About
Breafast, Lunch, Dinner. A unique take-out dine-in establishment just steps from the famous Duval Street. Cuban street food is served up from the outdoor mobile grill on a patio reminiscent of Old Havana. Homemade flan, and baked goods are created within the adjacent historic conch house under the close scrutiny of local wild roosters. The Frita is a heavenly burger with origins in 1930's Cuba where they were considered a native street food. They are a mouthwatering blend of beef and pork burger seasoned with Spanish spices, topped with a special sauce and crispy fried julienne potatoes, all sandwiched on a Cuban bun. Salty, savory, sweet and crunchy. Additionally there are Cuban inspired tacos with fillings such as guava glazed pork, Local fish and shrimp, and chicken. Empanadas are house made all day and night long. The decor at Frita's is influenced by another famed latin icon - Frida Kahlo - where the art on the wall reflects her style and of course her famous unibrow!

I'm always recommending Frita's to tourists in Key West because it's such a unique place. It's affordable, tasty, filling food that you will not come across anywhere else on the island. I also want to add something as a local that was super meaningful during the 3 months the islands were closed to outsiders. Frita's was one of the 1st to offer locals a free meal to us if we were in need because we'd all been laid off from our jobs and had no income. They did this for the duration of the shutdown. The owners have always been looking out for EVERYONE. They've also been making high quality, stylish, cloth face masks too (I can't tell you how many compliments I get on my masks from them). So make sure you add one to your order when you go there. And wear that mask in Key West until we get the "all clear" whenever that is. I can't recommend Frita's enough.

We have been going to Key West for years and have eaten at Fritas at least 20 times. The food is made to order and always fresh. The coffee is like a trip to Cuba! My favorite is the Cuban Burger loaded! The owner Frita is always pleasant with a smile on her face! Our recent visit we observed all staff taking extra precautions, masks on and sanitizing surfaces. We ordered (with our masks on!) at the walk-up window. We felt very comfortable eating outside, well distanced. Can't wait to go back in three months!Sorry no pictures, I was too intent on eating!

We always try to include a trip or two to Frita's when we're in Key West. This time, we had a lovely meal in the garden dining area. We really enjoyed our fritas and our ice cold drinks which were especially wonderful on a very hot October afternoon. Our dinner company was lovely, as you'll see in the picture!

Our kids were thrilled with Cuban frittas burgers we ate in Miami on Calle Ocho. Considering good TA rating we put this cafe on our list to have a lunch here while on Key West. However, we didn't like it and left with the impression that most things in KW are tourist/money oriented. The burgers were almost double the price of the same in Miami, and didn't have that flavor we liked there. I ordered tacos which were slightly better, but average. The only thing I liked was the setting, little bit kitschy and colorful, yet very cute.

They are twice the size as in Miami. We are the lowest price restaurant in Key West. We are not touristy at all, its all our own style and we are off the beaten path. Sorry you didn't like our 'flavor. When asked you said everything was great. I'm so glad that most of our other customers love our food.

Frita's Cuban burger is not a patty of ground meat between two pieces of bread. It's juicy ground pork and beef flavored with various spices and Frita's sauce, topped with onions and their crispy fried julienne potatoes. I got it with the manchego cheese that rounded up the flavor. It was so satisfying. But it was the funky atmosphere of the place with its crazy decor and the friendly service that made the place a standout. We were lucky enough to chat with the owner (Marcia) who is a transplant from Boston and an artist in her own right. Key West visitors must drop in sometime!

Southard just off Duval is an unassuming place that serves great Cuban Coffee and sandwiches. Their deserts are wonderful as well. Frita is a great host and the staff is very friendly. They have a nice outdoor garden - very informal - that makes the place a local favorite. Get you coffee like a local at Fritya's!

My husband and I decide we wanted to try authentic Cuban cuisine. This place hit the spot. Enjoyed sitting outside listening to the musician perform while waiting on our food. My husband had the pork tacos and I had the Cuban sandwich. Although I enjoyed my sandwich, I wish I'd have gotten the tacos, too. Glad my husband shared. They were terrific!

Stopped here for lunch. Its just off of Duval. They have an outdoor area with tables and have table service. We had the Frita Burger and an Arepas with ham and egg. Both were delicious and just enough for lunch on a hot day. They have milkshakes, beer & wine, sodas & coffee. They were very friendly and I will definitely return on our next trip.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and experience at Frita's during our one-day visit to Key West. In fact, we ate there twice...once for sit-down service and once for late-night carry out. My husband and I shared the cubanito along with churros which were both delicious. The sandwich had thinly sliced meat melted with cheese with an excellent flavor and the churros had the right amount of warm cinnamon sugar. The place is small with a nice outdoor garden area to sit. While the food was great, the customer service and attentiveness were the key elements that brought us back for a second time. Unlike several of the other establishments we visited during the day, inundated with tourists, Frita's was a welcoming environment and well worth the stop.

Not going to lie… as a picky-ish eater I didn’t think I would find something I really liked. So, I went on a limb and got the arepas. When brought to me, I think I looked like a deer in the headlights until I tried it!! So so good. Their food is REAL food and you can absolutely taste the difference. Beyond just that, the staff was wonderful and helpful in every way (recommendations, etc). I LOVED our waitress! The place is very unique with a decorated , covered patio and little chickens roaming about. If you don’t want the busy and loud atmosphere even in the middle of dinner time, check this place out. My only complaint: southerners beware as there is no sweet tea haha.

Enjoyed lunches here on both of our two days on the island. Everything we had was scrumptious- the Wreck in particular was an unexpected surprise. Simple, clean, deliciously flavored meals eaten outdoors with cold, light beers - does it get any better than this?!?

We decided to take a short break from the fish, and three of us tried the Frita burger, and the fourth tried the Cuban Wreck Sandwich. The Frita burger was very good, an interesting mix of beef and pork. The Frita sauce was said to be Cuban ketchup, and though it was a much more liquid condiment, it added some spice and interest to the sandwich. The Cuban roll was soft and delicious. The julienne fries were indeed very finely cut, but done right and very good. The Cuban Wreck sandwich was also very good, though hard to keep it all together, and eventually partially eaten by fork. Service was prompt, friendly and helpful. If you are in Key West for more than a couple of days, this is a great break from the fish and shellfish so common on the menus.

Fun little restaurant and excellent food. We had the Fish Reuben and Frita Burger, washed down with Sangria and finished with key lime pie. Everything tasted great. The restuarant is full of fun stuff to look at and the service was fast. It was a warm day and the A/C was working just fine inside the restaurant. Definitely recommend!

Several years ago, I visited Cuba to experience the geography, people, music and food…. Florida has authentic Cuban restaurants that brings back vivid memories of their culture. A Cuban restaurant caught my interest while I was riding my rental bicycle in Key West. I sat outside on their patio enjoying the well made rice, beans and plantains. An ice cold beer complimented the scenery.

The cortadito was worth the stop alone but add in the delicious burgers and this becomes a MUST stop! We took cover under their awning in a rain storm and decided to stay for lunch. So glad we did. The service was also friendly and very quick!
