With apologies to the people of High Springs, Florida, I was not expecting to find a restaurant of this quality there. Exquisite food, and excellent service and atmosphere. Anytime I am in the vicinity of High Springs, I will make it a point to return to the Great Outdoors Restaurant!

What a "find" in our exploration of north central Florida! The food was excellent from the shrimp bruschetta, the perfectly cooked Bison Burger, the excellent Tennessee Tenderloin, and the two different desserts, chocolate mousse and the Blantons' Peanut Brittle Ice Cream Pie. Our waitress was very helpful, cheerful, and attentive. The live music was a bonus and we would definitely... More

Party of 6 for quiet get together Saturday night. Called for reservations, girl was obviously new as all initial answers were "we can't" oriented. Overhearing manager in background listening in... we finally got reservation for time we wanted. However had to answer odd questions such as 1. Any kids? 2. How will check be split? Seemed odd. When we arrived... More

My hubby and I are the parents of five children and it's rare that we have a date night away from out kiddos. Our went all out on this one. I had a glass of wine that was excellent and we started our meal with the calamari. I loved the wine, not so impressed with the calamari. I've had better... More

We have been here a number of times, some great and some OK. Last night's dinner was disappointing. First, it took at least 10 minutes to be served drinks (simple soft drinks and water). The service for everything was slow. Our nacho appetizer, when it finally arrived, came out missing the barbecue sauce and had only two pieces of meat.... More

Unbelievable that such an Awesome restaurant would be in such a small town. From the gigantic burgers: 1/2 off on Tuesdays to the delicious after lunch coffee with real cream. Not those truck stop pockets that have a extended shelve life. And to top it all off the coconut cream pie was simply unparalleled! Made our day! Oh did I... More

I live on the east coast with family in High Springs so we go to The Great Outdoors often. We enjoy the atmosphere, the back patio, and the service is usually good. However, my issue is there are so many fried foods that I usually order the salad with grilled chicken. I would love to have grilled chicken with some... More

We stopped in for a light lunch. I had the spinach salad and added Cajun shrimp. The only issue is I think it would be better served in a bowl rather than a plate. It was very tasty and perfect for lunch. My husband had the fish Reuben which he felt did not have enough fish. He had the homemade... More
