I have never been disappointed when I visited this restaurant. Two of us visited on a busy Friday evening, and we chose to sit inside (it was quite windy on the outside deck), and we were told that there would be a 15 minute wait for a table. By the time we went to the bar and obtained a pitcher of beer, our table was ready. Our server, Ashley, could not have been more attentive and friendly throughout the time we were the restaurant. Although the restaurant was very busy, at no time did we feel rushed, which is refreshing. The two of us shared an order of wings, and order of fries, and we each had a dozen steamed medium-size clams. Although the restaurant is recognized for its fish and seafood, the wings were excellent and of sufficient size. The steamed clams were cooked to the correct doneness, and while chewy as they should be, they were not difficult to eat as they can be if not properly cooked. In the past, I have enjoyed grilled fish over a Caesar salad at this restaurant, and for the price, it is a wonderful and sufficient meal. The restaurant is busy because it is good. One must be willing to enjoy a somewhat loud bar atmosphere, with a roll of paper towels on the table, with condiments in foil containers, to really enjoy this atmosphere.

Hit Southport Raw Bar & Restaurant again as we were staying in an airBnB pretty much across the street. We first hopped across the street to pick up a few things at the Winn-Dixie supermarket and then had a short wait for a table at Southport. It hasn't changed from our prior visit of about 5.5 years ago with the same decor, noise level, etc. We did notice some elderly regulars there which, to me, is always a good sign, as this group of people know value. We didn't order too much, just shared a bowl of New England clam chowder (which they divided into 2 smaller bowls, which was greatly appreciated) and an order of Beer Battered Fish n Chips. We were seated in one of their booths in the center of the restaurant. Food was decent and depending on what you order you don't have to spend an arm and a leg. I would anticipate that if we're in the area again we'll stop by for a meal.

Our dive boat captain Aria recommended South Port to us after I lamented over $35/ pound shrimp from an establishment close by. WOW! Thank you Aria! Having spent my life at HHI SC,I know shrimp. These guys know what they’re doing. And the grilled oysters? OUT OF THIS WORLD! If you’re in the area, I highly recommend!!

From the parking lot it looks a dive bar of sorts however the outside deck at the back of the restaurant is best spot in the place. Our fishing charter captain recommend we bring our catch here and have them prepare it for us. We were renting a house on our vacation and had limited kitchen supplies and seasoning so this was ideal for us. Extremely reasonable pricing, 10 bucks per pound of fish you brought in and it came with a side. We had ours prepared broiled and grilled, they knocked it out of the park! I wish I knew what seasonings they used for the broiled it was lemon garlic and some other spices, my sister and I loved it. My brothers and husband seemed to like the grilled better but they both were very good. The only thing we ordered off their menu were Oyster and three sides that came with our catch we brought with us. The Oysters were fresh and yummy and side accompanied the catch well. We’ll definitely be back to try more offerings from menu on our next trip.

The outside dining area looked much nicer than inside which might have made a difference, but nothing could save my Blackened Mahi Caesar Salad. It was just awful. The fish was overcooked and the lettuce was slimy with an overly acidic dressing. We were a party of 6, so we had to sit inside. The decor was nasty, old and outdated. The baked oysters with jalapeños were too spicy and there was soggy stuffing under the cheese on top. I won’t be going back.

Restaurant is located at Lauderdale Harbour.
Entrance is at the back seems like a tiny take out restaurant or a dirty cheap bar from the parking lot. Windows don’t have view to the parking lot at the back, windows are blocked/tinted.
Inside gave me an impression of a small town diner. Inside the ceiling is low moreover the restaurant floor is angles towards the other end/ deck view outside sitting area. We sat outside.
Fans give adequate breeze. The waiters greet nicely and they are friendly, always on their toes. They all wore masks. Ours was very cheerful and welcoming. Felt comfortable, was told wherever we like to sit. Honesty, humbleness I felt. However waitresses are required to wear only restaurant t-shirt as uniform. The bottom cloths are not uniforms, one can see daisy dukes, yoga pants, jean skirts. Not a strict management.
Tap beer is limited to 4-5 and bottle... the same. Prices and menu is on the photos. Cheap!!!
Menu.... photos explain themselves. The prices compared to other similar places we have been are approx %20 cheaper.
Restaurant close at 10PM, bar close at 11PM.
The service and the food overall is satisfactory on its own restaurant category. I recommend this place to anyone nearby.

I am sorry to report this visit to Southport Raw Bar was disappointing. We had originally dined there 2 years ago and much enjoyed our experience. A few days ago we made a beeline from the airport to this place especially to enjoy the grilled oysters. This time they were a disappointment because of the dozen almost all oysters were smallish but the melted Parmesan cheese overwhelmed the taste of the oysters. My wife’s fried seafood medley (scallops, clams and shrimp) was mostly tasteless except for the shrimp.
The service was good, though, and the view from our outside table was very good.

I had zero intentions of dining at this restaurant, and didn't even know of its existence. The driver from Lyft who was taking me to my requested location (same street) suggested that on a future visit I should consider Southport if I enjoyed seafood. I asked if he thought I should change my plans, and he simply said, "I would". That's all it took. A local who says he's a big fan and had visited multiple times, is all it took. He was correct. Very correct!!
It's nothing fancy, and doesn't need to be. There was a bit of a wait to be seated, and that actually seemed like a good thing, meaning they were popular and worth the time. My server (Lucy) was friendly, informative, accurate, and handling multiple tables with great time management. My food was tasty and extremely fresh, as if served to the table within moment of leaving the fryer. I got a seafood combo basket that offered tastes of multiple items, and each one was a winner. I would probably repeat the same thing on a future visit instead of picking just one item. My beer was cold and refreshing, and this location appeared to be trying their best to stay within all safety protocols of indoor dining. Outdoor seating is available, but I didn't see that area. I would very easily return to this restaurant (and probably will the next time I'm in South FL), and it is also very easy to recommend it to others. I had no disappointments whatsoever, and it made the perfect stop prior to heading to the airport. Thanks Southport & Lucy for the experience. Nicely done!!

I grew up in Ft. Lauderdale and have been going to Southport for many years. I think 37 now, the food great and the atmosphere is genuine. Clams are clean and sand free, Conch Salad is excellent, I always get a quart to take home for friends
I've seen their famous stickers everywhere when traveling outside of the state

Food was average, wait staff average. I paid cash for a bill of 120 with taxes gave the waitress 160 so I could get change For a tip And also told her that.Waited around for another 15 minutes until she walked by and gave me the thumbs up and said you guys are good to go. I told her I was waiting on my change and she reluctantly went back to get me the difference so I could leave her a $25 tip.
Also, the table was sticky and we had no less than seven servers congregating around a table looking over a cell phone for about 10 minutes.

The Southport Raw Bar has both the good and bad characteristics of a by the side of the road fish shack. Love it or hate it
The good: extensive menu, daily specials, a happy hour, some waterside seating and OK food.
The bad a real shack, rustic, fairly high prices and service that is poor at best.
We came after the rush on a weekday and got seated quickly. Our waitress showed gave us menus and disappeared. Five minutes later she came back when we flagged her down and took our orders. The food came out piece meal over the next 20 minutes. Some of it was pretty cold so I suspect it was sitting for awhile for her to pick up.
When it came time to pay when could not find her for almost 15 minutes. We even asked busboys and other waitresses to find her and they could not. Eventually she came and dropped off the bill without explanation.Â

There were 7 of us on a Friday night, pre cruise finger. They were able to accompany us without too long of a wait, outside, which was perfect as they had live music and we were able to watch the boat traffic.
Our group had quite a variety, my favorite was the grilled oysters. I ordered a seafood basket as well, others had mahi mahi, fish and chips, more seafood and oysters. Food was served perfectly done, hot and fresh.
I wish the menu had a bit more options. I felt a bit confined in choices but I didn’t go away hungry.

Got a tip on “Diamond in the Rough” while having a cigar at the Elbo Room. Someone recomended Southport Raw Bar in Fort Lauderdale, outstanding Vibe, staff and seafood. The grilled oysters with garlic and parmesan , smoked fish dip, peel and eat shrimp were excellent and we made a return trip two days later. Say Hello to Heather or Lucy behind the bar. Outdoor seating on a canal, live music , whats not to enjoy.

While not the classier of places from the outside , indeed inside it’s not much better but you are here to eat super fresh seafood and enjoy the views over the intercoastal waterways.
Shared a small caesar salad which was pretty big and some wonderful conch fritters, such a Floridian dish and absolutely delicious, crispy yet moist pieces of conch.
Entree of mahi mahi blackened and one with garlic butter were also amazing , perfectly cooked white fish served with fries or rice, only compliant would be that the entrees came while we were still eating the appetizers so perhaps should have waiting to finish before we ordered the entrees.
Service was very good, everything came quick, perhaps nearly too quickly. Car parking was not an issue when I visited but I guess you could in WinnDixie lot opposite and do some shopping before or after you dined

I was told this restaurant has been here almost 50 years. We went for lunch on a
Saturday around 1 and it was packed out, inside and out. Had a forty-minute wait. Also, parking was an issue with very limited onsite and street parking. You can use the building next door on the weekends.
After the wait at the bar. We got the grilled oysters, the fried shrimp basket and a large cup of conch chowder. The food came very quickly. The conch chowder has a tomato base, a first for me. It had a lot of conch and fresh vegetables. Very good. The shrimp was fresh and hot in terms of temperature. We got about 12 shrimp in the basket. They were good as well. The oysters had some seasoning and I think parsley. Very good.
Overall, this was a good meal with friendly and efficient staff. Overall, the meal with 3 beers was $50, cheap for Ft. Lauderdale. A great experience.
