Here's a full recap, play by play of what happened. Then you can decide if you want to tempt the fates and eat at this terrible establishment... My wife and I chose Mangoes as our dinner spot on OpenTable on our trip down to Key...West. Lots of good reviews and comments about the atmosphere, so we figured it would be perfect. We were greeted at the hostess stand and immediately seated at a table inside, after being given the option for outdoors or indoors. Since it was pretty warm and we had been out and about all day, we figured some AC inside would be nice. We were seated and given menus, waiting and watching as server after server kept passing the inside area to wait tables in other parts of the restaurant outdoors. We waited for nearly 15 minutes before I decided to get up and move us to an outdoor table, hoping we would get some service. When the hostess asked why we wanted to move, we said it was because no one had even come to greet us while we were inside and it seemed our best chance for getting our dinner started would be to move outside. She immediately apologized and assured us that our waiter/waitress was on the way over... Fast forward to another 10 minutes later, where we were still seated with no greeting from a waiter/waitress and didn't even have water! My wife ended up getting up from the table and stopping one of the waiters coming to and from the outdoor seating to ASK HIM if he was the one to be serving us. He apologized (kind of half heartedly) that he hadn't come by and said he would come over to take our orders. At this point, we weren't convinced we wanted to even stay for dinner but wanted to test out the service by just ordering a drink. My wife and I point blank asked him why it took him so long to come over and his only answer was a complaint about being understaffed. No real apology or "Hey, how can I fix it?"...just complaining about his job. At that point, he began to be really rude to us for not being satisfied with his excuses but did get us some cocktails. We immediately requested that a manager come to our table. Carlos, the manager on duty, came by the table and was quick to also lay down excuses as to why the service was so poor. We explained that we were 35 minutes into being at the restaurant and didn't even have drinks, and were treated very rudely by our server. He agreed to comp our drinks, and it is a good thing, because we didn't last much longer there. After our server got us the drinks (dropping them onto the table and leaving without saying a word to us), he proceeded to go by our table 3 times without ever coming back to see if we wanted food. At that point, one of the hostesses asked "Is everything ok?" and that was the very end. We told her that our server was ignoring us, she made excuses as to why he was "so busy" and we proceeded to get up and leave. One cocktail - 45 minutes at the restaurant! To boil it all down, Mangoes is one of those tourist restaurants that knows its going to make money regardless of good service because of its location on Duval St. They don't care whether you are taken care of because they know someone else will come in off the street right behind you and take your spot. It's the sad truth, but wasn't worth our time or experience. We ended up going to another place down the road and had a great time! So I wish I could tell you more about the food but I never got around to eating it. And we had just about enough excuses...More

The food was mediocre. Lacks seasoning on the fish for sure. Salad was good. Service was also good and location as well. The food was just seriously disappointing.

The atmosphere is nice and ability to sit in various areas but I was not impressed with the meals nor any of the others in our party. The grouper lacked flavor and the tuna was over cooked. The smashed blueberry bourbon was a great drink...but other than that nothing that would stand out.More

Nice outdoor patio setting to enjoy a meal and watch people stroll down Duval St. The menu is carefully curated, with very good seafood dishes. Excellent wait staff.

We scheduled our Mother's Day luncheon at Mangoes and we were very pleased with the atmosphere and delicious meal. We had been trying Key Lime Pie at every restaurant during our stay on the island and we found that Mangoes had the best so far!...Our lunch was delicious and the service was friendly and efficient. We enjoyed the patio with the relaxing breeze- it's a nice spot to eat and enjoy the energetic atmosphere of Duvall Street. We highly recommend Mangoes and hope to return soon!More

This restaurant was a surprise to us as most the other top spots were booked solid so we just walked up and got a table. The outside atmosphere was perfect with light live music. The waiter was a little light on his English so when...I told him I was a National Barbecue judge, he recommended the "Hog" fish. It was excellent along with the conch fritters. We returned for another dinner that week and found the same great walk up service and great food.More

I usually dont like writing bad reviews but didn’t like the attention. We were excited to go for a romantic dinner but left unsatisfied. The hostess was nice but the waiter was zoned out. The waiter took our order for the apps and when the...apps came brings the plates all late when were almost done with the app. Then immediately after we were done with the app the main course arrived to our table. We found it to come to our table to fast. Our meal was ok but our turn off was when my wife found a long hair in her fish. Yuck.More

We dropped our luggage off and headed down the street of Duval. We came across Mangoes and thought we would eat here since it was inside and we were not yet use to the humidity. We were the only ones inside, which was fine. The...walls were glass, so while it felt like we were outside, we had the A/C. I ordered a Pina Colado along with my mom. It was not the best, but it was good. I had the house salad with shrimp. It the shrimp was very good. My husband ordered the Lobster mac and cheese, he said it was really good. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful, although she was under staffed. It didn't take along time to get our food and it was all pretty good. Our bill for 4 entrees , two teas and 2 Pina Coladas was $138, plus we added a tip. It is right on Duval. About half way through our meal it started to rain, so all the people eating outside came in to eat.More

Mangoes is a beautiful restaurant and bar on Duval Street. Great menu and delicious food and drinks. There was live music and they take reservations. Since we were a couple we had no trouble eating dinner twice without reservations. Yes, I said twice. It was...very good and the service was great.More
