Four of us had dinner at Whisky Joe’s and the option of all was that the drinks are overpriced and the food terrible! My Husband and I had the bbq sandwiches, the pork was so dried out it was hard to swallow but the worst...thing was that I actually had pieces of fried fish mixed in with my fried onions on top the pork! The fries were limp and tasteless. Our friend had the jambalaya, he took one bite and said it was terrible and this from a man who spends a great deal of time in the New Orleans area! He left most of his meal. My Husband and my bill was over $70, this for 2 wines, 2 beers, chips and 2 bbq sandwiches.More

After trying to find the hostess, she showed us to our table. We waited and waited to someone to serve us, but were totally ignored. So we left. We took our business to Woody’s river roo. Had great service, great food and entertainment. Also it’s...less pricey. I wouldn’t waste my time or money on Whiskey Joes.More

Didn’t care for this place. My husband absolutely loved it. The view is nice, food was mediocre at best they gave me one bite of coke slaw I had to point it out to the waitress. The drinks were awful. Too many loud children for...my taste. Like I said my husband loved it so different strokes.More

Nice restaurant in the old Leverocks (if you have been around a while, you remember them). Nice indoor space with lots of outdoor seating as well. Full bar with lots of drink options and draft beer choices. Service is okay. We shared the queso as...an appetizer. Good, pretty standard. My wife had the taco salad which was huge. I had a burger and fries which were good. Overall a fun casual place for lunch.More

The restaurant was filthy and smelled stale. My $20 vegan mushroom entree was bland and served with cold tasteless rice and few lightly grilled peppers. I paid $4 more for black beans. No thanks.

Visited Whiskey Joe’s in Ellenton today with my family. Great location and great views of the Manatee river. First impression It appears that the hostess is suppose to wipe down the tables with a sanitizing towelette. She did not do good job and the table...was not clean. We meet Cailey, our waitress for the evening, and informed her of the situation. She immediately takes cares of our table (Thank you Cailey!!!) The Drinks The first round of drinks we’re right on the money. I had expected it, based on their price. The second round of drinks were lacking. I assumed it was due to a change in bar tenders or something. It took three tries to replicate the first Moscow Mule served. The Food My son and I each had the Island carnitas. My wife order the Mahi nuggets as her entree and my daughter ordered the Mahi tacos. The carnitas and the Mahi bites were on point. The Mahi Tacos was inedible. The fish was chewy and tasted like it came out of fish stick frozen box. We informed our waitress, Cailey, and she took the dish back. My daughter ordered the Mahi bytes. Her Mahi bytes took for ever to arrive. So long that Cailey offered to take it off the bill. (To Whiskey Joe’s Management: Thank you for having Cailey on your staff. She is a gem!) The Service Cailey was really on point tonight. Through it all she was professional, courteous, and accommodating. She apologized for the Kitchen’s and bar’s shortcomings and tried to save the day. The outcome We waited a long time to try Whiskey Joe’s and was a little disappointed with our first experience. We would likely wait a little longer to return. It seems the Kitchen and restaurant bar need to work on their consistencies.More

WORST. DINNER. EVER!! Such a huge disappointment. The attitude of the staff from reservation through completion of the meal was simply “I don’t care”. The ribs were over cooked and dry, the fries were a pile of mush; The “Jumbo shrimp” entree consisted of 8...tiny shrimp surrounded by a huge amount of sweet potato fries. It was a birthday celebration and I was embarrassed,More

This restaurant was across the street from our hotel, and soo glad we found it! The restaurant is pet friendly. beachy vibe with seating outside in the sand, porch seating and indoor seating! There is a huge tiki bar outside in the sand with seating,...and a second bar inside with seating! Waterfront with a dock if you come up on your boat on the manatee river. The shrimp tacos were amazing and the sweet plantains were fresh and delicious! The waffle sweet potato fries were also great! Family friendly and a great atmosphere for all! Highly recommendMore

While the view is spectacular, they have the highest priced craft beer in the area and they serve 12 oz pours rather than 16. Also $5 valet parking in an area where no other restaurant has valet parking. I will avoid this place as much...as possibleMore
