Charles restaurant review-
Today Charles went exploring and found The Sandbar Tiki and Grille restaurant on Manasota Key
He liked that they have special dog bowls, just for him. The restaurant is right across from the beach and he loved that he can lay in the cool sand to stretch out.
The Sandbar has live music in their tiki hut many afternoons and evenings. Today the band was The Lazy Daisy’s with a mix of folky pop music. The restaurant has a very Jimmy Buffet vibe to it with many of the picnic tables placed in the power white sand. For chilly evenings they have fire pits to huddle around
We started with the Spinach Artichoke dip. It came out piping hot with fresh baked bread and crispy chips on the side
For an entree all had the shrimp burger. I’ve never found this type of burger at any other restaurant and it happens to my favorite dish at The Sandbar. The burger has succulent gulf shrimp fashioned in a circle to form a blackened shrimp burger. The burger comes with lettuce, tomato, dill pickle, onions and a side of remoulade sauce. The sweet potato fries were dusted with a sweet cinnamon sugar
This beachside restaurant also has water access and views of the expansive canal.
Charles gives this restaurant four paws 🐾🐾. He loves being right across the beach with the warm breezes blowing in as you dine. He also likes that nearly each table has a fan with a soft water mist to keep you cool in the dog days of summer.

As annual winter visitors to the area, we have been to this place when it was called Flounders and more recently as the SandBar Tiki. It is a loud, raucous, fun place right across from the big beach at the south end of Manasota Key. There's lots of indoor and outdoor seating, but the place is usually packed. There's some onsite parking if you trust your luck, but most folks walk over from the beach or from their condo rentals nearby. There's usually a loud band playing, so don't expect to have an in-depth conversation here, except during breaks. Their specialty drinks are strong, their shot measures are full, you can find some good craft beer options, and the food is exactly what you should expect at a beach bar -- pretty good, really filling comfort food with an occasional special. The staff work hard, but you try carrying a platter of food or a tray of drinks across the sand while dodging dancers and people racing to get to that just open table. Tip them well. They deserve it here, even if your food or drinks don't magically appear 17 seconds after ordering. In short, you go to this place because it is REALLY close to the beach, it totally looks and sounds like THE place to be, and you know how to leave your high expectations in the car. Relax and enjoy the chaos, or simply pick another spot the fits your style a bit better.

We hadn't been there since the new owners bought it and changed the name from Flounders to the SandBar. They changed more than just the name. Before it was average at best with a so-so menu and so-so service. They completely revamped the menu, bring in smoked dishes and expanding the selection greatly and the service is extremely attentive without being pushy. The live music was OK, nice, nothing to write home about, but you don't expect the Eagles at a beach bar on a Sunday afternoon. All in all, my wife enjoyed ourselves immensely. Very good food, wonderful atmosphere with the boats coming and going, good drinks and excellent servie. We'll definitely be back, and we'll bring friends with us..

Upon arriving the waitress convinced my friends to order a (carafe) bottle of Pinot Grigio that was 1.5 glasses. "Who only drinks one glass of wine"? My friends ordered for me, as I was sitting down at the table. The bottle of wine was probably 12 oz and it was $16. When the bottle was brought to the table, it was an Italian name (I had never heard), and it was terrible. I drank one glass, and one of my friends tasted it and agreed the smell was off, and it was terrible.
I ordered Nachos, which were a cold plate of Nacho Chips, topped with runny queso. There must have been a half jar of sliced banana peppers on top, a few pieces of shredded pork sprinkled about, with 3 slices of black olives. No onions, or tomatoes, as the description in the menu described.
The service was slow, and the waitres Amy, was unfriendly.
My tip was very generous considering the poor food and service.

The atmosphere was nice, the service was terrible. Three people came in after us, got their drinks and appetizers before we even received our first drink. Also order a cup of soup and she forgot to bring it. The waitress was rarely wearing her so called mask. If she was working for me I would have fired her! On a good note the food was great. Shrimp basket and haddock tacos were fantastic. Service is why I rated 4 stars.

After spending the day at Englewood Beach we decided to head across the street to the Sand Bar for dinner. After being seated by the hostess with a menu and plastic utensils she left. Over 40 minutes before someone stopped by to take our order. How is that possible?? I told the waitress we’ve been here for 40 minutes, not sure we want to order any more. She copped and attitude and just walked away. No I’m sorry or apology or anything she just left. NEVER come back here again.

Last time I reviewed it was under different ownership. They no longer have two of my favorite things (Gumbo and Carrot Cake). I really like their Fish Taco's, I have mine with fried grouper and they are delicious. First visit I was alone and was there for lunch. Everything was great, food, service, atmosphere. Second visit was for dinner with friends there were four of us. It was a little later around 7:30-8:00 on a Tuesday night. The food was good, service a little spotty considering there were only two tables. One guest had the Grouper Dinner with blackened seasoning that she said was very salty and did not finish. Two had fried Grouper Fish Taco's which were good, had to ask for Salsa that is served with them as it was not on one plate. Another minor point is the inconsistency of how the rice and beans are served. It is always a surprise. Sometimes there are a lot of black beans and red onions, sometimes not so much, sometimes in between. We had a couple of drinks with the meal and they were prepared well. Fourth diner had a salad that he said was good. They have a large menu and are usually very busy especially on a warm night after sunset.

Stopped here for lunch after spending a couple of hours on the beach. It's a cute location on the water with lots of outdoor seating. My husband had the chicken salad sandwich with sweet potato waffle fries ( sprinkled lightly with cinnamon- absolutely amazing- this from someone who didn't used to like sweet potatoes). My ahi tuna salad was colorful and fresh. The ingredients worked perfectly together. Would love to go back and sample more from the menu.

They gave us a table right in front of the stage, 6 feet from a large speaker, while the band was performing. I requested one of the approximately ten empty tables that were available, so my guests and I did not lose our hearing. The hostess seemed very annoyed. It took another 15 minutes to have someone to come over to the table and acknowledge us. When the waitress came to the table, she wanted to take our food order before we ordered any adult beverages. Food was mediocre at best. When I got my credit card bill the follow month, I saw that they charged my credit card two times. I contacted the Manager Lexi and she stated she had no record of my credit card being charged twice. I offered to send her a screen shot of my credit card bill, and she declined. After 4 months I finally got this matter resolved with the bank with no help from the Tiki Bar. The location is 5 Stars, Service is 2 Stars, Food is 2 Stars, Assistance in resolving a Credit Card Dispute is 0 Stars. If you eat, or drink here make sure you check your Credit Card and save your receipts.

This was on my list of places to visit while in town for a few days. It was a great place with fun atmosphere, good food, and wonderful entertainment. Bit of a wait to get in; but plenty of games to play, good drinks, and dancing while you wait for the table. Loved the 60s band. Glad we came.
However the absolute WORST waitress I'e ever experienced waited on us. She was rude and never checked in on us. We had to go looking for her. It took her 20 minutes to bring the first round of drinks. When she finally came to take our order (35 minutes after we sat down) she didn't look at us at all and huffed away when we didn't order more drinks. (We didn't order more drinks because we didn't want to have to wait for her to bring them again.) Took over an hour after sitting to get our food and when we got it it was cold. Didn't ruin the night, but my in-laws who live down the street said they wouldn't go back because of the service.

If you go out to eat anywhere on the island, make it this place! The food was incredible and the prices affordable. The service top notch. When we were there it was packed yet our food came so quick and our waitress made sure our drinks were never empty. The live music was also great. Our server, Montana’s, friendliness plus the inviting atmosphere made for an extremely enjoyable date night while on vacation.

Sat outside under an umbrella picnic table. Ordered the Buffalo chicken flatbread and it was greasy, soggy & the pieces of chicken on it were really dry. I didn’t enjoy at all. I actually started picking all the chicken off of it and it was still barely edible. It says in the menu If you try to share an entree between 2 people they charge you an extra $10! Ridiculous. But The worst thing about this place is we ordered our sons cheeseburger with pickles and when we got our bill we noticed they charged us $2 for the pickles!! Lolol wow. I could’ve bought a whole jar of pickles for 2 bucks!! I’ll never come back here again.

Fun place to grab a drink and a bite. We had a very disappointing mojito and a good Maui Waui Crush. Nothing was muddled in the mojito, it was rum and water and a few lime wedges and whole mint. We were surprised when the coconut shrimp app came out with 5 shrimp for $13. Can you at least spare a half dozen? Well, they were absolutely delicious, despite the price. We also had the smoked brisket salad and the fried green tomato capreze plate. Everything was great, including the service….minus that mojito. We dropped a solid $80 here, tip included for 2 drinks, 2 apps and a salad.

Fun place to hang out, decent drinks, games and entertainment. We ordered the pulled pork on Texas toast (which came with fries) and an ente Cesar's salad. Their pulled pork is always excellent - the challenge is how cheap they are with the portion of pork. There was barely enough pork to make 1/2 of a sandwich & the dozen of Tiki (seasoned) fries was ridiculous. I'm hoping that somewhere along the delivery line half were"lost". I ordered an entre Cesar's and a lady at the next table ordered a side Cesar's. The only differences were the plates that they were served on & the price, no difference in the portion size. Lots of places to eat at the beach. I guess we'll just return when we're only interested in having a drink.

While staying in the Englewood area we stopped into SandBar Tiki & Grille for a quick bite to eat and we were glad we did. There is several seating options outside including outdoor couches, Tiki Bar as well as table and chairs. The Live Music was awesome. The atmosphere is laid back with a party feel. I ordered the Mango Breeze Salad with Ahi Tuna and it was delicious with the Tuna seared perfectly. Lots of locals sitting at the Tiki Bar. If you are looking for a relaxed or party atmosphere this is the place. Parking can be difficult. Lot is small but they have an overflow lot a little farther up that you can park and call the local free ride to drive you there.
