Matanza’s is our ‘go to’ place when it comes to dining in Fort Myers Beach. Beautiful views from the patio and great atmosphere. Although the menu is limited from past visits (due to limitations from Hurricane Ian) the food options were creative and delicious. The Grouper was to die for. Top it off with the awesome service by Mario our experience was 10+. Mario was attentive and professional and he had a great understanding of all menus options. A true delight. Would recommend and return anytime we are in Fort Myers Beach.

This was our 5th place thus far to investigate the local happy hour scene, and it was good overall. We were fortunate to arrive in time (just before 5:00) to snag one of the few parking spots they have near the restaurant. The real allure to this place is the semi-rustic feel inside and the great views of the bay, both from many of the indoor tables as well as the plethora of outdoor options they have. We chose to sample the Dave's Con Queso Dip ($5), Crunchy Almond Fish Fingers ($9), Buffalo Shrimp ($9), Smoked Fish Dip ($7), and Ribs App ($9). My daughter very much enjoyed the Queso, which was a nice blend of cheeses, peppers and spinach while my wife preferred the Fish Dip with its Mahi and capers. They each came with tortilla chips, but the chips seemed a tad stale. My son really enjoyed the Ribs as he said the meat was tender. I probably preferred the Fish Fingers, but more for the almond crunch that was tasty than the fish that just seemed OK. We liked the buffalo flavor of the shrimp, but we only got 5 small shrimp which didn't seem like a very good value. The actual best value on the menu was their wine ($3.50) from the drink specials. I ordered the Cab and my wife the Merlot. We each got the standard wine glass as well as a small carafe filled with our wine of choice that was enough to fill the glass. Considering most places around here seem to charge $5 for wine on their HH menus, that seemed like the real winner. So overall, we enjoyed our food, although I wouldn't say it was amazing. The real draw is the wine and view.

We visited here on Tuesday, July 20 as a storm started. They closed the screens and we moved to a more interior table as the rain poured down. A man with a guitar sang. It was a fun environment. We ordered stuffed shrimp, pineapple coleslaw, coconut shrimp, pepperoni pizza and key lime pie. It was all very good. Will be thinking about that key lime pie for awhile.

This is a very nice restaurant to look at but if we had known what we were in for, we would never have went there.
I know that everyone has bad days but when a customer is paying $45.00 for one entree, or any amount, I believe that they deserve to be treated with courtesy. That did not happen. We had the worst waitress ever. She was rude, slow, we had to ask for things, that should have been on the table, the bill was wrong, and then she chose to ignore us .Thanks go out to the lady that was the hostess as she got the bill straightened out so that we could leave.
The food was okay, but definitely not worth the price and certainly not worth the hassle and rude treatment. I won"t mention the servers name because I will not treat her like she treated us!!!

We wanted to support local restaurants- the area is still recovering from the hurricane. First time here and only upstairs is reopened. Main restaurant downstairs is shooting for Feb/ March so the menu is very limited. It was good, live entertainment good drinks, friendly staff. They’re so happy that even upstairs has been open. So glad we went!

We arrived about 1:15 on a weekday for lunch and were promptly seated indoors with a beautiful view of the Bay. I ordered a Rumrunner wich was susperb. I ordered the Red Grouper crunchy fried sandwich with the house potato salad. It was a huge and tasty pc of Grouper! Best potato salad I have had living in Florida for 20 years! My wife ordere fried cod sandwich which was also excellent. Expensive but worth it!!! Service and waitress wonderful.

From the greeting by the hostess, to the drinks and food service, this restaurant stands above the others. Of course I’m speaking of Petey’s Upper Deck! The “limited” menu still provides excellent variety. the pizzas ate outstanding! I was quite fond of the Big Kahuna, but as a Canadian (SW Ontario) I swear by pineapple on pizza. Delicious! great musicians for entertainment! The views are also outstanding. Highly recommend!

We went there for the first time and I must said this the typical unhealthy tasteless Cysco food truck restaurant! Most of the menu was something fried, presentation and food quality wasn’t there, everything smell like grease…the drinks were unbalance very strong but with cheap alcohol! The menu was limited and very simple! What save this place it’s the view and the waitress that was attentive and friendly!
That’s it!
Ciao

So happy we found this place last Sunday. We were visiting the north end of the island and frustrated by the lack of parking when we drove down a side street and found this marina based restaurant. We were seated at a shady spot on the deck where we watched boaters dock so they too could grab a bite. I had the shrimp salad sandwich while my wife tried the shrimp burger, both were large and tasty, and I also enjoyed the potato salad side. The wait staff were all great and everyone in the restaurant seemed to be enjoying themselves.

First off our server Erin was fantastic and added to the wonderful meal. I conch chowder and the stuffed Mahi and my wife had broiled Mahi both were cooked perfectly. The Stuffed Mahi is the best I have ever had, the sauce was amazing. Views were great. With all of the construction be patient the arrival will be worth the aggravation.

Three stars was solely devoted to Erin, excellence in service but food was zero stars-blah! All our meals were bad.
Grouper crusted with cornflakes was fishy
Key west lobster tail had this odd “lemon butter” sauce drizzled on top. Lobster tail was rubbery and had this weird Smokey taste.
Even the kids chicken finger meal was DRY over cooked.
Wasted $100….
But Free parking was nice, although a tiny parking lot; And waterview is nice.

My wife and I dined here for the first time. The location, atmosphere, food, and drink were exceptional.I’d highly recommend the Key Lime Colada, might even try 2. Candy(the manager) was very informative about all the food and drinks. We appreciated her attitude and will definitely return on our next visit.

My husband and I decided to brave Fort Myers beach even though it was Thanksgiving week. Many, many people take a week’s vacation to Fort Myers beach and the surrounding area at this time, and the traffic over the bridge was tourist season bad. But, Matanzas is tucked away from the main area and is a (somewhat) hidden gem.
Even though it was 1 pm we were able to get parking right in the courtyard in front of the restaurant. We were greeted immediately when we walked in and were seated immediately too. We had our choice of indoors or outdoors; we preferred outdoors and got a table right on the water. The young woman seating us apologized that the umbrellas couldn’t be used as it was too windy. No problem, we were able to sit at a table in the shade that still had a good view.
Service was prompt and we both got iced tea, which meant a pitcher of iced tea was also delivered to our table. Our server was Rey friendly and nice, as was the young woman who removed our used dishes and delivered our food.
We ordered Stuffed Mushrooms to start, which had a shrimp and crab mixture in them. For entrees I ordered the Crunchy Grouper with a side of Pineapple Coleslaw and my husband ordered a skewer of grilled fresh local shrimp with a side of Pineapple Coleslaw.
The Mushrooms came out right away and were delicious. I noted that they weren’t greasy OR watery. Very filling. Then the entrees came out. My grouper was crusted in corn flakes and had side of orange sauce and tartar sauce. It was very crunchy and was a fresh, thick filet. The orange sauce was excellent and not too sweet. The Pineapple Slaw was also very good with a mild flavor.
My husband’s shrimp were very good and very fresh; we both liked them. He also liked the Pineapple Slaw.
All of the staff and servers wore masks all the time. Most of the patrons wore masks except for when drinking or eating. Some patrons did enter the restaurant from boats right into the outdoor eating area, some had masks and some did not. I saw this and refused the table right next to where they were entering just because of this.
The restaurant and bathrooms were very clean. We will definitely go back before the Season really starts.

We visit this restaurant at least 3 times a month when we are down in FL. The out door seating is perfect and the food is excellent and reasonably priced. The entire staff is very friendly and waiters and waitresses are very attentive but not over bearing. Views from the dock seating is the best and a great location for just an evening out or even a special occasion. The Grouper is one of my regular selections and can be prepared many different ways.
