We have been here several times and we are never disappointed. Our favorite is Monday night . We sit at the ( tiny) bar for happy hour and the fried chicken special . It comes with salad mashed potato’s and the portion is huge ! We both have two cocktails each and the two entrees and have enough to eat for lunch the next day - the the bill comes to about $40.00. It’s one of the deals on Main Street for sure .

Exceptionally good food, service and location

My new favorite restaurant in Clearwater/Dunedin vicinity. I dined here three times in a nine-day vacation. We stayed in Clearwater, adjacent to Dunedin. Once I learned where the nearby large FREE municipal parking lots were, I had no difficulty parking. My favorite tables for 2 were against the window, overlooking the beautiful garden and the Pinellas Trail. Unsweetened iced tea was perfect every time; I highly recommend. The cafe chopped salad is so good, I had it three times. Once with fresh perfectly prepared blackened salmon. Twice with seared ahi tuna. The tuna was fresh and delicious, and I know tuna because I'm a sushi fan. But the salmon was moister, which it should be, so I recommend the salmon with the chopped salad, if you like salmon. Salad includes feta, candied pecans, craisins, cucumber, Romaine, red onion. I don't know how anyone finishes this salad. It is huge. Leave room for dessert! I recommend their perfect blueberry pie. The servers recommended the coconut cream pie, but I stuck with the blueberry pie, so I don't know what I missed. All three servers were fantastic and I will miss all of them til I return: Ann, Alexis, Patrick. Cheerful, helpful, friendly, and got the orders right each time.

Greasy fast food

My husband and I took a day trip to Dunedin and were starving so, since the restaurant was packed, thought we'd give it a try. We were seated quickly and our waited was fast and friendly, but our food was a terrible disappointment. I made the mistake of ordering fried grouper sandwich.It was obviously frozen battered mystery fish that had no flavor at all. I ended up taking off all the greasy batter and still feel like I've had a shot glass of fryer oil. My husband had blackened grouper and felt the same about his. The cole slaw had an odd, tinny taste. Very, very disappointing.

Great food but poor service this time

This is my fourth time eating at this cafe as we attend a blue jay spring training game. All the other visits were excellent. My first comment is on the food , the food is great and the portions are very good. On this past visit on feb 27 we arrived just before 4 pm and received the lunch menu. I asked waitress who was very young about the dinner menu. She said it doesn’t start until 4.20 pm which I thought was odd. I asked for the dinner menu and she said that we could order off the dinner menu except for a couple of things. So we did. Then as I was going to the men’s room she said she errorred and it was 4pm. (Never even came to table to tell us) As we received our food other guests were arriving and were shown other specials on a tablet. We were never given that option which was upsetting. Our water glasses were never filled again and she tried to take our plates away of bread that weren’t even finished yet. TERRIBLE.

What a gem

We re-located from Arizona to Dunedin, Florida and just love it. Our friend, Ron, has helped us get to know the places to shop and eat. Tonight he took us to Cafe Alfresco on Main Street. We wanted to eat outside so it took a few minutes to get our table set up. We window shopped numerous quaint shops around Main Street. We went back to Cafe Alfresco and were shown to our waiting table. Our server, Jessica, was delightful in her banter with us and we enjoyed listening to her explaining the various dishes available for "Comfort Food Thursday". Both Ron and my wife ordered the small portion of the Eggplant Parmesan. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan with red wine and we all had a side salad. Jessica kept coming by to see how we were doing and refilled our water, tea, bread and wine. What a great server. Our dishes arrived and I asked: "Is this serving for one!" (Immediately I thought, perhaps the smaller portion would have been enough, but, tomorrow's lunch sounded like a better deal .) I did share some of my dinner with my wife reluctantly returned the favor. It was a delightful experience and we will surely come back again and will bring family and friends. The pasta was al-dente by request, the gravy was really really good, just a hint of the acid came through, the cheeses...OMG...and the chicken was awesome. I'll be enjoying lunch tomorrow! This Cafe Alfresco is a must return. Enjoy! Perhaps next time I'll have room for desert...

Great Place for Lunch in Dunedin

Met another couple for lunch during vacation in Dunedin. Cafe Alfresco was the perfect spot. It's right in the center of town, near public parking, has great food/sandwiches, and the servers are very friendly and helpful. The prices are very good and you get a lot to eat. Quality, quantity, and service. A great trifecta.

Two excellent outings! Great place!

Best restaurant for us on two occasions during our three night stay in Dunedin. It was in a picture-perfect location, downtown, outdoors, adjacent to the bike path, with pleasant décor, no obnoxious music, good service, and great food. They didn’t take reservations, so we decided to get there early (for dinner) to avoid the rush, and then for lunch midweek when there wasn’t any either. Between my wife and me, our tables benefited from chicken curry, chicken parmesan, chicken & smoked sausage gumbo, Greek salad, and sesame crusted salmon. All was very good, and most dishes cost in the mid to high teens. For the top or near top-rated restaurant in town, this felt reasonable to me. From my particular vantage point, the chicken curry was mighty tasty, chicken parmesan massive and heart-warming, and smoked sausage gumbo incredibly filling. That alone could have served as an entire meal. Service here was prompt and extremely pleasant. I really liked our waiters (first was a young mellow dude who had just started; the second was a gal from Ohio with a family member at University of Ashland). Another highlight was my blueberry mojito – best drink I’ve had in ages. Cherry Wonderdog bestows a solid five stars and four paws up to Café Alfresco. Enjoy!

Get the Fettuccini Alfredo w/Chicken

Fettuccini Alfredo with grilled chicken was the best I’ve ever had. The chicken was seasoned, cooked, and sliced perfectly. The noodles were al dente and the sauce was delicious. The portion size was huge! I was full after 1/3 of the meal. Every interaction with a staff member was positive and friendly. Great location and atmosphere for such a small place. Loved it!

Delicious dinners!

We met some friends here for dinner on a Tuesday evening. Had a wait of about 15 minutes. Our server, Kaveh, was very friendly and showed us the specials - he had photos of all of the entrees on his tablet - very helpful! My husband ordered the Chicken Marsala and said he had had better. I ordered the blackened salmon salad and it was delicious - well seasoned and cooked salmon! HUGE salad! Very nice rolls were also served. This was an enjoyable meal and I would return!

Wonderful, quiet,delicious

The 4 of us were looking for a dinner that would be prepared and served, allowing us time to get to the Dunedin High School production of the Adams Family. We shared the crab cake dinner with asparagus. For a $4 extra plate we each got two delicious crab cakes in a short time and were able to get to the play in plenty of time. Our waiter, Woody, was very accomondating. Atmosphere at Cafe Alfresco was relaxing and we did some 'people watching' of those passing out on the Pinellas trail. The DHS production was of 5 star quality as well.

Very disappointing

Went there last night for the first (and last) time for my birthday. Should have been a warning when the red sangria I ordered was obviously out of a box, no muddled fruit, just a slice of orange and a maraschino cherry! This was more like a Shirley Temple than a sangria. So we ordered a bottle of pinot noir with dinner. It wasn't even room temp, it was WARM. Poured ice into our glasses to chill them before drinking it. My seared scallops were excellent, however they came with CANNED green beans, UGH. Side salad was okay, mostly iceberg lettuce. Bread was stale, hard as a rock. Will not return and would not recommend.

Flawless Experience, My wife and I came here for brunch and were very impressed with the service by Jessica and by the food. I had the cuban and it was perfect, the potato salad that came with it tasted like it was freshly made and was delicious. My wife had the pulled pork sandwich which came with coleslaw on it and perfect french fries on the side. This restaurant is truly a gem and we will be back and the mimosa was also perfect! This is a Must Do for everyone!

Very disappointed

Fo many years we’ve always enjoyed Cafe Alfresco until last night. I always get the crab crab cakes which used to be good size last time about 9 months ago I noticed they were much smaller but still good…I asked our server Osh what the market price was this time he said I believe $28.00, that was a huge increase from last time so I got shrimp scampi and my wife ordered salmon which was over cooked, dry, and the edges hard. They always served a very nice salad but our server said they no longer serve salads WHAT? We had to pay a $1.99 up charge for each salad which our server never brought to the table until we got our meals ( we saw the salads sitting on the kitchen counter) ..when we went to eat our salads the lettuce leaves were brown. So…huge price increases..food not like what it used to be, salad that was not fresh and no longer included with the meal, and though our server was a very nice polite young man and most likely new on the job he needs better training. After eating there for quite some time we will not go back

Nice menu, friendly staff

Very very nice menu. The appetizers look amazing torn between the potstickers mini crabcakes or tuna sashimi although our waitress said that shrimper fresco is very good as well as the soups. Everything was delicious, surface was quick and attentive, and delicious and healthy dinner. Sandwiches, falafel, Italian specialties and really nice reasonably priced entrées made it hard to choose. Sunday is prime rib Saturday as a rib fest and Friday fish fry. The inside looks cozy and charming but we sat outside with the heat lamps and it was hot. Happy hour is from 3 to 6 with a $4 wine, well drinks and drafts.
