I had the trio of lobster thermador with small steak filet with shrimp -- it did not disappoint. I then helped my daughter polish off her lobster mac and cheese -- also fantastic. The whole family walked away not just satisfied, but delighted.

Thank you Lauren E!0 (There’s a really funny joke in there about your bartender packing it in, but I’ll not skip that for now. :-)) Scot, Co-Owner, The Flaming Buoy Filet Co.

Four of us dined there in early January 2019. Jay, our waiter, provided great service without being intrusive. My filet was perfect and the sauteed spinach was quite yummy. Two hints: make a reservation and don't miss their take on "American Gothic" next to the...More

Lobster Mac n' Cheese - a plate of penne with cheese sauce and lobster chopped through it with a bit of undercooked broccoli on the side. Terrible - no seasoning, no flavour and no resemblance to what I would call mac n' cheese. Just bland....More

My wife and I have always been fans of the Buoy at the old location. I was somewhat concerned when I heard they were moving into a strip of shops. I was afraid they would lose the cool atmosphere the old location had. However, they...More

Jon_PHK, Thank you for the review. I'm very relieved to hear that you enjoyed the new place. Phew! As for the wine, we are working on it. We still have all the old wines at the old prices from the old place, but, to be...More

Very friendly environment with great service. Loved the wine options, and the wine we selected. Was surprised that a "filet" restaurant had very dry filets -- even ordered medium rare. Maybe it was a bad chef night. Would go back and eat at the bar.

Description
An "only in Key West" restaurant, The Flaming Buoy Filet Co. makes a statement on the hushed stage of a residential neighborhood. It is one part retro supper club, one part sassy corner bistro, and one part highly personal whim. Fred Isch, self-proclaimed Air Force Brat, grew up in every geographic segment of the country with a mother who loved cooking and collecting recipes. His partner, Scot Forste, grew up on the farm where his mother, bored of city life, spontaneously relocated to get back to the land, breed horses, and grow fresh, healthy food. Every recipe on the Flaming Buoy menu is an interpretation of something Fred or Scot ate at their respective family tables. Local additions, like seafood, tropical fruits, and Cuban flavors reinterpret the nostalgia, and the result grabbed the attention of the New York Times in 2011. Whether from a porch seat next to pots of herbs, or inside a white dining room accented in orange, dining the Flaming Buoy way is delicious and fun.
