This has always been my favorite NY/NJ pizza place, and I am not sure what happened last night. The waitress was miserable (not sure she even smiled once) which is so unusual, and the food took over 30 minutes on a Sunday night. Pizza was good flavor-wise, but the amount of crust that did not have cheese/sauce was too much.... More

Big Lou's has about equal indoor and outdoor seating providing you an option depending on mood or weather. They feature NY style pizza and serve large slices with numerous topping options available. They also have several salad options which are very good if you trying to reduce your carb intake or looking for something lighter.

This restaurant has little to no atmosphere, but the service is fast and the kitchen is open to the dining room. They have practically no parking, so park on the street and walk in. The food will come piping hot and the beer is ice cold.

No perks - very simple and rustic place on main street, but the pizza is great and sometimes that is all you need.

Very good pizza, a little thinner than typical chewy New York Style Pizza - but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The slices are huge, like 2 typical slices. Toppings were loaded on. They have a lot of specials, but two big delicious slices and a soft drink for $7 is hard to beat. The place is a little eclectic,... More

Stopped by on a Friday night of a home game weekend. Busy but they kept up with good friendly service. Had a "supreme" pizza. It was very good. Not too heavy on the sauce so you could really enjoy the plentiful ingredients. Fresh garlic could have been a little lighter though. I'll be back.

The pizza by the slice is a great lunch option. If they have it fresh, try the meatball slice. On to the more important detail, sweet potato fries. Just, holy crap. They're outstanding. They aren't on the menu, so remember this post and ask for them.

Spinach salad very fresh and excellent. White pizza with garlic, tasty and at a fair price. Not a large selection of beer, but acceptable. Server Juan was fast and friendly. Would visit again.

Great food. And we had Juan, the best server. Great prices and the food was wonderful. We got small pizza and small Stromboli and they were both more than we could handle

Description
Going ten years strong with a menu designed to make mouths water and a location that embodies Gainesville's Downtown area, Big Lou's NY Style Pizzeria comes from humble beginnings. As many local start-ups do, Lou's developed into the reputable pizza spot it is today through a patient process. Lou Wynn, or "Big Lou" himself, is originally from South Florida but was no stranger to Gainesville. Graduating from the University of Florida with a degree in Health Science, Lou eventually decided to pursue the food industry. He was so inspired to build up his own restaurant (with the help of his supportive wife, Mary) that he was willing to do whatever it took to make it work - and even went as far as selling his car to pay for the original costs. Biking to work for the first few months of business is a whole new level of dedication... Nearly one decade and thousands of pizzas later, Lou's is constantly growing (currently under renovation!) While staying true to its warm and welcoming hometown roots. With a close group of team members, fun atmosphere and fresh ingredients that make our variety of menu items so satisfying, we promise any Lou's experience to leave you happy, full, and excited to come back again.
