About
In the Florida Keys you'll find this old Keys-style marina and fish shack "somewhere on A1A." A true conch atmosphere with many tasty delights, here in this Florida Keys restaurant you'll find yourself indulged in the Caribbean-inspired cuisine, the compassionate people and old Keys tranquility that is the Hungry Tarpon restaurant in Islamorada. The building has been standing since 1947 and with a home like Robbie's of Islamorada, plus a fascinating history, it all makes the Hungry Tarpon a part of the tradition since 1976. Enjoy dining on our bayside deck with tiki torches lighting up the night. Relax with friends over our fabulous appetizers and watch the boats come and go. Stroll our open

We had lunch here after our snorkel trip with Sundance Water Sports. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the food and had a nice waitress. We will return.

We arrived at about 9:30 am and there was a ton of seating still available, ensuring great views. Our waitress, Sherry, was helpful with suggestions and came back often to check up on us. The trailer trash bloody mary’s were good, but could have used...more flavor. My husband had the southern style burrito and he enjoyed it. I had the “your way” omelette with lobster and it was seriously delicious!!More

First of all we were unsure about going due to previous mixed reviews. We had 3 families - 7,7&6 traveling together and figured we would split up etc to get in the same restaurant. It’s got a “dive” type atmosphere and reggae music playing right...on the water. Robbies entire place is cool - shaved ice truck, kayak rentals, and mainly for us feeding the tarpon while we wait. Surprisingly enough the staff was amazing - put 2 tables together for 14 explained there wasn’t really a server for that section but they would work it out and we may have 2. They also held another small table near us for the 6 that arrived 15 mins behind us. Staff brought us all water right away without us asking and we met Lindsey our server who did an outstanding job picking up an extra table of 14! I think the kitchen was a bit slow but the food was delicious and Lindsey kept checking in with us and was on top of it ! We had a wide range of items from vegetarian options to burgers to seafood and everything was delicious. I even sampled some keys local beer that was nice. While we waited for our food, we fed the hungry tarpon (watch out for the Pelicans! They are aggressive and try to steal the fish from you). We had some good laughs over that for sure. I would say it is a must do for people coming on vaca - go early as it gets busy. They do have umbrellas but it’s all outside and hot so dress accordingly but once the sun starts to go down it’s beautiful !More

After a 45 min wait to be seated (that they told us would be 15-20 min), we were seated at a table I guess with no waitress. We flagged one down after 10 min and she couldn’t find our waitress so she said she would...wait on us. Finally got our order taken but took 20 min to get our drinks. After over an additional hour of waiting on our food (from that point!), we decided to leave. Hadn’t even seen our appetizer at this point. The waitress scrambled and said our food would be ready in just a few so offered to pack it up to go. Packed it up and brought it out several minutes later. Everything was cold and the order was wrong. 2+ hours is way too long of an experience for just average food.More

My wife and I were here for breakfast a few years ago. It was excellent. This time, we had our daughters and stopped for lunch. we had a tuna wrap, burger, hogfish sandwich, tomato mozz. salad, jerk wings, and sweet potato fries. Everything was average....But the atmosphere is still fun. The tarpon were swimming and eating. We even saw a manatee. Would give them a best out of three opportunity.More

So normally we aren’t complainers but our experience here was so bad we thought it would be helpful for others to hear. It began at the desk where the hostess wrote down my name and number and said it’s about a ten minute wait and...she’d text me when a table was ready. I gave her thirty since the place looked busy. After that I went back and asked her how the list was looking and she looked like a deer in the headlights and said “did I get your number?” - another hostess walked up at that time and asked if I’d been taken off the list to which she replied yes. Okay, an error. So we were then seated at a table in the center of the restaurant. A party of 4. 15 minutes later we got ice water and were told our waiter was waiting on an 11 top and they were short staffed. Okay, we’ll wait. 30 minutes and we grab the next available waiter who says he’s going to find our server, comes back 10 minutes later and tells us he can’t find him/her and takes our order. Watching tables around us, at least 5 have been seated, served and left within 60 minutes but at least 3 have been sitting for at least 20 minutes waiting on just the check. 30 minutes later- drinks arrive 25 minutes later- food arrives. I ask for the check when the food arrives and it’s at my side in 5 minutes I did not stiff the server as he did as good a job taking our order and delivering our food and punishing him wasn’t fair as this was clearly a poorly managed restaurant. Second worst dining experience in my life. Will not be going back and won’t be recommending. If your restaurant has poorly trained staff and systems and you can’t staff all of your tables - then a) train your staff b) establish systems that work (thinking of the piece of scrap paper that the hostess wrote info on that was not even on a clipboard) and c) shut down enough tables so customers can be served in a timely fashion.More

(Only gave it two stars because feeding the tarpons next to the restaurant was cool.) We stopped to feed the tarpon and we had a great time doing that. By the way, the folks running that area were very nice. My husband and son walked...up to the restaurant to see what the availability was. The hostess never said a word to them. No "just a second", no "hello", no nothing. She seemed extremely frustrated by their presence as she angrily stacked up menus. They probably stood face to face with her for 7 minutes and she never acknowledged their existence. So we left. You know, everyone is understaffed right now. We are actually very patient and understanding folks. But we would just like a hello more than a glare.More

We ate there this past Sunday, once we were sat it took the staff over 15 minutes to get our drink orders and food order. The mojito that we ordered took 20 minutes to come out, it had no sugar in it, way to much...club soda in it. It was at this point we noticed people who arrived after us getting their food orders. We started to talk to the table next to us and the had been waiting for 1.5hrs for their food, simple order of sliders. Our waiter when asked about our order said the kitchen was backed up, I pointed it couldn’t be since the tables around us that arrived after us had their food. At this point we have waited over an hour since placing our order. The staff brought the food out, all of cold or under done. It was at this point the table next to us got up approached a gentleman in a white shirt who was supposed to be the manger, the man was clearly drunk. Their order showed up, same thing cold, his response to them here is your food. Absolute worst service from the hostess to the rest of the staff, would avoid.More

We sat at the bar since there was a wait for seating. Our bartender was attentive and helped us make some good food decisions. If you like Bloody Mary’s, try the trashy Bloody Mary as it is practically a meal in itself. The fish tacos...were very good and the hogfish sandwich was good, but could have used a little more flavor. We enjoyed the drinks and the atmosphere.More
