My husband and I went for lunch and both ordered the chicken fajitas after polishing off their delicious chips and salsa assortment. The food was very tasty. Service started out great but then fizzled by the end of our meal. We had to flag down the waitress twice and waited a very long time for our check. We have visited... More

After much hype and local advertising I had my palate set for some exciting south-of-the-border fare. While it wasn't dreadful, it was painfully average. The menu indicated delicacies outside of the norm, but average restaurant chain food was the reality. I would not recommend and will not revisit.

Been here several times with family and friends. I still keep coming back to this place. No one really comes close to the food. This last time the service was the only drawback. The waitress was more interested in the table in front of us, then in our table. I think she was at our table three times. I waited... More

This place is very large and loud. Good for large groups and serve large plates of food. Food tasted very good and they had dos equines on tap. Would come here again.

My family and I eat here quite often, our favorite place to eat and frequent here on average 4 times a month. Being from Texas it's hard to find good quality comparable Mexican food but Abuelo's is that place! The food is always fresh and hot and yes even close to closing time! You can dine inside or on the... More

The food is the only reason for the three stars. Service was on a siesta and the atmosphere looked more like cheap Tuscan with a Mexican themed mural. Chips were the same paper thin, tasteless style served at Chilis just not as heavily salted. Two baskets of chips was nice but the three salsas served with the chips had such... More

Best mexican restaurant in Lakeland . Can be loud when crowded but good food for the price. I like the enchalida and quest the most along with the papas

Food is good, too. My husband doesn't generally like Mexican food, but he was pleased with my selection for him as well.

Good selection of Mexican food. Service is good. Can be a long wait especially on weekends. They do have "call ahead seating" - which may help reduce the wait a little. Bar is good but sometimes a little sticky and crowded.

Real Mexican food is a feast for the senses. From colorful peppers to the sounds of sizzling fajitas all the way to that incredible flavor. Each mouthful is just as much a result of the freshest ingredients as it is a result of the chef's expertise. Abuelo's offers diners the opportunity to experience real Mexican food, combining authentic, made from scratch classic dishes with the rich, subtle flavors of coastal and interior Mexican cuisine. Our executive Chef Luis Sanchez has spent decades perfecting our menu, and we boast a wide selection of wood-grilled fajitas, enchiladas, tacos, chile rellenos or Abuelo's unique House Specialties (depending on your location). To compliment your meal, our expert bartenders are masters at crafting signature favorites, including a wide variety of margaritas and swirls.
