Herbies is the oldest operating restaurant in the Heart of the Florida Keys! Having been established in the late 1940's under the name Maggie's Chowder House, it has become a landmark restaurant and continued local favorite. While the restaurant is well established, the only thing old school about the menu is the fact that everything is prepared from scratch here, and that includes grinding our own grass fed beef, conch, sausage, and hot dogs (when available). And, our beer selection is unmatched from Miami to Key West. All on tap craft beer. No, you will not find a National branded beer here, but you will find true American fresh craft beer along with some exceptionally fine wines all poured…
Was feeling the need to get out and enjoy some local brews. Decided to visit Herbies. My girlfriend and I sampled a few different draft brews.. all were great. There was live music outside with plenty of open tables. Inside was nice having 2 rooms...to choose from. Always a great experience.More
I searched TripAdvisor and was excited to try this place, especially for their Key lime pie with meringue. We had to wait several days since they are closed 3 days a week. We finally tried it and were a little put off by being sent...to the screened patio when the main room was full. Even though there was no air conditioning, the room was comfortable. My husband ordered conch fritters and shrimp tacos, and both were good. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich but found it to be too fatty with a soggy bun and didn't care for the mustardy barbeque sauce. I was super excited to order the Key lime pie with meringue, but it no longer has meringue! So disappointed! Server was friendly.More

Sorry about the Key Lime Pie. We have been having issues with the meringue holding up, and it has been quite frustrating to say the least. As for the bbq sauce, we have four to choose from since reopening a week ago. Again, my apologies...More
We ate here twice!! They have the best food in the keys!!!! I had the smashed potato and chicken, This was the best chicken I’ve ever eaten!! Next time we went back we both had it. Our waitress both times was Casey who was so...sweet !!!! We also had the pretzel appetizer which was fabulous!!!More
We planned to eat elsewhere in Marathon while driving to Ket West--it was closed until October. Hit Herbie's instead--best decision ever! Their crabby burger special was amazing and the fish sandwich was super tasty! Excellent social distancing for a small restaurant, and they had outdoor...seating available. The entire restaurant got into a tv show and we were all participating in the answers--a lot of fun in a weird world!More
The servers, and staff are so friendly. My friend and I were on a girls trip and decided to pull off here and try it. Best decision, delicious food you will not regret it. I had Tex mex tacos and mixed green salad. My friend...had conch chowder and a shrimp salad.... was so good!More
We love seafood, we love beer and we love dives. To be able to experience all three in one visit is our idea of bliss...Herbie's isn't a dive in the literal sense, maybe more like a shack? It is clean and well appointed but it...definitely is a place with a sense of history. We sat on the screened in front porch. The service was perfectly executed, neither overbearing nor neglectful. Great, great craft beer selection. We all got something we loved. The menu was pretty classic gulf coast type fare. While usually a huge fried fish fan, I tasted my husband's fried mahi "fish and chips", oh, my...crispy tempura-style breaded deliciousness. I had a stellar oyster po-boy. Fries were great. A little on the spendy side but that seems to be the case for restaurant food in the keys. A very satisfying meal and experience overall.More
AMAZING food, great staff and incredible key lime pie! We had the grilled (“blackened”) Mahi sandwich, the burger with cheese and bacon and the fish and chips. Everything was absolutely delicious, and this might be one of our favorite restaurants in the Keys thus far....The Mahi sandwich is not just good because of the fish; it’s delicious because they treat the bun right as well. The tartar sauce is homemade, and the house cut fries are yummy. The burger is beyond delicious, and the fish and chips is amazing as well. We also got a basket of the fried onions. They’re onion straws; so, don’t expect big ole onions rings, but these are scrumptious!
Now, the key lime pie is tart enough to make you pucker, and we loved it!! We he only thing that would have made it better would be to have a stronger graham cracker crust, but it still was amazing! (You can order a whole pie as well!) Our son got the brownie, and it was actually a bit dry, but it was tasty. If we weren’t leaving tomorrow, we’d be back here again!More

Hi! We offer a chicken and smashed potato on our menu. While somewhat similar to Nashville style given the marinating in our own buffalo sauce and buttermilk, it is not as hot as it's Nashville cousin. The other sinful difference is we top ours with a cream sauce that most of our locals here have deemed it to be liquid crack.
We look forward to having you down here in February!
