Let me begin by writing that it was wonderful to see a family run restaurant, lost to a hurricane years ago, revive its wonderful food and extraordinary service to the Ft. Myers community.
It was a reservation at 6 pm at Heidi’s German Restaurant for our family of five and we were hungry. Upon arrival the restaurant was moving briskly. Very friendly table servers organizing tables for the next patrons and food being served with a smile. The place was hopping and patrons were enjoying the food and the ambiance. Like a true German Biergarten, locals were talking and mingling with the servers. Several conversing in German. Servers were setting tables as quickly as patrons were entering. Only Lufthansa works this efficiently and productive. Amazing.
While looking at the menu we were approached by our server who helped us with suggestions and pairing for our food and beer. My daughters ordered a Bavarian Plate of Saurbraten, Pork Roast, Nurnberger Bratwurst served with spaetzle and red cabbage, as well as Jaeger Schnitzel Pork loin with creamy mushroom sauce and potato pancakes. All were very flavorful. They were delish. Forty-eight hours before our arrival, I ordered Pork Hock (Schweinshaxe) and it was waiting for us in all its splendor. Huge, massive, crispy skinned, roasted pork hock. Large enough, that our server suggested to split it between my wife and I. Unfortunately, through the excitement, I didn’t take pictures of this very large pork hock. We washed it down with beer. a dunkel for me and Pilsner for my wife and finished with a homemade German cheese cake with peaches.
Throughout our dinner our server would frequently stop to ask how we were and if we needed anything else. She was every where and her smile and incredible customer service made our experience extraordinary. We will certainly visit again for the flavorful authentic Bavarian food and extraordinary service. We found out upon leaving and asking about our energetic table servers, that our server was Heidi herself the owner. The staff called her to meet us and that was another memorable moment as Heidi automatically struck a conversation with my wife and daughter. What an incredible human being and business owner.
I highly recommend this restaurant. Thank you Heidi for the wonderful food and hospitality.

If you’re looking for authentic German gasthaus cuisine, then this is the right place for you!
We both had the jagerschnizel which was pounded thin yet was oh so tender. It was coated in a crispy perfectly fried breading with plenty of creamy mushroom sauce to top the generous portions.
I had sides of red cabbage and a potato pancake with apple sauce. The red cabbage was perfectly seasoned - the potato pancake was a bit oily but that’s how I remember them from Frankfurt as well. My husband had the sauerkraut and spatzle - I’m not a spatzle fan but he liked it - the sauerkraut on the other hand was literally the best we’ve ever had! We wanted to try the Black Forest cake but it was so popular that it was sold out so we “settled” for the Apfelstrudel which was amazing - the pastry was perfectly baked and the filling was chock full of perfectly spiced apples.
Although the restaurant was packed we got seated and served quickly - our server was funny and helpful and we enjoyed his service throughout the evening. Heidi came out to the dining room to ensure our evening was going well and it was a delight to talk to her again since the last time we had seen her which was when the restaurant was on the beach.
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and will definitely return the next time we are in Ft. Myers.

We walked in at 4:30 opening and it already smelled like a German kitchen. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed by Heidi and staff. Heidi even took some time to explain their history and tragic loss on FMB, and the stress of having to immediately start over with a new business location (quite a story and makes you happy to see them succeeding again in their new location). The wine and beer arrived promptly. The beer from the tap came with a nice foamy head and not ice cold like in many places. We sampled potato pancakes, goulash soup, Käsespätzle, Jägerschnitzel and the Zigeunerschnitzel (Gypsy schnitzel). All were equally delicious along with the sides. We concluded our dinner with some apple strudel which was delicious though it was hard to pick one with the other desserts offered. While enjoying our dinner the restaurant saw a steady stream of patrons arriving and within an hour there were 9 tables taken out of around 14 in total. Despite being busy the service remained great and we were never rushed. If you’re looking for a little Heimatgefühl, with good quality German food and friendly service at reasonable prices, this is your place!

Food is outstanding and prepared with care. Everything is a-la-cart (house salad of mainly iceburg lettuce with diced tomato and a few pieces of green pepper is $11, Caesar is $9, both enough for one) even a squirt of whip cream w dessert is $1.50 extra and no bread basket or dinner roll is offered. Portions are kinda small, we did not come home with leftovers and neither of us are big eaters. When being served I kept getting my husband's food and he mine. They were out of parmesan shavings for the Caesar salad and we were offered Swiss cheese instead? The interior is clean but small and tables are very close together. My bill for two was $115 (w/o tip) and when I pulled out my Amex card to pay I was asked if I had anything else because Amex was expensive to run.

Don't be deceived by outward appearances. It's small, and doesn't look like it has the quality of food they serve or the atmosphere, and it is located in a corner. We had a great time! We had a great waiter that was from MI while all the other staff were from Germany or Austria. He was very engaging and made us all feel comfortable with his sense of humor. Had us laughing throughout the meal. He translated the menu items for us, and we had the Mixed Sausage plate and Black Forest Schnitzel. Both were delicious. Nothing says it's an authentic German food restaurant than having several groups of Germans in the restaurant enjoying their meals. We topped off our meal with Black Forest Cake. The chef came out and visited with us to tell us his wife, Heidi, made the desserts. The chef and the waiter made us feel very special. After ending our conversation, the chef went to other tables and spoke German with some of them. We definitely recommend eating at this restaurant.

What a lovely place! I just spent several hours in a group of 12 eating wonderful food and drinks, laughing, and enjoying the atmosphere with our awesome waitress, Iris. I really can’t say enough about what a truly beautiful night we had. We sat on the outside patio, which was perfect for us. The service was amazing….Iris remembered each of our names, our food orders, our drinks, and our deserts flawlessly. Everyone loved their meals and the deserts! Go to Heidi’s. You will thank me!

Heidi's German Restaurant is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, you feel like family, thanks to Heidi herself, who is truly amazing. Her warmth and hospitality create a welcoming, home-like atmosphere that makes the dining experience unforgettable.
The food is nothing short of incredible—authentic German cuisine made with care and precision. Every bite bursts with traditional flavors that transport you straight to Germany. Whether it's the perfectly cooked schnitzel, hearty bratwurst, or the rich and creamy spaetzle, every dish is a masterpiece.
If you're looking for a place that combines fantastic food with exceptional service and a cozy ambiance, Heidi's German Restaurant is it. This is a dining experience you’ll cherish and want to revisit time and again!

We arrived at 7pm on a Wednesday to find this place totally packed! We were greeted warmly and encouraged to wait just a few minutes for a table. Ten minutes later we were seated. We started with potato pancakes as an appetizer. They were a little gummier than I like but still tasty, served with apple sauce and sour cream on the side. Our entrees: I had the Jaeger Schnitzel with spaetzle and warm German potato salad. I know ... tons of carbs on that plate but I couldn't decide between spaetzle or potato salad so I had both. The spaetzle was very good but OMG, that potato salad was amazing. The best I've ever had and I'm pretty old. Perfectly balanced, just tangy enough, absolutely delicious. The schnitzel was lovely, crisp, tender, just the right amount of savory mushroom gravy. YUM. My husband, who has no experience with German food, had a strip steak and it was good. After tasting my food he said he will definitely order schnitzel next time. Heidi's made him a convert! The portions are generous. Black forest cake, cheesecake and strudel were in the dessert case and it was tempting to take one home but we so full, we decided to come back soon and try them there. The lovely owner, Heidi, came to the table to visit which was a nice touch. Total bill for two glasses of their most expensive wine by the glass, a cocktail, an appetizer and two entrees was $94. Totally worth it!

Five of us went for dinner this evening. We’d been to the Ft. Myers Beach location before and enjoyed it then so when we saw that the new location had opened we couldn’t wait to try it. We are pleased to say that the new location is even better. It’s not very big so get there early if you don’t want to wait. We had a very nice waitress named Iris. She knew the menu very well and checked with the chef when one in our party had a question about what meat was in the meatloaf. Between us we had the potato pancake appetizers, beef sauerbraten, meatloaf, jaeger schnitzel, and mixed sausage plate. The sides we enjoyed were spaetzle, German potato salad, green beans and brussel sprouts. Everything was absolutely delicious. Although we all were very full we couldn’t resist the apple strudel with vanilla ice cream, the Black Forest cake, the plum cake and the German cheesecake with peaches. Although this review may just look like a menu recitation, everything we had was wonderful and I didn’t want to leave anything out. We will be back again soon to enjoy this charming “feels like home” restaurant.

We were eating at Heidi’s today and can say that the food there tastes great. Our service Melanie was super friendly and very accommodating. The atmosphere was similar to a small German restaurant. Heidi also chatted with us a bit. My wife and I were impressed by the speed at which the food came out of the kitchen. Many guests were there and we still did not wait long for our food. We can warmly recommend the restaurant and will gladly come back on our next holiday.

Best German restaurant! Close your eyes and you could see yourself in Europe, enjoying this meal
Don’t forget to order your dessert first because by the time you’re done with dinner, their homemade black forest cake will be gone!
We go at least once a month if not more often

It is so hard to find good German food and this restaurant did not disappoint. The schnitzel’s were hot, crispy, not greasy and were well seasoned. The German Potato Salad was a perfect balance of vinegar, bacon and a little sweetness. The owner was in the dining area and was so nice. For my taste, this is the place to go for authentic German food.

We are fans of German Restaurants. First time at this place. We loved it. It is run by a German family who are present in the kitchen and waitstaff.
The food is quite good and authentic A reasonable wine and beer selection. I had the Jaeger schnitzel, my wife, the Pork Chop and potato pancakes. Both dinners were excellent
We will return next winter on our usual FL vacation.

After living in Germany for 30 years, we are always looking for authentic, delicious German food. We found it here. Jaeger schnitzel with spaetzle was awesome. Black Forest cake tasty and not too sweet, German beers on tap and the friendliest service. Cozy but not cramped and all our meals were good. We’ll make the trip more often to have a taste of our German home.

Service was great and the food was delicious! They made you feel so welcome and at home and offered authentic homemade southern German food. Too full this time so we ‘ll have to go back for Apfelstrudel another day!
