Plaice was exactly what I wanted as far as a beach bar, great views, nice music and beach seating available. The food was just not good. Lobster bisque was Luke warm and had no flavor. Calamari was barely warm and soggy/greasy. Go for a drink,...the music and the sunset, but not for dinner.More
We were seated right on the beach thanks to our server, Tara, who provided exceptional service ~ thank you Tara! We ate some delicious food while watching an amazing sunset. The tropical salad., key lime seafood and crab cake were excellent. The lobster bisque was...flavorful but needs some pieces of lobster meat in it to bring it to the next level. The prices have increased about 20% over the menu posted so it was a bit pricey but worth it for the view. Would definitely recommend.More
Twice in the last 3 weeks' visit to M88, we were surprised to wait over 15 minutes for wait staff to recognize we were assigned to their table. The first time was somewhat understandable; Saturday afternoon with full tables under the tiki. The second, however,...was this past Thursday evening with 2 tables occupied under the tiki (us and another table next to us). The table next to us had a server assigned, Kevin, who walked past us several times, and didn't offer a thing. Another server 2 tables away walked by us and recognized we had not been served water; she offered to get it and find out who was attending our table. She motioned to Kevin and both went to the hostess stand to determine who would help us. When we saw Kevin shake his head no when what we presume he was told to help us, we got up to leave. As we were walking past several wait staff including Kevin, he said "sorry guys." Really, was Kevin all that sorry? No, clearly not. He nor anyone else took the initiative to find another table for us, including the hostess when I asked to speak with a manager. We are local and have been supportive of the local businesses; that's what we do. Shame on management and Kevin. Kudos to the staff person who offered to get water, you're doing a great job; Kevin and the management team could learn a lot from you.More
The place is nice the food it’s ok. The customer service is terrible. Even the ladies that answer the phone have an attitude. I have been there a couple of times thinking that was just a one bad experience but no. Both times I have...been there has been the same bad customer service experience.Although the food it’s ok it’s overpriced but the ambiance of the place is nice . But no I don’t recommend this restaurant because there are plenty of nice restaurants in the keys to chose from with great customer service!More
We have been going there when we get to south Florida close to once a year. We didn’t make it last year due to COVId so we were excited to go this month. We were extremely disappointed in the food. They have done a lot...of construction on patio and bar area and it looks great but they have cut down on quality of food.
The coconut shrimp use to be large a tasty now small and bland. The calamari was chewy and burnt.
Sorry but we won’t waste our time on going back!More
This was honestly the worst dinner experience of our entire trip. After reading many reviews and making a reservation 2 months in advance, I wish I had gone with my gut feeling to skip out on our reservation. The reviews just kept coming in bad...leading up to our trip, but I thought they may be having a hard time with staffing shortages or something.
NOT THE CASE. Please skip this restaurant if you have plans coming up for it.
Reservations for 2 at 7:30. Get there at 7:25 and the hostess takes us to the beach tables which is where I had requested prior. I casually asked her if we could be sat at one of the closest tables to the water, and I was quickly answered back with "No. Those tables seat 6 people." Ok, no problem I say, she then seats us at a farther back table, still on the beach...but do you want to know how many seats were at our table? 6. Hmmm, odd, but whatever. I'm in the Keys, nothing is gonna get me down, right? We still have a nice view. Then we wait, and wait and wait for our waitress. When she finally arrives, she looked hurried, not very friendly, and more worried about what the other tables around us were doing. She takes our drink orders, and disappears...for. a. very. long. time. Drinks come out already warmish, since they were martinis with no ice- they must have been sitting at the bar the whole time. She takes our order, and disappears.
Food was so bad. "Lobster" bisque was creamy tomato soup with NO lobster. The Hogfish was soggy. My Caesar salad was a bowl full of romaine lettuce with clumpy "homemade dressing" not evenly mixed, with 2 cherry tomatoes. This was the 2nd most expensive dinner of our trip, and we felt horrible for spending that much.
The view is very nice at sunset, sadly that is all they have going for them.More
