We've lived here for over 13 years and never knew how great this meat market is. We bought a couple of their 14 oz strip steaks and they were better than the steaks we've bought mail order from a famous New York butcher for twice the price. Super high quality. If you're jonesing for a proper prime steak, stop by Fish Tales. You won't be disappointed. They also have an amazing fish/seafood market and other essential grocery items to accompany your purchase. Only open M-F so plan ahead for the weekend.

After a morning fishing, we brought our filleted fish here, and they had several suggestions for us. We chose a family style platter with fried and grilled fish. Service was good and the sides of coleslaw and fries were perfect. It's an informal, friendly, casual place, a d we were glad the people at the Marathon Lady recommended it.

We came here twice for lunch during our 2-week stay. The first time the service was great and the female owner was super talkative and helpful. Food was incredible! Got this Bavarian blackened sandwich. Yum. BEST coleslaw I have ever eaten. A good portion and I ate mine and my husband's. Best I have had since my dad, who was a coleslaw expert died). And good (not wonderful) Key lime pie (3.5 stars--we rated about 20 different pies throughout the keys, this was in the middle of the list). Very happy with food and with service (server was completely quiet but did good on refills). Second time wasn't quite as magical. Female owner was distracted and borderline rude. Service was also not great, had to flag him down twice for refills. Kind of forgot about us. Adult son and husband were happy with their sandwiches (I think my son got a chicken sandwich and my husband the same blackened sandwich). I got their special, which was chunks of snapper. Very tasty if a tiny bit dry). Same awesome coleslaw. Got a mint chocolate ice cream mud pie thing. Very tasty. Overall, our favorite food in the Keys (and we ate out multiple times a day up and down the Keys, so we know!).

Both the grilled and fried were dry and over-cooked and portions were small. Went away hungry. Wouldn’t recommend as there are much betters places to eat. Waitresses never checked to see how our food was and if we were enjoying meal.

I want to first check to make sure you are reviewing Fish Tales Market & Eatery as my staff is always very good about checking on all of our customers to make sure everything is ok?! We pride ourselves on good service. Also, if you were in fact at Fish Tales and had a bad meal, I'm very sorry, as yes our waitstaff should have checked and then we could have redone your meals (I am still surprised that they wouldn't have checked)? Again, I apologize for the service, and will make sure I talk to staff. But I think we have great servers....

On our way from Key west to Miami, we wanted a place to stop after 7 mile bridge. We've eaten seafood of some kind our entire vacation. My husband ordered the blackened Mahi Mahi, with beans and rice. He and I like to share our meals, I would say one of the best prepared fish we had, and the beans were a perfect accompaniment. I ordered the fried shrimp, with fries, and some of their house dipping ranch, blue cheese, Italian combo, and loved it! The shrimp were the nicest, largest that we've had in our time in Florida! Everyone there worked together making sure our needs were met, and the food was good. I saw many people that were obviously known to the place, and that shows how well the business is run! Not fancy, but excellent food.

Great seafood - this place is a small eatery - totally worth a lunch or dinner. They serve excellent fish platters (catch of the day) and sandwiches. The sandwiches are served with coleslaw and fries. We had the grilled Mahi and fried snapper in our 2 visits. Food was very fresh, piping hot and totally worth the visit. Do take a pitstop.

We found Fish Tales Market and Eatery last year, 2021 Very happy to see the same owners this year. We have eaten there twice on this year's visit. The lunch menu is and delicious at a lower cost than the dinner menu , we have been there for both. The food is fresh and very delicious, the staff is very friendly and keeps one's beverage topped off. Every meal has been terrific. We highly recommend you stop in and enjoy a delicious meal and wonderful service.

This is our favorite place to eat in Marathon, lunch or dinner! Lunch fish sandwiches are amazing, simple but the great fresh fish, perfectly seasoned and cooked. Dinner dishes are the same, just larger portions in dinner dishes. Sides are great too, fries and coleslaw.

My husband and I stopped in for lunch. Our food was very good and the staff was pleasant. I had a salad with grilled shrimp while my husband had a grilled fish sandwich. Both were generous portions and very fresh. During our stay in Marathon, my husband had made several purchases for the week. The variety of fresh fish was perfect and the home-made smoked fish dip was outstanding. We would highly recommend this location for it's variety of fresh seafood and their menu.

Checked with three locals on the best seafood market in Marathon and everyone said Fish Tales is their favorite. Stopped in one afternoon near closing and was able to get 3lbs of steamed peel and eat gulf shrimp. Steams in Old Bay. It was wonderful! Their homemade cocktail sauce did not disappoint either. I also picked up a pack of their certified angus beef hamburger patties which grilled up great. The guys behind the counter were super helpful and having fun. Busy but I didn’t have to wait long. They also have a dine in option here but I didn’t do that. If you’re looking for steamed gulf shrimp - this is where you want to go. We tried King one night because Fish Tales was closed but weren’t as impressed with that.

We ordered to go… conch fritters came with cocktail sauce, which should have been remoulade sauce, they were soggy and the conch was tough and chewy. As for the lady at the bar that took our order, she wasn’t very enthusiastic about our visit to say the least. We also ordered the key lime pie because I saw good reviews about it. It was pretty good but of course we didn’t receive any napkins or any cutlery to eat our food or pie with. I definitely would NOT go back.

I don't know how anybody praise this place at all. I ordered a fish platter to go, a grilled grouper and new potatoes. I nstead they put a sandwich kit with a soggy bun, uninspired coleslaw and one old potatoes cut in pieces. The fish was previously frozen with an awful after taste, what a shame for a Florida establishement. My husband ordered a sandwich which came with lifeless limpy fries. Yuckies! The only smoked fish they had in the market was salmon, really? In Florida? Please, stay away from this place if you respect your taste buds.

We are very disturbed by your post. We honestly debated about even responding, because it seems like you are very adimate about your feelings and we would just be defending ourselves and be argumentative. However, we then decided that we do not want people to just believe this post.... we will just post facts. 1) To go food, is packaged in a "to go kit", called a To Go Box. The issue with To Go Food.... is that, if it sits in the box for any length of time... with the lid closed..... the food gets soggy. We believe this must be the case, since our French Fries are made with a crispy coating and are almost impossible to be "lifeless limpy fries".... unless they are Steamed in a "to go kit" for a period of time. 2) The Grouper Sandwich is not on our Menu, but is a Specialty Sandwich out of our Fresh Fish & Seafood Market. The fish is brought directly to the kitchen from the Market to be cooked for your order. 3) Our Market does make on-site Fresh Smoked Fish and Fish Dip. Our Dip is made with Mackerel, Snapper & Salmon.... therefore, these fish are smoked all week in order to make our dip. Salmon must have been the only item for sale in our Market at the time you visited.... as Smoked Salmon is a favorite in the restsurant on our famous Johnny Salad and to customers in the market. All our Smoked Fish sells out fast. Today, we made a huge batch for Fish Dip and sold almost all of it in an afternoon. So with that said... we hope that when you visit our area again, that you will eat AT our restaurant to assure freshness... and try our food again (and smoked fish). We will make this right with you.... just introduce yourself next visit. We hope to see you again.

We stopped for lunch and it was just okay!!! I had a fish sandwich, very small portion of fish for the price, soup was good, but cold. My husband had one of their German offerings; he said it was tough and bland. No one asked how we liked lunch and the service was just passive. The prices were too high for what we had......FRANKS GRILL is much much better!!!

We had a group of 15 and were very excited to try this place out based on reviews and pics. When we got there, there were plenty of tables available for us to be seated, but the hostess said she had to contact the owner. According to the hostess, the owner said they couldn't seat us because then we would fill the restaurant up and other patrons were not going to be able to come in. I assured them we were all going to eat and pay, but the owner was steadfast in his response. This was absolutely ridiculous to me as he rather have an empty restaurant than a large group of paying customers. To be fair, the hostess and the man working at the market were very nice and said that yes, in fact we could be seated but they had to follow their boss's orders. Pretty dumb business philosophy IMO.
