A relatively new restaurant with not to many reviews until now. That was what I saw when I looking at Bel Mare as I was thinking about making a reservation.
It was definately a smart choice that we finalized that reservation and went over for dinner at this restaurant which advertises as fine italian dining.
As we came in and confirmed our reservation it appeared that the table was not available yet. We were friendly asked to wait for some time close to the bar where we could enjoy a drink. Our host was very friendly and helped out us great.
As the table became available our very friendly and energetic waitress greeted us and started to walk us through the menu. Great knowledge, tips and attitude so kudos for that.
We decided to share some appetizers; Chef's Ceviche / Tomato Caprese and Carne Cruda were prepared in the kitchen. What great presentation and taste on these appetizers. Absolutely amazing.
The main course we went for Pappardelle Capri and Pork Osso Buco. Spectacular plates which did not take long to finish. Once again great work from the kitchen.
GM Nate did a great job in making sure we were comfortable. Kudos also for the drink on the house to make up for the wait when we entered!
As with all "starting" restaurants there is also room for improvement. We pointed that out during the visit and were assured that this would be attended to.
Bel Mare is on its way to become one of the best places in Key West for dinner. With a tight crew in the kitchen and good waiting staff and a supportive GM all necessary ingredients are present to make this happen.

We were seated on a private outdoor balcony overlooking the harbor, which was amazing. We then went on an incredible food journey, with our guide, Jade, each course surpassed the other. We started cocktails ..the godfather and a raspberry martini. Our first stop was the Carne Crudo and Mushroom soup followed by main courses veal bolognese and shrimp orecchoiette. Based on these two stops we made sure not to eat our full meals to ensure room for dessert. The Key Lime cheesecake, what sort of culinary wizardry was this? Cheesecake with a key lime topping combined with blackberries and strawberries.

Bel Mare was recommended by the concierge at our resort. That always makes me a little leery since I'm never sure what actually garners a concierge recommendation. This one was a winner for sure! We loved the bar, the wait staff, and the food so much that we returned for a second dinner before leaving KW for home.
Although the restaurant has been open for only 2 months, everything about it was polished and professional. And the food is amazing! (Don't miss the mussel appetizer.) When they ran out of the pasta indicated on the menu for my entrée, the chef came out of the kitchen to apologize for the substituted pasta (also delicious) and offered us a complimentary dessert.
What a wonderful addition to the KW dining scene.

The atmosphere and food was great, a bit spendy though. Our server was attentive as well. So why the three stars? When the head chef comes by your table and asks “how is everything” and then criticizes your answer, that is not acceptable. We had 5 in our party and requested a type of ‘family style’ dining approach. When requested to have the steak and lobster simply sliced, our waiter said absolutely! When it was served whole, we were disappointed. We were honest and polite with the Head chef’s question and he was extremely rude back to us, stating they are too busy to slice a steak or lobster in the kitchen, and that was beyond their capabilities. We continued to tip 20% to our waiter; but with a bill & tip of over $750 for 5 people, I would have expected more from their head chef. For fine dining with a courteous staff, I’d recommend dining elsewhere.

We had a beautiful table and new waitress who was lovely / our ravioli size ordered was large but they were tiny , shrimp scampi ordered large was small , tasty but the unholy surprise was being charged $50 for 2 Lemoncello martinis! We dine in nyc and have never paid this much for a martini ! This was a complete rip off and a complete turn off / thank God we only had 2!!

We went here for Mother's Day dinner and it was absolutely perfect from start to finish. They totally surprised us by arriving to the table with a single stem Rose and a complimentary bottle of wine for our Mother. They also brought out an amazing chocolate cake for dessert for her. They really wined and dined us. It was wonderful. Our Server, Egypt, was so nice and welcoming. The bartender, Matt, is probably one of the best bartenders on the Island. Definitely make this a must stop while in Key West. They make their own pasta and the desserts we ordered (one of each 😜) were delicious! We will definitely be back! Oh and how could I forget the View!!! Stunning view of the A & B Marina. We got to watch all the boats go out for Sunset while we enjoyed our dinner. Thanks Bel Mare for a wonderful experience and for taking such good care of our Mom🙂

A nice new dining venue with a view in Key West replaces Commodore’s venerable spot on the docks. The best thing we had was an appetizer, prosciutto and melon, floating in a rich goat cheese and accompanied by a melange of fruits. The Veal Chop and Linguine and Clams were both good. The clams were on a sauce with too much butter and chop was a bit bland. The service was excellent but be prepared for a noisy room.

Drinks and appetizer of melon and assorted fruits were fine. The veal marsala was half the thickness a medallion should be. My lobster scampi had mostly claw meat and was served with egg noodles. Not what I had hoped.

This place has everything from great meals, great service, great portions, great views. This is my favorite restaurant in Key West. It is a bit pricey but you definitely have options (smaller portions can be ordered) and it is worth the price. You get a lot of food and one of the best things about it is their bread and butter that comes with the meals. It is excellent! Must visit when there. I have also had a lot of their dishes and there is not one thing that is not great

The Bel Mare is by far one of the greatest Italian restaurants in the Keys by far! The service was top, the Chef visited us to make sure everything was to our liking. Our server was such a pleasure to have. Knowledgeable and so curious. The views from every seat in the restaurant are stunning. Everyone MUST dine here at least once on their trip to Key West

I had trouble finding a restaurant in Key West that could accommodate our large work group. We worked with Michaela to set up a meal for 30 people, and the food, atmosphere, and service were all fantastic. Everyone loved the spot, and we had a great time! I would highly recommend this spot for anyone who is looking for great seafood and a friendly but upscale dinning experience in Key West!

The service we received was friendly & efficient. However, the linguine with clams that I ordered was heavy, stodgy & bore no resemblance to an authentic Italian pasta dish. My husband ordered a ravioli dish which had thick layers of meat & mushrooms in an unnecessarily thick sauce - there was no finesse about the dish at all. It was a disappointing evening - there are far better Italian restaurants in the area for far less money. Unfortunately we can’t recommend this restaurant.

Our flight was cancelled so I had to make a reservation the day of our dinner which always makes me skeptical when there are openings. But food was fantastic. I have gluten and shellfish issues so they adjusted the pasta and I had Veal Chop. The chop was big and delicious served with tasty polenta. My husband has a pasta appetizer and Tile fish piccata. He absolutely loved it. We have eaten in a lot of great restaurants in the US and Europe and were surprised to add this to our top list! Only drawback might be that if there is outdoor seating I didn’t see any - but a nice view of the marina if you are along a window.

The staff are friendly and welcoming, ensuring you are well taken care of throughout your dinning experience.
Chef Shane and his culinary crew have a passion for the art of cuisine which is made evident in each plate's design and flavor. They pay homage to the tastes of Italy and use quality ingredients in there dishes.
From seafood to pasta or appetizer to dessert this crew will give your pallet a memory it soon will not forget.
The bar also has some great cocktails and wine selection. When selecting your wine always remember to choose something you'll enjoy, but also compliments the cuisine.
Also check out the White Tarpon downstairs for a bit different fair, but prepared by the same crew.

We visited on St Patrick’s day evening and while most of Key West was awash with revellers, Bel Mare was relaxed, ambient and the food was fabulous. (We even took home a doggy bag!)
Jayde our server was attentive, knowledgeable and ensured we had a meal to remember. - Thank you! We would definitely recommend this place.
