The uninspired food at Amelias cannot make up for the poor service and rude pretentious behavior of some of the staff and the management. After several visits, we have seen no improvement and have been left with a sour taste in our mouth from the dining experience there.

The food was amazing and the staff there is top notch. The owner/head chef was very hospitable and took care of everyone in the restaurant. We will definitely be going back!

We eat here frequently and always have a great experience. It's a fairly quiet restauant, nice if you enjoy conversation. The chef is a big presence in the dining room and will often be heard playing happy birthday for patrons on his saxophone. The food is just luscious, my favorite being the lobster ravioli. I have to try hard not... More

Eaten there several times. Once for a rehearsal dinner that was superb for a large group. Salads are very good. The Italian entrees are good, but not great. I need to find my dish there.

Went for dinner prior to a play at the Hippodrome - excellent drinks, appetizers, atmosphere, server, and most delicious food!

Our first visit, and we plan to return. Met another couple for dinner in this hidden gem. The owner/chef makes everything individually each day, and you can taste it in each dish! Everyone had something different and no one was disappointed.

Visited this place as part of a Florida road trip. Not only was it the worst meal of the trip, it counts as one of my worst dining experiences ever. The chef is entirely clueless about Italian cuisine (it is a disgrace that the restaurant makes the claims it does), the service is plodding and error-strewn, and the restaurant and... More

Best upscale Italian food in Gainesville. This is a small restaurant with a full bar in the heart of downtown in the Sun Center, adjacent to the Hippodrome Theater. Great location, everything is within walking distance. There is a good-sized patio for al fresco dining which is used year-round. Upon entering, the smells of garlic waft through the restaurant ensuring... More

Where do I start? We ordered the shrimp cocktail and bruschetta as our starters. The bruschetta bread was not toasted so soggy, tomatoes were overwhelmingly over powered by taste of raw garlic. The shrimp cocktail was even worse. The 4 shrimps were accompanied by a sauce which was basically ketchup with some Tabasco added...dreadful and unpleasant. Our main courses were... More

We always go to this restaurant when we visit our daughter in Gainesville. The menu is fairly typical Italian with dishes you find at many or most Italian restaurants but it is the preparation and freshness of the ingredients that make it wonderful. I think it is very reasonable for the quality of the food that is served. Wine is... More
