It's a great Cafe the food is amazging.

I am a local and there are a few things to know about Hobo's. First off it's landlocked so no water views here - however it still remains one of my favorite places since the quality and price of the food are so exceptional! Next, the portions are large - so unless you are getting appetizers to share you will not walk out hungry. Think of sharing a plate since you might end up wasting food if you are in town touring or passing though. If you choose the Lobster Mac N Cheese or the Blackened Mahi Taco's the food here is something special these are a few of my personal favorites. The other point is that they do offer a 'healthy fare' so you can get a GREAT salad made to your liking so you don't have to blow your diet on vacation and you will get a big salad!

The best food of our whole trip!

I review dozens of restaurants a month. As a caterer and gourmet chef, I'm pretty picky in general. Hobo's did not disappoint in any area. We ate there twice on our trip. Every single thing we had was fabulous. From the plain burger my son ordered that was huge and perfectly cooked to the dishes we ordered. I can't say enough good things about the mahi done Key Lime style, or the Lobster or the gator. All were scrumptious! The Key Lime sauce is a lime ,butter sauce with green onions, tomatoes and parmesan cheese: TO DIE FOR!!! Vanessa the manager gets a big shout out as do our servers Alex and Tammy. Service is excellent. If you're anywhere near Key Largo and love FRESH seafood, this is totally a cut above the rest in taste, service and atmosphere!.

A surpringly delicious treat!

Upon first glance, this restaurant does not look promising. The outside of the building is rather under-wheming. But it had come highly recommended, so we gave it a try. We chose to dine on the patio, and we’re glad we did. It was rather small, but somewhat elegant, and very comfortable, once they turned down the fans. There was an extensive menu, priced in the range of most of the key’s more upscale restaurants. We had the mahi, prepared “key largo style”, which involved a creamy, delicious topping over the fish. I believe it was the best preparation of mahi that I had ever experienced! The service was friendly and attentive, and is one of the many reasons we will most likely return here on future visits.

Good food, poor service

As a party of 5 we waited 15 minutes for a table - but 2 parties of 4 that arrived after us were accommodated on adjacent tables. Our server had to pass other tables to get to us and with demanding diners "upstream" he was readily diverted. The result was after waiting for a table, we ordered drinks, then waited at least 10 minutes to order dinner. Food was OK not great. I understand that many restaurants add a service charge for groups over 6 or 8 people. We were only 5, yet 18% was added - unimpressed. Hobo's was recommended to us by a local. I won't recommend it unless they resolve their patchy service.

Great food at a good price

Nice outside dining area. Food and service was great! Fried seafood platter was so good- shrimp, mahi, scallops and calamari! Cole slaw is delicious so make sure you opt in for it- it’s available at no extra charge. Clam chowder was super creamy with lots of clams and piping hot. Blackened fish trio was also delicious! Wish we’d had room for desert! Best meal yet in Key Largo!

Delicious, fresh food

We enjoyed our dinner here. I had blackened Hogfish and my husband had blackened Mahimahi. The portions are large and they are served with vegetables or potatoes and yummy coleslaw. The service is friendly and efficient. Their key lime pie is fabulous. I definitely will come back here.

Great Sea Food

First time visit, after being disappointed at our first choice of a place to eat we spotted Hobo's on RT 1 and decided to give it a try. The place was nice, crowed, and clean. Seafood was good for the region (being a new englander I know good seafood) the drinks were generous and I would return a second time. Good choice for good food.

So much food!

Went to dinner, we heard it was good. Appetizer of ceviche was excellent. Ordered seafood hobo...3 different seafoods with onions, tomatoes, etc over pasta. Excellent! Had so much left over from both of us, we couldn't believe it. Wait staff excellent, too. Would not hesitate to go again. And we have dinner for tomorrow!

I had the hog fish sandwich

I had the hog fish sandwich for lunch and it was the best fish sandwich this Floridan foodie has eaten in his 50 years. The hog fish was a $5 up-charge and held its oversized meat together which extended over 4inches beyond the brioche buns. The sandwich was messy but absolutely perfect. Don’t miss this place!

Great food at really reasonable prices

Went to hobo‘s on our way out of the keys. We were greeted with a very friendly staff. This restaurant is not fancy, not decorated beautifully, but you will find great food at reasonable prices and the menu is extremely extensive. There were four of us and we each tried something different and were all really happy with our meals. Nice to still find places like this.

Great Lunch Spot

I got the Caribbean Jerk Chicken Salad. It was excellent and included a tortilla type bread with melted Mozzarella and peppers. There was a black bean and corn salsa, too. I loved it. My husband got the Lobster sandwich which he didn’t care for because it was fried - he wasn’t aware of that until he got it. The service was exceptional- no less than four different wait staff came to our table. We were the first ones at the restaurant at 11am but they were extremely attentive l. I highly suggest it.

Late lunch

We had a sampler appetizer plate for a late lunch-conch fritters, smoked fish dip, blackened mahi "fingers" and coconut shrimp. Hit the spot. The shrimp were great. Outdoor seating was full even at late afternoon. Friendly service. Beer and wine only, no liquor.

This place seems to always be packed since the food is so good. They have an EXTENSIVE menu, indoor and outdoor seating, and quick service. We ordered a chicken Cesar salad and it was one of the largest I have ever been served, with delicious crisp lettuce.

We had clam chowder and lobster bisque. Both were served piping hot and had a great flavor and texture. For the entree we had the grouper and fried shrimp. Both were amazing.....even the loaded bake potato and beans and rice sides were spot on. We ate outside due to COVID and the atmosphere is simple.

Not that impressed despite

Not that impressed despite all the good reviews . Opted for outside seating , small patio overlooking some extra chairs . Went at 11:30 and by 12 the place was packed . Ordered conch fritters - too bready and no much conch . Had the key west lobster sandwich - bun was way too big had to take it off and eat with fork and knife . I kept adding salt didn’t have much flavor . Had it with cole slaw which was good but they gave you a lot . I would rather have had a little and some fries . Also had the key west Cobb with lobster and shrimp . Not much lobster and shrimp were tough and not flavorful. Service was good but not impressed with food .
