Restaurant's Favorite

18 months ago, we took my sister and husband to Amelia Island with reservations at David's restaurant. I gave a 5 star rating back then. It hasn't changed, still a 5 star (really a 6 star if possible). My wife in the food industry globally,...thus has eaten at many places around the world. I too have had some of the most unbelievable dining experiences. By. far this is one of, if not the best restaurants in the world. Our waiter, Glen, has been working there for 7 years and very knowledgeable and understands the importance of correct timing when serving courses. It was Valentines Day and fully booked, yet you can easily have a conversation. The acoustics are great, not a noisy restaurant. They make a "Sea Bass Cake" similar to a Crab Cake, but a must try. A selection of salads for the second course, you can get a 1/2 portion because it's going to be a lot of food. My wife had spinach salad, her favorite, and I had the wedge with blue cheese. For the main course, my wife had Dover Sole. Thumbs up. I had the fish special which was halibut. This was totally amazing, the chef took ingredient that you wouldn't normally put with halibut. But it worked fabulously well. This dish beat anything I've ever had. Gave my wife a bite and she agreed, totally awesome. Hot bread, tomatoes with mozzarella cheese and balsamic vinegar for a beginning treat from the chef. Then there is the special touch of Sorbet palate cleanser before the main meal. Just so well done. Hats off to the chef and staff for the best ever experience. $$$$$More

My wife and I both ordered the ribeye...and it was excellent - one of the best we've ever had. The restaurant had a nice ambience and tables were appropriately spaced. Service was excellent as well.

Food is very good - the chef does an incredible job at picking very high quality ingredients. I ordered a filet with crab - the filet was top notch. My fiancé ate octopus, very good. As appetizer we ordered escargots they where ok, but we...where hoping for the green sauce. Service was excellent. One comment though, I did mention that it was a special occasion since I just had gotten engaged but they didn’t really do anything about it, no champagne or complimentary sweets. Overall though I would say that it’s a good restaurant. Enjoy!More

My wife and I had a great meal at David's. She had a filet which she repeatedly stated was the best she had ever tasted. I started with the crab bisque which was creamy and full of crab, followed by seafood scampi, which was delicious....Our server was very attentive without being overbearing. She was great as well as the support staff. They used a bit of a team approach and we didn't wait or want for anything. It was a meal we will not soon forget!More

We celebrated our anniversary at this beautiful restaurant and were overwhelmed by not only the delicious meals, but also their close attention to detail. Their crab bisque was incredible as was the Dover sole. The restaurant was clean and spacing was more than adequate. Jonathan,...our server, made us feel so very special. We will definitely be back and I would recommend this restaurant to everyone!More

We were vacationing a Amelia Island and decided to go to David's for our anniversary. We were seated quickly but in a back room with poor decor and a table with a tablecloth only on 1/2 of the 4 person table since there were only...2 of us. We made a reservation and told them it was our anniversary so we thought we should have been given a nice table. We ordered the baked brie with fruit and the crab bisque for an appetizer. The baked brie was cold and hard when it was brought to the table with only a few slices of apple and 1 or 2 berries. It was definitely not enjoyable. The crab bisque and was supposed to have lumped crab meat in it. The bisque was cold watery and no lumped crab meat at all. It was terrible. I had the truffles scallops. 4 scallops that were not properly cooked come out with gummy mashed potatoes. My wife had the halibut special for the night and was not impressed. We will never go back. For $200 it was a terrible dinner.More
