Food smelled soooo good! Tasted even better! Had the Mexican combo with crispy shell taco, tostada and enchilada. Refried beans and fresh steamed veggies for the 2 sides. Del ray combo was equally as good with steak fries & veggies. Note, all fresh ingredients, even...the lettuce on the taco had color and not from a bag! Score!!! Fast pick up and lots of food for the money. Excellent for sure.More

Reviewed Carmelita's back on 2016, on our first visit here. After four years of living in this area, we still believe Carmelita's is the best in this area. No, it's not "fancy" and there's nothing special about the outside of the building BUT, the food...and service are still better-than-average. We love Mexican, and we enjoy many of the small, quaint, "mom-and-pop"-type establishments all around the general Clearwater area and we continue to compare each one to Carmelita's. Is it the best? We don't know because we haven't tried them all (YET!); however, it's still our favorite. If you're looking for a decent Mexican spot to try, Carmelita's will be a great choice.More

We were very impressed with the measures Carmelita's in Dunedin is taking to promote customer and staff safety. Their signboard shows that staff is wearing masks, and they are all wearing disposable gloves as well. A sign on the front door lets you know they...are not accepting cash at this time (can you think of all the hands that have touched that dollar bill?) They now have a menu mounted on the wall at each booth so you aren't touching menus; they show which seating is available and sanitized and they keep an empty booth between active booths. I appreciated all their safety measures. Oh and by the way, the food was great as always.More

The only place in town that makes crispy tacos, which is a fried flour tortilla. They are delicious! They also have amazing beans with bits of bacon in them. Make sure you order the right ones. I like that they have fresh salsas both hot...and mild, red and green. I like to order a side of white queso to dip chips.More

As wonderful as the salsa was the chips were somewhat clunky and cold. Seemed to have been just dumping a bag into a bowl for serving. The Mexican Pizza on the appetizer menu is always a hit. The portion is very generous and can be...shared with 2 people easily with enough to still have a piece for lunch. This pizza brings out of town families to Carmelita’s for good fun. Service was fair but water drinkers did not receive a refill. No matter-go for the salsaMore

Carmelita's is our go to Mexican food place in the area. Not Texas but good. Food is always good and tasty. They appear to have had a lot of staff turnover lately. Regulars are great, new staff needs some polishing to get it right. Especially...the new guys need to write down orders so they get it right.More

We decided to try Carmelita’s while 2 of our grandchildren were in town and it was a HUGE disappointment. First off are the chips! You can usually tell right away how a Mexican Restaurant is by the chips and salsa. The chips were cold and...stale, the sauce however had a really good flavor even though it had no heat what so ever. Too bad there wasn’t anything to dip in it. Although no one in my party ate much of their food I will only talk about mine. I ordered the “just like grandma made” tamales. They appeared to have been reheated more than once. The end that was sticking out of the husk was like rubber and the rest wasn’t a whole lot better. This was my first and last trip here. We have so many great places to eat in Dunedin so I don’t know why anyone would ever come here a second time. This has nothing to do with my personal experience but the people at the next table gave the waiter a coupon when they paid. He came back and said he forgot to apply it and there wasn’t anything he could do about it. That is not good business.More

I am not gluten intolerant so I don't look for that. Best thing is to call the restaurant.
