In addition to providing delicious dessert options, everyone at Mattheessen’s couldn’t be nicer! I went a few times and was always greeted with a smile and nice conversation. I had the ice cream and it definitely tastes fresh and homemade. We also purchased a few giant cookies and they didn’t last long! I picked up a piece of plain chocolate... More

Surprising, I know. We stopped for a snack and I ordered the key lime pie (regular, not frozen on a stick). It was the best key lime pie I've ever had! Perfect mixture of tangy and sweet, and the crust was a thick graham cracker butter crust. We tried Kermit's and Blond Giraffe, and Mattheessen's was the best. I knocked... More

Open late, so perfect for a late sweet tooth. Cookies were amazingly soft and crisp and massive. Had a little for a late night snack and rest for breakfast. The Oat meal Raisin was delicious. Also had a piece of the Key lime pie - which was creamy and zesty.

The ice cream was awesome. We had 7 flavors, all were fantastic. My son got the dark chocolate Key Lime pie on a stick. It was truly amazing! They had a large variety of fresh baked goods. Wish we could have tried more...

I went to Matthessen's every day. We were in heaven with the peanut butter cookies. We'd also sample the fudge. They have delicious gelato and key lime pie too. One day I asked for a peanut butter cookie with frosting on top. The guy said "that's not frosting - it's fudge". OMG! What could be better than that? On our... More

Walking Duval Street with kids doesn't allow for many places that are mainly kid-friendly. Getting my kids past this storefront improved impossible and soon all of us were enjoying samples of cookies, fudge and ice cream and then were happily on our way with some sweet creamy goodness.

Visiting here is a must every time we visit Key West. I must get on the gigantic chocolate chip cookies during our stay. The cookies are huge and so soft and chewy. I even decided to take one home with me this time.
