Gainesville has many yummy locally owned pizza places. There are often arguments among locals about the best local pizza, but Satchels has not only wonderful food but quirky fun ambiance and a warm family environment that attracts everyone. It is an experience to go to Satchels/ Lightnin' Salvage and it is an eclectic place to take visiting friends. You see... More

It's the best pizza and ambiance combo in the 'ville, hands down. You can't beat the van, playground, junk shop, music, bocce ball, quick service, beers, sodas, salad, and of course, pizza. We came the first year they opened while we were dating and it was a small, inside-only pizza place. My band has played at Lightnin' Salvage along with... More

The crust and sauce make this pizza awesome! Had a slice of the Mama and chose bacon, sausage, banana peppers, and red onion. It definitely hit the spot.

Satchels is a must visit if traveling to Gainesville. Looks like a junkyard from the outside, once inside very interesting place to be appreciated. Funky and fun. Has lots of weird nooks and crannies. Visited two times in the last year.first visit, I ordered a calzone which was huge and delicious. This past visit, ordered a pizza, when delivered the... More

It's a very unique place...more like a hippy resort with all the funky things to explore. A lot of times, when you have a place this entertaining..the food is so-so, but not Satchel's. The pizza is really good. I only deduct 1 star because they don't take plastic, cash ONLY! That's the main reason I don't go more often.

Satchel's is quite the eclectic place when you can enjoy some delicious food with a quaint environment. Whether you choose to sit outside in the van or at a patio table or inside, you will spend much of your time in amazement of what can be made out of perceived junk. Nothing goes unused. Everything in the decorations had a... More

Absolutely love this place. It's a recyclers paradise! There is so much to see, so many nooks and cranies. Cash only - no problem, they've got an ATM for that. Servers all share in responsibilities so one is always available. They are attentive and friendly. Order the salad and buy a bottle of dressing to take home! Build your own... More
