I live kind of far away from this place. Being Peruvian had a bit of craving for a Peruvian pan con chicharron as I saw images and good reviews. Took my teenage daughter on a Sunday hoping to find basics, good food and friendly service....Upon arrival asked a man there (believe owner) was in a bad mood, restaurant a bit empty. I asked him about the sandwiches he said they had oriental seasoning. Asked him if he didn't have the Peruvian with salsa criolla as advertised, he got mad. I told him just wanted to ask, and that I really wanted a sandwich, and he told me I ask stupid questions. Also the price he said was $12.99 for each, higher than what the page offers. I pointed to this and he got even madder. Three sandwiches and drinks would have cost nearly $50. I quickly turned around and left. Drive all the way there wasn't lost. Went to Peruvian Seafood place (has the name of Hemignway's favorite fishing spot in north Peru) a couple of blocks away and was treated very nicely. Big dishes, friendly service which is what matters most but the food was good and unlike J28 it was completely crowded. I think no question about the menu should be considered stupid, particularly as Peruvian pan con chicharron is a traditional recipe and it was advertised as such. Not as an oriental creation. Best option is to go to Pork and Belly restaurant (McNab), though you have to add the Peruvian criolla sauce, which Cabo Blanco sold me for $3.99. I am sorry I had to write this review but trying to ruin somebody's Sunday food outing deserves this. I waited a day to reconsider writing something and I think is well deserved. I must add I do not believe the reviews at all, otherwise volume would show it. Must add I am a Peruvian food enthusiast and this is a very rare experience. Peruvians are mostly friendly and glad to receive customers at most restaurants but apparently not here. Didn't try the food but if it would have been good perhaps the place would have looked like the restaurant I ended up going. I thank the owner of this place for his rudeness as it was an opportunity to practice tolerance and led me to a really good place I will visit repeatedly and direct all well meaning customers to it.More
