Great for cocktails, terrible for food

The drinks are outstanding and it's fun to sit at the bar and watch the bartender create. Don't bother ordering either of the sandwiches - they were terrible and overpriced. You get a bowl of Lay's potato chips with your drinks -- I think I remember getting homemade chips 2 years ago. Also 2 years ago they had a very good special that was "leftovers" from a sister restaurant. Nothing like this now.

Fun spot for a snack and pre-dinner cocktail

What a great concept! Haven't we all (especially in 2020) thought of alcohol as medicine? Of course in times of COVID you get you make appointments (rather than reservations) and they take your temperature at the door. They have a very interesting cocktail list and a wide range of alcohol (however the Gin list was much more extensive than what they actually had available). We also had the fish spread which was just the right amount to not ruin your appetite for dinner. I highly recommend it.

A tale of two reviews

Went to the Drs. Office last week. 2 of us sat at the bar. Really great service, cocktails and excellent food. An outstanding, relaxing evening! Went to Drs. Office 2 weeks ago. 4 of us sat in the dining room. Food was excellent. Service only ok. I asked for a recommendation on wine with dinner as 2 of us were ordering different things, was told “white wine” (?!) Then my grouper arrived before I’d finished my salad. In and out in one hour :( Tk god the food was amazing! 2.5 weeks ago 4 of us went to another well known local restaurant. Almost as good food, 2 cocktails were missing the main ingredient which was then delivered in a separate glass 15 mins later. Service was almost 3 hrs. Cocktails same price for non-premium liquor as D.O. Craziness in AMI this time of year, but at least the D.O. takes advance reso’s. Smart. We’ve been twice this year and will probably go again. Overshot the runway on our Xmas gift certificates (great deal BTW!), but who cares! The other place? They don’t even take reso’s. You line up and put your name on a list and hope it’s not a 3 hour wait just to get inside, never mind the 3 hour service. Bottom line? The Drs. Office has the best cocktails, food and service on AMI.

Ridiculously Iverpriced for a Small Plate Concept

Overpriced for the portion size of these small plates and nickel and dime you with extra charges. Waiters attitude very apathetic. They clearly cater to a tourist crowd that they assume are one time visitors

Worst service I have ever experienced in my life. The four of us were seated in a room that had approximately 5 tables. We were the first to be seated. Our server entered the room 10-15 minutes later and went to the table seated after us and took their cocktail orders. She then came to our our table at which time we ordered three Tito’s up with lemon twists and one gin up with olives. All of the tables were then filled and, no kidding, everyone in the room received their cocktails except us. Some even were served starters. We questioned the server, and she told us she had no control over the bar. Huh? After several heavy nudges and a visit to our table from the house manager, we finally received our cocktails 50 minutes after we were seated. It was as though we were on Candid Camera it was so outrageous. Our server continued to remind us that the only thing she was there for was to take our orders (which she apparently never turned in). Again, she had nothing to do with food being served. A real plus…she did finally bring us the bottle of wine we ordered. After receiving the worst service ever, we were required to pay a 20% gratuity. My husband and I are generous tippers…we almost always leave 30% for good service. I felt like we were being forced to pay this woman a gratuity for basically doing nothing. Will definitely never return and will spread the word to everyone we know in order to save them the trouble.

Buyer beware

Went here for dinner with my wife. Big mistake. If you are looking for overpriced specialty cocktails, then this is your place. Food portions are dismal. We ordered what we thought would be two entrees based upon the price however what we received was two appetizers. My wife ordered the salmon entree and what she received was what you would expect to put on a bagel in the morning. It was approximately 2 to 3 ounces of uncooked thinly sliced salmon with two small pieces of toast and some cream sauce. When I pointed out the portion size to our server, the response was that it was more of an appetizer than an entree. When the check came at almost $120 for two drinks and two appetizers, I informed the waitress that the meal was not worth that amount. She responded that there were many more items on the menu that were more expensive than what we ordered. I responded "that doesn't matter... this was not a good value" and her response was "well we are not a value restaurant". To top it off, a 20% gratuity was added for marginal service even though there were only two of us. I would have paid more if the service and food were good. The fact that they automatically add gratuity tells me that they have had unhappy customers in the past and must now automatically add it in so that the tip is not reflective of the poor service and food.

Very disappointing. Will not return.

We actually were coming to this restaurant to scout it out for out of town guests who are coming in 2 weeks. We had reservations scheduled for their visit. When we got there tonight at 6:15 it was busy and the host asked if we had reservations. We did not and he said he could get us in at 7:30. So went out and walked around for a bit excited and hungry to get back and enjoy some food and drinks. We went back around 7:10 to check and see if we might get in earlier and the host insists that he told us 8:30. He definitely told us 7:30 but he would not budge on what he said…as if it even mattered. What happened to customer is right? And it’s not like we both misheard him. Quite rude and basically calling us liars. Definitely left a bad taste in our mouth…bad medicine. We are canceling our reservation for our guests and will not return. At least admit that maybe you misspoke and tell us that unfortunately our table won’t be ready until 8:30. But no, he was quite unprofessional and unfriendly. Very disappointing.

Don't waste your money on this one!

I wanted to take my family between Christmas and New Years. There were 5 adults and 3 children. We were excorted thru a filty back area , past the garbage and someone frying shrimp outside. There was NO children's menu. They offered a flat bread pizza for the kids. The drinks were awful and not sure if mine had any vodka in it at all for it tasted like water. My meal was 6 tiny pieces of lobster in garlic butter with 2 pieces of toast for over 25.00. The shrimp taco were also small pieces of shrimp. I found it very expensive for the small portions. Will NEVER return. Very diasppointed. Waste of money.

Recent Appointment at the Dr’s

My husband and I make a point to come here at least once during our time on AMI. We love the vibe inside the bar area best although they also now have a cute outdoor garden space as well. The craft cocktails made by these bartenders are delicious and amazing and part of the fun is watching them being assembled. Not having dinner, I cannot comment on the food but the apps going by looked pretty darn good. We had friends with us this time and arrived a bit early for a 5 pm “appointment “ so Sean (owner/manager) delightedly chatted us up in the garden while we waited…. Oh and also gave us each a complimentary vaccination shot as well. They gave you a small bag of Lays potato chips to munch on with your drink, quirky and fun. It’s not cheap to visit here, but after all you’re on vacation. I’m my opinion it is $$ very well spent!

The Doctor Needs to Check his Employees' Sight and Hearing!

I really wanted to experience this place because it sounded so unique but please all recent reviews. I can't remember the last time I walked out of a place but that's what I did tonight. I knew I couldn't enjoy a drink at the bar after just 10 minutes. I was the first one in the door and asked if I could sit at the bar, was told yes. A couple sat down next to me a few minutes later. A male bartender came up and greeted them with lots of small talk about the menu, drinks, etc. and never looked at me even though I was right next to the woman. Even though there about 5 people working behind the small bar none of them noticed me. Disgusted, I asked one of the women behind the bar if she was my server, her replay, "any of us can be". I asked what the brand of the bourbon was in the Brown Derby, she said it's a mix of whiskey and rye. I said, but what is the brand? Her answer was it was from Tampa but she could give me another low-end bourbon I'm familiar with. She didn't ask if I'd like to have one. I sat there, sort of glazed over. I got to thinking that if I bought $16 drink with lower end spirits plus automatic 20% tip, which would not be deserved, I would regret it. I got up and left. I'll spend my money elsewhere tomorrow.

Time to fine a new office

When you make a reservation and place comments plan that they do not read the comments. The reservation was made 12 days in advance and they had no issue taking our money on the reservation but I guess they should not have a comment area since they do not read them. We were told I should have made. My reservation for 4& 4 and not 6+ with comments stating if it is a issue let us know. They evidently don’t have a manager as they would rather escalate the situation with the door guy and the male bartender telling us we must leave when questioning the situation saying we could ask for free drinks all night on the comments doesn’t mean it will happen. Do not waste a dime at this place as the clearly have no understanding of how to do business. And for the record we are year round residents of AMI and we spend money so it is their loss! The absolute rudest staff ever!

Beach Bistro

Hi Teena, We have spoken to our team that was working that night to better understand the situation. Between our website, reservation portal, and booking notifications, we have clearly stated that we can only seat six people per reservation due to our covid-19 protocols. We even left you a message before you arrived saying that you would need a second reservation for the rest of your group. We would have loved nothing more than to provide you with the enjoyable experience we are known for, but due to the extremely rude and aggressive behavior displayed by your group (to the point where we had to get the police involved), our business cannot recommend your return to The Doctor’s Office in the future. We hope you find happiness elsewhere.

Unfriendly and get going

Door greeter was unfriendly. After an hour and 45 minutes, and $300.00, we were rudely asked to leave because there were others waiting. We are locals who used to enjoy bringing our many guests but we will not be back, and will discourage visitors from going because of bad vibes.

A trendy cocktail bar in a converted doctors surgery.

Opens at 5p.m. People queuing to get in at this time. Very popular, Drinks are quite expensive on average $12 . Tip is added to final bill @20% . There are snack type foods available. Worth a visit .

Quaint little hole in the wall

My wife and I had a date night away from the kids and on a suggestion from a friend at home went here. We were not disappointed at all the food and service were excellent. Our server was Mary and she did a great job. Drinks were really well made and the warm roast beef sandwich with horseradish was huge!

You will feel much better after going to the doctors office!

Great place, especially for cocktails! We went to dinner….only planned for cocktails and were so pleasantly surprised. Had mediterranean appetizer, as well as the deviled eggs. Delicious. My husband and daughter had the lobster from tacos, I and my son-in-law had braised short rib. We all Loved it. Service was awesome. Our server, whose name I can’t remember, had a great sense of humor and was incredibly attentive. It was a great surprise because I thought they were really known just for cocktails. What highly recommend. BUT make a reservation!
