About
Established in 1983. The Crabby Bill's adventure started with Bill Loder and his wife Dolores who, in 1968, moved to Madeira Beach, Florida. They not only sold blue crabs along the roadside, but also did the fishing, clamming, and hauling of seafood all throughout the state until they finally opened their very own small restaurant, Captain Bill's Beach Kitchen in 1975. Mom cooked, Dad shucked clams, oysters, and the like while the kids pitched in to lend a helping hand. After several locations, including restaurants in Redington Shores, Madeira Beach, Bay Pines, and Tyrone, and many boats, crab traps and refrigeration trucks later, they moved in April of 1983 to Indian Rocks Beach. Crabby Bill's has continued to grow over the years. What started as a small 800 square foot building on Gulf Blvd now includes several additions to the Crabby Bill Family Brands: Jake's Coastal Cantina, Seabreeze Island Grill, Pipo N Betty's Bakery, Crabby Bill's St. Pete Beach, and more.

Crabby Bill's hardly needs another great review because the place is bumping pretty much any night of the week. But I've got to share our enthusiasm for our dining experience here. There were plenty of food options. We started with the smoked fish dip. It was delicious and not too heavy on the smoke flavor as I've had elsewhere. I had the "real grouper dinner" and it was amazing. I'm a grouper lover and this hit the spot. My daughter loved her blackened salmon and hubby really like his chicken melt sandwich. Wait time was a little long at 45 minutes on a Wednesday night in summer, but it was well worth it. Also, don't miss the gift shop. Great place to spend that wait time.

We went here for the stone crab and were not disappointed. It was a great portion for the price we got the medium ones served hot with butter. We ate in the bar and there was a great band. The service (bartender) was attentive and professional. Great evening and once again you don’t need complicated just excellent seafood.

We visited on a Sunday evening. There was live music that was a little too loud. The food was really good, however I feel we could have gotten a little more for the money. His shrimp pasta had 4 shrimp. This was a big bowl of delicious noodles and shrimp, but only 4! I had broccoli for a side, maybe like 5 decent pieces total. I dont mind paying good money for good food, just give a little more of what you are serving. Our server Cam did a great job!

Check your bill! Drink menu said "floaters" (an extra shot) cost $1. After we cashed out noticed they charged $1.50 each time. When I spoke to the waitress, she said, "we just changed the prices on the menu". When I replied so all these drink menus on all these tables need to be changed? She came back with, want to see the manager. Not going back, too bad, food was good.

Irene, we are so sorry to hear of the disappointing experience you had while dining with us. Our drink menu did changed this month and the $1 up charge for a floater is correct. It was a typo in the computer when we updated our system and we are sorry for the overlook. Last night, my husband and I went over to Crabby Bill’s to have a couple of drinks and to spend some time with good friends. When our friends arrived we sat at a table with 3 chairs, so we started to bring a chair from an empty table next to us that also had three chairs, but previously had FOUR, one of which was moved to another table by the “manager” RJ. We were asked by the bartender Sam to not move any chairs, my husband complied and put the chair back. The “manager” RJ then felt he had to throw his weight around by very loudly and rudely, in front of a restaurant full of people, chastising us for attempting to move a chair. Our friend was forced to stand, and was then told (again, very loudly and rudely by RJ) that he wasn’t allowed to stand either, as it would be considered “congregating”. We told him we would further comply by leaving and patronizing PJ’s Oyster Bar, since our business was clearly not appreciated. He very RUDELY told us to go, several times, again very loudly in front of other customers.
I thinks it’s important to mention that my husband and I have been regular customers of Crabby Bills since the 1980’s, and for the past five years we are there almost every day. We consider many of the employees like family. We routinely spend $500.00-600.00 a month there.
Case in point, we will NOT be returning to Crabby Bills again, and it would behoove the top management to give their employees some training in the basics of hospitality and customer retention. Going forward we’ll be very happy to spend our money at other local establishments, and so will our friends.

Went with my husband for dinner and sat at the bar. The bartender Sam was wonderful and was the best part of our dinner. We ordered a few appetizers which came out pretty slowly so we decided to order our entrees knowing it was busy and could take longer than normal. After about 30 minutes my cold entree came out, however not my husbands hot entree. Sam was very apologetic and let us know it would be out soon. Long story short, the food never came. We were tired from traveling and I was well done my cold meal, so 30 minutes later we said not to worry about it and left, a bit hungry.

We usually try to eat a a different restaurant every night when we are on vacation. However, we made an exception for Crabby Bill's. They had the BEST stone crab chowder! We ate it for 2 nights. Drinks were very reasonably priced and getting to listen to live music was a bonus! Would highly recommend this place!

Had the gator bites which were really good but the fries tasted like day old McDonald’s. Sent them back and 10 mins later got new fries that were just as bad if not worse. Good thing it was finger food as we had no silverware.
Was so looking forward to the 1lb lobster tail. It looked great but man was I disappointed. Was served with no silverware and a very small (~1oz) of butter. Had to eat wait for silverware (about 5 minutes) and then was only given one knife for 4 people to share. So by the time I could cut up my lobster it was cold and chewy.
Had to seek out a manager who didn’t seem to care.
One good thing was the live music. I won’t be going back unless it’s just for the music.

When we got there the place was packed (Thursday night) but didn't take long for a table, had the fried seafood platter, fair amount of fish got to try all there fish, my only complaint is that I found it to be very salty, and the hushpuppies were to sweet, so next time I'll try it broiled and a different side.
Our waitress was great (Stephane) and very pleasant would like to have her again. They have music outside but it was to cold so we didn't stay long. Will definitely come back and try something different and listen to the music longer

Crabby Bill's offers a great variety of seafood selections in a VERY casual setting. The prices are mid-range moderate and the decor is fun-nautical.
We enjoyed the 1/2 lb steamed shrimp [@ $7 Tues special] and the crab-stuffed flounder [@ $19] with cups of clam chowder and red crab soup [@ $4 & $5]. All was excellent. Total bill: $30.
NOTE: Bill may be 'crabby' but he offers a generous military discount. THANK YOU!

This place is awesome! There was a 30 minute wait, but they text you when ready, so we took a short walk. Great location by the beach. The live music is in the bar further down so it’s not too loud in the restaurant if you don’t want music. We had the low country boil & original seafood dinner with grouper. The server helped show how to crack the crab legs to get out the meat. Everything was absolutely delicious and it’s a lot of food. It was so great we ate there 2 nights in a row.

High point was the excellent happy hour-priced draft beer.
The fried grouper sandwich was served hot but on a cold bed of french fries with a slice of industrial tomato and a chunk of red onion. The "fresh"fried clam strips were cold, greasy and scarely edible. The clam chowder might have been good had it not been delivered lukewarm.

On my vacation to Indian rocks beach several years ago I happened across crabby bills and I’ve become a yearly regular. Although I wish they hadn’t raised prices this last year, they still have phenomenal happy hour prices, improved by happy waitstaff and live music. Jessica helped me out this last visit and was nothing short of a small sip of sunshine. She checked in on my bar-adjacent table regularly despite it being quite busy and kept the drinks comin! Make sure to visit crabbys (but mostly Jessica) on your next visit.

We arrived later after dinner time - 8:30 pm and were still treated like welcomed guests. Ronnie was delightful, efficient and checked back on us frequently. The oyster/shrimp combo was fresh, slaw was good and broccoli was as well. The fried pickles were about a 5 on a 1-10 scale for spiciness.

The staff at Crabby Bill’s Indian Rocks Beach made a family gathering today of 3 generations of local and out of Townes even more special with thoughtful and caring accommodations of our large group with seniors and a toddler. They set us up with long tables with chairs in their sunset room and it just made for a special setting to enjoy each other and great food at reasonable prices. All of the staff from the manager to the hostess to our server to the oyster shucker who our toddler found so very entertaining were stellar, friendly and accommodating. The onion rings, shrimp, grouper, and mac&cheese were all hits! Well done Crabby Bill’s, we appreciate you!
