Recommended by a local, what a shame! Nothing much good to say here. Service was absolutely horrible!
First, we were barely sat down at the table and the server asked what we wanted. (The restaurant was never busy, but had a nice steady flow all...evening.)
We didn't get a refill on our empty drink glasses until we were done with our meal and asked for our check. I realize this is not a fine dining restaurant but it is a lot of money to put out without some kind of respectable service.
Second, the appetizers were less than appetizing. The gumbo was nothing but roux gravy, very little to no seafood.(It sat at the end of the table full and the server NEVER asked if there was a problem.) The sesame seared tuna was over cooked, almost white throughout. The only good appetizer was the raw oysters.
Third, the "royal red shrimp" was not that great. The shell stuck to it, had to cut it off with the scissors. Pretty sure that means it was old.
So, with that all said. I won't be back. I know there is way better out there.More
Very disappointed in the quality of the shrimp. They were not fresh. The shell was literally stuck to the shrimp. Very difficult to peel. I grew up on the Panhandle and know the difference between fresh and old seafood. The service was excellent and the...atmosphere was pleasant. But I won’t return because of the quality of the shrimp.More
This is the worst seafood place I have ever visited.Food was crap with high prices and meager proportions. The customer service absolutely sucks not to mention the attitude of the Management /owners whatever you want to call them. RUDE is the word that comes to mind....Waitress was horrible but it was not her fault. It was her first night and no -one was bothering to train her so the customers took the hit. Went with 2 friends one had shrimp over noodles with maybe a half dozen tiny shrimp and my other friend had the 1 pound crab leg platter. They must have weighed the plate with the potatoes and corn because there was no pound of crab legs on that plate. My grilled grouper was not grouper at all but talapia or some other trash fish. Take your steamed rip-off yankee restraunt back up north where you came from along with your rude attitude.RUDE RIP OFF.More
One of our favorite places to eat in FWB. We always go early so it's not so crowded. Mussels, bread, salad, steamer for 1, crab cakes and veggies were all great. Prices are about what the other comparable restaurants charge. We think it's worth it.
First off the service was great. The food was average. My filet had no flavor and my lobster was drenched in garlic oil. Our vegetables were was over seasoned too. My husband's steak was a sad cut of meat. Reminded me of Golden Corral. Also...the menu prices were different by up to 20 percent then whats online. Skip this place and go to AJ's next door.More
Love love love this place! Their service is always top-notch and their food is delicious! They were all adhering to safe and social distancing rules, they were cleaning every area constantly and even though they do not have outdoor seating, we felt safe eating indoors.
Ordered crab legs and shrimp. It was most excellent. They were using social distancing and all staff were wearing masks. Everyone in our large group loved their food.
I had an embarrassing moment when I fell backwards in my chair and all the staff were...very concerned and most helpful.
Yes it’s not cheap, but seafood isn’t cheap anywhere!More
We have been dining at the Old Bay Steamer for over 15 years ordering the same steamer platter filled with snow crab, shrimp, corn and new potatoes. Last night's shrimp were so mushy that they were not edible, gross actuaaly. The corn was mushy grey. The...hosts and most of the wait staff wore their mask below their noses or as chin holders. Our waitress, Erica, never acknowledged us. Luckily, we got the attention of someone to wait on us alone in the back corner of the restaurant. We are hugely disheartened as to how poorly our evening went We will be looking for a new favorite, that's for sure!
Menu prices are below the chain beach prices. 2 people with appetizers(3) and 1 nightly special- There is so much food we decided to half a main course after the generous appetizers. Total with tip under $75.
