The ambiance is very nice. There is indoor or outdoor seating. It is on a small beach, that if you want to get in, there is a $5 per adult (12 & over) charge. They have a small outdoor Tiki bar. The food was decent, but you can find better in a less visited keys restaurant. It offers typical keys cuisine. The waiter did mess up the order and the dessert (key lime pie-- one slice)took 45 minutes to get to the table. One the plus side, the waiter did make things right with us. There was live music. They also are accessible by water from the Florida Bay side.

I had the Mac 'n Cheese Appetizer which was the perfect size for an appetizer. The spiral noodles with their cheese sauce was delish! The cheese sauce was nice and creamy with some left over which pairs very well with their sweet potato fries. They also sprinkled Panko bread crumbs on the side of the dish so there were some noodles with out crumbs. We sat in the swinging blue benches on the beach and at that spot the location of the live music volume was perfect. When we walked through the main dinning area the live music was to loud to have a comfortable conversation with family. There was the option to bring your own seats to sit on the beach and there was crab traps to be used as tables along with the option to cool off in the ocean right there. The waiter that has our table, Drew was very good and frequent leading up to the food coming out.

Marker 88 is a restaurant with large outdoors seating area in location on the ocean where you can enjoy a great sunset views while having a very tasty meal and good service. It is on the expensive side but not necessarily overpriced given the location and tasty food. They have adequate parking lot.

Had New Years Day dinner at this once great gem. It was obvious the new owners are over their heads. Ordered the filet and Mac and cheese. It was served cold three times. This restaurant should rebrand itself as a burger and wing place as it does not warrant the place that so beautiful to eat at be so expensive and not be able to serve food at a proper temperature. It was early and not very busy. Now I know why. Great view and wonderful server who was embarrassed to serve the food she had to us. Save your money and get a drink but move to a better run establishment to drop your $$$ at.

Do not eat at this restaurant if you have any kind of allergy! We ate at this establishment on 7/18/2020 after Marker 88 came up in a search for gluten free menu options. My daughter is celiac so we take this very seriously. Because this restaurant was new to us we called ahead to be sure they had gluten free menu items and they understood contamination. Yes and yes. Upon arrival we see several items actually marked GF. We discuss them with our server Paul. I tell him THREE times to be sure to tell the kitchen this is a severe allergy so they will be careful with her food. We ordered the blue crab dip and a Caesar’s salad with shrimp. The dip arrives and I look at it and see wonton chips. Those are never gluten free. I ask the woman who brought the dish to our table if it was gluten free, and she says “oh, it’s supposed to be gluten free?”. She immediately removes it from the table and we don’t see anyone including Paul the server for 10 minutes. He comes back and casually tells us that the dip is not GF because they don’t have potato chips to sub for the wontons. Astonished, we said then why is it on the menu? I yelled at him that they brought the food and my daughter would have eaten the food and become seriously ill. He claimed he had been checking with the kitchen, and acted so surprised that they brought the food. But, then why would they have brought to our table exactly what we ordered?! He must have placed the order without indicating the allergy. My daughter and I have eaten out at hundreds of restaurants all over the country, Europe and , and this has never happened to us. Someone deliberately bringing her food that would make her sick! Furious, but we were exhausted so I said what about the salad? He said that would be okay. I emphasized for about the sixth time it needed to be GF. A medium sized salad arrived with bottled tasting dressing and exactly four medium sized shrimp and a $24.73 bill. We left and I called and spoke at length to the manager. She was apologetic, but really wasn’t interested in even finding out who served us. I had to tell her several times what time we ate, what we ate and where we sat. Finally, 10 minutes into the call she told me who she thought it may have been. Today, I went through my stack of receipts and she was correct about who served us. Terrible service, terrible food, terrible attitude. Will never return to this restaurant.

I loved the vibe of this place with seating on the beach and live music during the sunset. For the price and terrible service I could of stayed at my resort beach and ate McDonalds and I would of been more impressed. The food was good but the service was slow. It took 15 minutes before our waiter even came to say hi to us. Obviously we ordered right when he finally did come to the table. When our food did come they brought our food out to us without silverware. When we asked the server for it she said that was the Hostess job, instead of bringing us some. We waited while out food was getting cold about 5 minutes before my husband jumped over the beach wall to the Hostess station and grabbed it himself. At $50 per small plate no sides or silverware included. I 'd give them an F but the view and the music were good.

During our recent visit to Islamorada, my wife and I made the mistake of canceling our reservations at another restaurant and making a new one at Marker 88 because it looked so appealing, especially it’s location right on the beach. The positives of our decision? The view from the restaurant is very nice, with some tables right on the beach. That’s about it. The negatives? Well to start with we were greeted by and shown to our table by a hostess with all the enthusiasm and charm of a prison matron escorting prisoners to their cell. Tossing our napkin wrapped cutlery on the table to indicate where we would be seated was a nice touch. The food? The lobster bisque I ordered was served slightly below tepid and was completely missing one important element….any sign of an actual piece of lobster. My entree of onion encrusted Mahi- Mahi was, in presentation and flavor, the equivalent of the fish sticks served at your high school cafeteria. My wife described her entree of shrimp with zoodles as “fine”, hardly a ringing endorsement. If you want to just hang at the bar and enjoy the view, I guess this place is worth the visit. For a meal, which was not inexpensive by the way, my recommendation is, give it a hard pass.

Can’t control the windy cold weather but seriously the food and service were crap. We were getting desperate by the time the waitress finally came, thought we had been forgotten. Yellowfin Meunière was bland. Mac and cheese was lukewarm when served and not at all cheesy or tasty. I never add salt to my food but had to get a salt and pepper off of a nearby table (since we had none). And really, one side for a $32 fish entree?!

As a local coming here for years we were disappointed. After waiting over an hour at a high top under the new tiki we were never told we could order there and after asking when will we be called we were placed at a table right next to where we had been standing with no assigned server. We sat another 20+ mins until we got a servers attention. The food was served cold. The Hog snapper was dried up and garlic green beans were overdone and bland. The overpriced captains platter was meager and neither dish was nicely presented.

DO NOT EAT HERE! Head to Maddogs or Square Grouper instead. Same type of menu, similar price but the service and food are so much better. We visited with some friends while visiting the Keys. We arrived and the service was so unorganised. Staff seemed to not know what they were doing. We ordered starters and they came and were average at best. Whilst we were eating them they brought our mains, which was a little bit off as we we had ordered steak so it was clear that they had not timed things right. We asked for the mains to be taken back until we finished our starters. They then cleared the starters and brought our mains that were now cold. I complained to the manager, who I had to chase around the restaurant. His response was that he wanted his staff to get food out fast. I missed the bit where the wants of the manager took preference over normal service order or the enjoyment of the customer but that is clearly his choice. He gave 10% off our bill but to be honest the cost of the meal was as high as some of the other incredible eateries in the area. Don't waste your time.

The first time we stopped the bar tender was great, which is what brought us back the second time to have our fresh catch cooked. It was busier and took a long time to get a drink, but worse, the hostesses really didn’t know anything about fresh catch cooking options. After they looked at us like we were crazy for even asking to have our fish cooked, they told us they only way it could be done is seared , which is contrary to the website, which I pointed out. And they blamed that on Covid (?? Ok...??) they told us we would need to order the food from the bartender, the bar tender said “no, you need to order from the host stand”. After someone finally took it, 45 minutes later it hadn’t even started to be cooked. We were afraid of what we would end up so left and had it cooked someplace else. It’s a cool spot to have a drink when it’s not busy, but wouldn’t recommend otherwise.

We arrived and were told we couldn't sit on the beach due to the possible rain and we were seated in the main dining area. While we sat, we watched those who arrived after us be seated on the beach. We waited for a server .... waited for a drink... waited for an appetizer that tasted like warm tuna fish... waited for the server to ask us if we wanted to order but declined. We asked for the check and left. Terrible. If it wasn’t for the views of the bay and sunset this place is not worth it. Overrated. Save yourself the trip.

This place is downright awful. Shame on me for giving it a second chance, it’s location on the bay-with an awesome view-was too good not to try again. Our first visit in February had service so bad that we left after 45 minutes of not receiving any food. Then we were denied our seating request of the beach. Today we again asked for the beach and we’re told no even though there were many open tables, because “we are going to get rain”, according to the hostess. Not ten minutes after we were seated, she began seating others where we were just refused seating!! We got food this time and ugh! We ordered the hot blue crab dip. It tasted like greasy, hot tuna salad in Mayo. It was served with some unrecognizable greasy chips. They weren’t potato chips or tortilla chips, I have no idea what they were. Just plain bad. We didn’t order anything else. Take a hard pass on this one, the view just isn’t worth it.

You would think during a pandemic, they would appreciate the business they are getting. The location is great, with a beautiful view. They are dog friendly so that was nice. Those were pretty much the only positives. Just like most tourist traps, the food was average with a high price tag. For 5 of us to dine it was over 150.00 and that's not with any alcoholic drinks. Bathroom area was horrible! Smelled like raw sewage so prepare yourself if you have to use the establishment. Totally disgusting and makes you wonder what the kitchen is like. We left our credit card at the restaurant by accident and called them immediately and they said we would have to call back 10am the next morning and that servers hadn't turned anything in yet. We knew our servers name and they couldn't just go ask her if she had credit card that was left behind. So we called back 10am in the morning to only get that we needed to call back 1pm. We did that and was told nobody had access to the safe and to call back at 5pm. You guessed it, called back at 5pm, now they are too busy. Meanwhile we are on vacation without our credit card. We called our credit card company and had to cancelled it. After getting upset with them, they finally called back and of course they couldn't find it. They probably didn't even look from the turn around time from the last call. Won't be visiting there and won't be recommending it. Too many other restaurants to go too, then spend our money at a place that can't give great customer service. Scored it a 2 star because they were dog friendly and had a great view.

My first experience with marker 88, we came in by boat and there was an extremely long wait for a table. We decided we weren't going to wait 90 minutes + and left. Some of our friends had a good meal there afterwards and we decided to try it again. In mid November of 2020 we stopped by with our catch of the fay from fishing. We were informed that due to covid-19 they were not doing cook your catch any longer. I found that ironic since every other restaurant is still doing it. After I complained, the server went back and checked and they said they would do it. They wanted nearly $18 to cook a half a pound! Lazy days wanted $16 to cook a full pound with great sides. That math doesn't work for me. Although they have a nice beach side setting, I'm done trying there. Too many good restaurants in Islamorada and surrounding towns to waste my time there, which is a shame because we live right across the road.
