Our first time here and we had a wonderful experience. My husband had a perfect NY Strip and I enjoyed the freshest grouper I've had in ages. The cocktail menu was exemplary. Was thankful for the children's menu, too. Our server, Drew, was perfectly charming!

This restaurant features fresh locally sourced food and prepares it as well as any place I have eaten. The menu changes often, so there usually are no "specials", it is all special. It is not very bust, so you don't need to call long in advance, and can eat at the bar if there are no tables. The deserts are... More

Our meal was very mixed. The carrot salad was delicious. The grouper was very fresh, and well prepared but tasteless. It lacked salt, mostly, The 'mushroom risotto' was nothing more than rice mixed with mushrooms, not a real risotto. I dined with a local to Gainesvllle, who commented that the wrong chef was cooking that night. Maybe that was the... More

I used to regard Mildred's as my favorite restaurant in Gainesville, but they are missing the mark these days. Appetizers are still good, so are soups and salads. The entree I had, a duck leg stuffed with pork sausage was tasty in the beginning, but as I continued to eat it the flavor of black pepper became overwhelming. I had... More

I had occasion recently to have Sunday brunch at Mildred's, not having dined there in quite a long time. The Greek quiche with spinach and red pepper was not particularly outstanding and the chicken barley vegetable soup had a very odd flavor. The focaccia bread was just OK. The service was fine, atmosphere fine. I won't be anxious to return... More

Wonderful calamari salad. House made buttermilk ranch was exceptional. Ambiance/service is a little less than perfect but food wins you over. Would highly recommend as a top lunch spot in Gainesville. Sandwiches also worthy of note. This was not my first stop and food has all been very good.

We found this restaurant somewhat difficult to locate. There are two sections, an order at the counter section and a table service area. We opted for table service. The menu was fairly diverse and appealing. We had sandwiches with small salads on the plates. The food was good. Our only complaint was very slow service. We thought we arrived after... More

We joined another couple for their anniversary at their suggestion. We had not been to Mildreds in a long time and were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is upscale. the food is a bit on the pricey side, but worth it. Everyone enjoyed the food and the wine choices. Everything was cooked perfectly. We returned a few weeks later with another couple... More

We stopped in Gainesville for an overnight and discovered this restaurant near our hotel. It's hidden in the corner of a plaza so in the dark evening, we had a little hard time finding the entrance. They have a great selection on their menu, including some unusual items. Food and cocktails were fantastic, service was attentive, and all within a... More

The location of the restaurant is a bit hidden. As a senior trip advisor I can say that this is definitely the best restaurant in town. Unasuming storefront with a modest elegance on the inside. I was served by James and the service was great. I tried the crab cakes as appetizer and they are delicious and the grouper which... More
