What a lovely restaurant . The room itself is homey, and makes one feel they are right in Italy. The menu is varied, the portions are hearty, and the food is tasty. I selected one of the early bird specials. It came with delicious garlic knots served with their homemade balsamic reduction, the choice of soup or salad, your main course and the house dessert. My salad was crisp and good; partner chose the meatball soup which was deemed delicious. I chose a blackened shrimp, which was creamy and delicious. Today’s dessert was a lemon cake, which was fresh and moist.

We stopped in for lunch today and it was very good. Our server was super nice and the owner even stopped by our table to make sure we liked everything. My son had a chicken Caesar salad and I had the gnocchi... the portions were big and both tasted delicious! The homemade bread was awesome too. We took a pizza togo to our family... they loved it and couldn’t stop talking about it! We will definitely go back soon to try the pizza for ourselves!

Pomodoro which is near Santa Fe College off of the 1-75 39th St exit is one of our favorite Italian restaurants. We always go here when visiting Gainesville.
The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere with extensive murals and nice seating. Service is professional, and prices are reasonable and the desserts are first rate.
The owner/chef stopped by our table to ask how our meal was. So that is a sign that they that care about their customers.
Everyone's food was delicious. We will continue dining here.

I placed an order over the phone and when I went to pick it up, the sides I’d ordered were missing. I’d ordered a Caesar salad and got a garden salad with no dressing instead. The bread was super oily and was soaking thru the to-go bag. The food lacked any sauce. They offered a $50 certificate promotion for $25 but I found out it was not valid on any deals and had to be used all at once or the value would be lost. When I ordered the family extravaganza meal, the server did not take off the discount at checkout for ordering during the lunch time of day like their menu online mentioned so I was overcharged for terrible food and service. I will not ever eat here ever again. This place deserves no stars instead of even one!

The special of the day was " Aragosta Imbottita" which was described as Maine lobster tail stuffed with crab meat, pan-fried. What was actually served consisted of breaded crab meat shaped like a lobster tail approx, 4" long, with asparagus deep fat fried served on a generous bed of pasta, all for $ 23.95.
This restaurant has become a place for hit or miss adventurers. It used to be our favorite Italian ristorante in town.

We have eaten here about a dozen times. Always lunch but we generally order off the dinner menu. There is a very good selection of pasta dishes that offer lunch up as some kind of early bird special. We love it as it is our main meal of the day and you get the warm garlic bread with their own scrumptious balsamic dipping sauce, a generous house salad (another balsamic creation "house dressing" available), the entrée and a chefs choice dessert, which so far has always been an Italian white cake with chocolate drizzle. What makes this cake Italian, I have no idea but it is good. We've enjoyed various pasta dishes with chicken or seafood tailored to different types of pastas and always prepared in a sauce suitable to the dish. Last week, it was Chicken Catalana and Pasta Valentio. Delicious! take note of the dessert case as you enter. We love the Flan and the Tiramisu. Service has always been spot on, most recently offered by Sam. Great job! If you want a smaller meal, the lunch menu is also very reasonable and offers a decent variety of salads, pastas and (I think) sandwiches. Give them a try, you will be glad you did. Bravissimo Pomodoro Cafe!

I try to eat here whenever I visit Gainesville because their pasta itself is very good; I believe it’s homemade and the sauce is quality. Meatballs are just fair, the portions and entree prices are conducive for me for lunch. The bread before the meal and the pasta fagiole are tasty.
I generally get good service and the restaurant itself is very charming and clean. They have remodeled considerably over the last 15 years.

We have always enjoyed this restaurant...just me and my husband but this week we had a table of ten to celebrate our grandson's graduation from UF. The service was perfect. The food was all delicious and they catered to some special requests for our gluten free folks. I cannot say enough as to how much we enjoyed this evening!

Got off I-75 to get fuel while traveling south. We stumbled across Pomodoro Cafe when avoiding the normal fast food options. We settled in to our booth and were warmly welcomed by our server Dalton B. He quickly gave us some recommendations and we ordered the Frutti di mare seafood combo and the grouper piccata. Excellent choices and very good service. Glad we invested the time to have a wonderful meal before continuing our trip to Bradenton FL.

Was at the UF Health Springhill facility and dropped into the nearby Pomodoro Cafe for a late lunch(till 3:00). Very impressive lunch specials menu. We got the open face calzone and the Al Forno Express combo. For $1 more you can get a tossed salad. The lunch calzone comes with the soup of the day and the house bread. You also get your two favorite add on picks with the lunch calzone. The soup of the day was the seafood soup and it was very good. The calzone was also very good. The Al Forno Express is cheese ravioli, gnocchi, ziti (all meatless) and very good. The beers were on the pricey side so we opted to not partake. Overall a very nice lunch at a reasonable price....each were $7.99

In a nutshell, they just don't care. If it's busy, forget about it. We called in a to go order an hour ahead on a busy night. Arrived and found they had written the order on a notepad and forgotten to put it in the computer. They apologized, took our money and 'expedited the order'. We stood there for - no joke - 90 minutes waiting for our food. I even spoke with the owner while waiting and he shrugged and said 'Yeah, sorry - we're really busy!' Not sure how 90 minutes for pizza is expedited, but they finally handed us 2 pizzas. Then they chased us down in the parking lot to explain that they had accidentally given us the wrong pizzas and that ours weren't ready yet. I said we wanted our money back and they said they were too busy to deal with a refund, they would take care of it once things calmed down, and I should call back later that evening to confirm. I called and they confirmed that they had refunded our money. However, no refund ever hit our credit card. Ended up having to dispute the charge and will NEVER be back. I was a regular customer, but this experience was beyond the pale.

This is not a very good Italian restaurant. The waitress was literally clueless on the menu, did not know any basic questions we had regarding the different sauces or pasta types. It’s obvious that training is nonexistent. The pasta was overcooked and the house sauce was bland. The chicken dish is really thick, not a thin cutlet. They also nickel and dime you for different sauce options on the side of pasta. Extra charges everywhere. I’d suggest better alternatives to this place.

Ordered take out dinners on a road trip. The chicken Francese was delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly and the broccolini was tender. The chicken Parm sub was an unexpected BOGO so that was really nice. House salad dressing was excellent. The portions we received were generous and easily provided leftovers.

Ordered last month off Carry Out Menu and one of the best meals I have had. This time not worthy of my previous review. The dish overall lacked any taste: the lamb was under cooked, the sauce was watery and lacked any flavor, and the risotto was overcooked mush. The watery sauce leaked when tried to put in bag so I was given a cardboard pizza box. Consistency is KEY for a good restaurant. This is not what I have come to expect at Pomodoro.

I went to Pomodoro Cafe on a Saturday night for dinner with a friend. The restaurant was busy and we had to wait maybe 10 minutes for a table. When we got a table, our waiter was very nice and attentive, bringing us bread and making sure our drink orders were in. For my entree I went with the San Francesco Da Sisi, which is a capellini pasta that includes assorted roasted peppers, caramelized onions, diced tomatoes, spinach, chicken breast slices, and shrimp. The flavor was bountiful, especially with freshly grated cheese over the top. Pomodoro has so many tasty menu items that it will make it hard for you to choose. I already know what I would order next time and I can’t wait to go back.
