to the beach or at the dock to pickup their take out orders. Really beautiful spot with terrific food, we will definitely come back!More

Received a tip from a local Realtor about this restaurant. We ate lunch at Mar Vista Dockside Bar on 13 Aug 21. We were with friends who also raved about the food. My wife had the Blackened Grouper. I had fried Grouper Taco’s. Our server...was Chase who provided prompt and friendly service. Chase help us navigate selections from the menu. You must have the key lime pie. It was very fresh and simply delicious. The food was very affordable and the scenery on the water was great.More

Stayed in Longboat Key for 6 days and ate here twice! The chowder is one of the best I have tasted. The portion can easily be shared by two to three people. There is seating indoors or outdoors under a canopy of trees (was advised...by staff that the flies outdoors could be a nuisance sometimes). Would highly recommend lunch and dinner there.More

This restaurant was recommended to us by our tour guide from Segways by the Bay on Anna Maria Island. We enjoyed a very nice lunch in their outdoor dining area which is under a beautiful canopy of trees and is situated by the water, so...offers some pretty views. We enjoyed our drinks and lunch and the service was friendly and efficient. Drinks a bit pricey but not unexpected for the area, lunch prices were average to higher, again being in a popular tourist area, not overly surprising. Though red tide issues in the area made waterside dining a bit less pleasant we were able sit under an outdoor fan and still enjoy the ambience of the area. Would return if in the area again and would recommend the restaurant to others.More
