Almost impossible to find, located next to the Wharf. Right on the New River but you must park in the parking garage and walk down a narrow alley. Noted chef José Mendín from Miami created this seafood centric restaurant that is very beautiful with a huge patio overlooking the river.Unfortunately the music is so loud that the four of us couldn't have a conversation. The menu is very interesting with some unusual seafood items. We had just appetizers, I had the Seafood Ceviche with shrimp, fish , aji amarillo, lime, cancha, onions, and cilantro, very nice. Also the Octopuswith, piquillo pepper, pil-pil, warm marbled potatoes, and hazelnuts, also very good. My wife had the Bay Scallops Escargot ,shiso-garlic butter, lime zest, and sea salt in an escargot dish, not really like escargot. We asked for bread for dipping and they brought a piece of Texas toast not telling us there was a $2 charge for it. She also had the Crab Mac N' Cheese. Both dishes were just fair. Our server Roxie was very personable and friendly. Sorry we won't return. Crab Mac N' Cheese Bay Scallops Escargot ,shiso-garlic butter, lime zest, sea salt Crab Mac N' Cheese

OK, This restaurant is known for it's "James Beard" status. We had high hopes it would be amazing. We decided to go early and take advantage of the happy hour menu which included $1 oyster which were pretty good but the bartenders were so busy it took forever to get anything. Then the guy sitting next to us asked us about the food because he was basicly homeless (and a Vet) and didn't have enough money to pay for them. Why was he hanging out in an expensive restaurant? I don't know but we felt sorry for him and gave him $20. And that was the highlight of the evening. We went to sit at our table and it was very noisy and felt rushed. The waiter came over and took our drink order but didn't ask if we wanted anything else and was pretty rude. When the drinks came he appeared again and asked to take our order. When asked about certain dishes he didn't seem to know much. We place the order for an entree and appetizer and within 5 minutes all the food was delivered. It had to be they were pre -prepared because a dish like a baked grouper and a dish like lobster could have easily taken 30 minutes to prepare. My lobster. although tasting good was lukewarm and my husbands grouper looked awful. We won't go here again

Rivertail is a young, exciting place to be for happy hour. They do not limit seating to the bar but let people sit at the tables in the area near the river which is a pleasing view especially when the draw bridge in in operation. The crowd is was well dressed with lots of small groups of singles. There are two bars for the true single person to sit and they were full. There is a food and drink happy hour menu with many choices. Oysters for $1 each, shrimp $2, stone crabs $3 and wine $5 were some of the things we tried. Mini lobster rolls for $5 from the main menu are also worth a try. Service is very good, especially for a happy hour.

We had dinner on 9/22/20. Very disappointed, even thou food was overall okay ( we do not recommend octopus it was too rubbery) Service was absolutely unacceptable: 1. Happy Hours promotion is deceiving, We ordered House merlot and when we asked for the second round of drinks we were told that merlot was not part happy hours, only Cabernet was, and on tent board it was indicated Wine, no specifics. I believe it was server responsibility to indicate this to us. 2 We ordered 2 Cesar salads only one was served, we had to remind server and wait so we could it together. 3 The same happened with mash potatoes. 4 We ordered 1/2 a dozen oysters, But we’re served one dozen, waiter took plate back, came back with the same plate and assured us that we are only will be charged for 1/2 dozen, to our surprise we were charged additional $18(37.0 altogether) we were told by the server that oysters during happy hours were $1 each, It was embarrassing. We have politely tried to reason with the waiter about our to no avail. Finally we decided not dispute our bill in front of our business partner, paid out bill and got out. As you can see we are not after the monies, we want others to be aware.

My family and I had reservations made week in advance. We showed up at the proper time and were told by hostess they were exceptionally busy and we needed to wait about 10-15 minutes for our table. That was fine, it was a nice night. We were seated and sat there for 20 minutes and not one waiter, food runner or manager approached us. Not even to pour water in our glasses. We ended up leaving at that point when 40 mins after our reservation time, we didn’t even have a glass of water. My husband works in the food industry and we both found the experience to be completely unacceptable. I will never go back.

I went to Rivertail with a party of 8 for a Valentine's Day Brunch and we had an off the charts experience. I was a little concerned on the reviews but everything that was a point of contention they seemed to have right. We were seated promptly, drinks were in our hands within 10 minutes. Service was on point. I thought the food was excellent. Yellowtail Taquitos and fresh oysters an absolute smash. Also the fried shrimp and chicken was seasoned great and tasty, served with house famous cornbread. Burgers we 4/5 according to those who ordered and same for lobster rolls. Prices were reasonable with most brunch drinks coming in a $7. Was very happy with the overall experience and would go back again. Also great views with ourdoor seating.

Snotty, condescending manager. Their reservation system was down and I understand those things happen, however I was not prepared for their entire restaurant to be impacted. As the night went on, I waited patiently as my appetizer came out an hour after I was sat. I had not complained, but the waiter seemed upset and said he would have his manager come over. For what? For her to be a waitress instead? Or maybe he knew she should offer an apology. However, she sat it down and didn't offer an apology, as she did not about the reservations being delayed, as would any manager worth her salt. I mentioned it had been an hour and she caught an attitude and condescendingly said their internet is down "as I told you" and they are doing things the "old fashioned way." All I knew was their reservation system was temporarily down, not their entire system, and she gave no indication they were that bad off that night. I was planning on ordering a lot of food to sample what appeared to be top notch and unique. However, they wasted my night and I wasn't about to wait hours for food which others have said they did even without receiving what they ordered. At that point, I didn't appreciate her snotty, condescending attitude so I just left. I would have given them a break and considered returning or accepting their incompetent inflexibility and lack of adaptability to challenges, but her lack of professionalism was unacceptable and off-putting. If I owned that restaurant, I would be embarrassed about how she represents my brand and wastes my customer's time, not to mention dismayed about her lack of effective responses to his losses in revenue. I've seen more customer service acumen from cashiers at fast food restaurants. Restaurant 101: attitude. Attitude can make up for a multitude of the unexpected customer-service industry challenges. However, she seems to rest on excuses, and it seems her poor, entitled, ignorant attitude is not a rare occurrence. Despite her responses for bad reviewers to privately message her, and some saying she never responds or if she does some have said she responds arrogantly, she seems too aloof or incompetent to change her ways. She does not seem cutout for customer service. That's sad for a restaurant with a great location on the water and an excellent looking menu and chef.

There is nothing to recommend about this restaurant other than its location on Riverwalk. I had the Cobia which was "hard" and with little flavor; overcooked. My companion had the mahi, her comment was that it was a small piece but was ok. I never received the glass of wine ordered when the entree was served and was later told it would be taken off the check, rather thoughtful that. Service was mediocre at best. Do not get the lemon caper sauce, not even sure what was in it. It was not the worse meal we have had but felt it was one of the most unsatisfying meals in a very long time.

We went here for Mother’s Day and had a good experience overall. It took the waiter a while to appear and then we asked who our waiter was and they got him for us. After that every thing was great. We stuck to appetizers and enjoyed everything. The conch fritters were amazing! Definitely our favorite appetizer of all. The corn bread wasn’t a traditional one but very good seeing as how I don’t usually even eat corn bread. Also, the accompanying butter was very good. We also ordered the chowder which had a huge puff pastry on top. The restaurant has a super cute and chill vibe and atmosphere. Good for birthday dinners or just a night out dinner. I definitely want to return for the dinner menu!

Well I usually go to a place at least twice to make sure it is consistent before I review it. The first time was wonderful and the chowder was delicious with the puff pastry on top and chocked full of seafood. Last night we went I had the soup again and it had one piece of seafood in it. Very disappointing. However the lobster rolls are very good and the brussels sprouts are good except this time they doused them with too much miso sauce. On a good note our server Eli was wonderful and the atmosphere is very nice however I think the music is too clubby for the atmosphere. The first time they played nice jazz and this time it was pretty much headbanging rap and hip-hop. Definitely had a better experience the first time. We are local so it would be nice to get back the experience we had first time. We will try again but after that I don’t think we will be back if it is not improved

I had dinner with 7 of my friends last weekend and had an awesome experience. When we walked in, Dahana at the host stand was so warm and welcoming and walked us to our table outside. The GM (I forget her name but she was very accommodating) welcomed us, and after learning we hadn’t been helped yet (it wasn’t even a long time since we had been seated) insisted that the first round of drinks were on the house. I explained to our server that I had celiac disease, and the assistant GM, Matt, made sure to come out and speak with me to insure me my food was gluten free. Overall the food was amazing, the service was top notch, and the atmosphere was exciting. 100% will be going back.

The Restaurant was all but empty on a Sunday evening. We should have recognized that as a sign. Service was indifferent at best. Finally went and retrieved our own water refills not once, bot twice. Appetizer came out after the entree, and only after a reminder that was met with a blank expression. Caesar salad might have been good on Friday evening, but was less than fresh this evening. Watch out for the bill as well, 20% gratuity is added, even on our party of three, without any notice. When paying an additional tip was pre-selected. Had I not noticed, I would have added additional tip. This practice seems dishonest. There are too many other choices in Fort Lauderdale. This place is not deserving of your time, money or palate.

I read an article about the James Beard nominated chef Jose Mendín so I went to Riverdale today with my husband to give it a try. We both had the little gem Caesar salad I had the whole Branzino a La Grenobloise and my husband had the whole fried snapper. The location is nice on the river. It’s more casual than I was led to believe by the website and pictures which is perfectly fine. The salads were very good and my fish was alright but nothing extraordinary as I was hoping for. My husband enjoyed his fish as well but again nothing extraordinary but good. A little pricey for the quality of food in my opinion. We sat by the bar on the outside and we had a lovely bartender who made very good drinks. My husband had three margaritas that added up to $52. Between the two of us and our bill was $175 not including tip.

Went for dinner Sunday afternoon. Valet parking is 2 blks away. This restaurant is not convenient. To make matters worse they ran out of Chardonnay wine Saturday night. They could have gone to Publix or Total Wines to at least have a few bottles for customers on Sunday. Next, water was warm, no ice and trout was thrown on the plate, no interesting presentation. The trout had very little meat and it was not great. My husband had shrimp and grits. Grits tasted like mashed potatoes and he ordered extra corn muffins that were comparable to a hockey puck. Think twice about going here. Expensive for sub par food.

Directly on Fort Lauderdale’s Riverwalk, tucked under a parking garage next to the Andrews Avenue bascule bridge, Rivertail offers a variety of comfy fresh subtropical atmospheres: indoor dining, bar, outdoor lounge and tables. The menu features a curated selection of east and west coast oysters, fresh ceviche, and a variety of seafood (as well as meat and meatless options). I had the ceviche and Shakshuka with a glass of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, followed by a simple espresso coffee. The staff, from reception to table service, was friendly, professional and attentive. The food was outstanding: fresh, bursting with flavors - and punctuated with an occasional sting of hot pepper. Scrumptious- can’t wait to come back again!
