Really good food , service is top notch. One feels like royalty while dining here. Suggest a coffee to top things off.

We have eaten here twice. Great environment for a romantic dinner. Lobster risotto is a great choice but only get the appetizer portion. Pork belly is our favorite. We like the eclectic food choices. Rack of lamb is a good choice too.

We went to the Black Pearl to celebrator wedding anniversary. This is a pricey place, so be prepared for the bill. Also be sure to make a reservation well in advance. The food and the service were very good. We had the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. They were very good, but they do have an anise flavor. So, if... More

The Black Pearl has been a long standing restaurant in Dunedin. There have been many turnovers and changes through the years . I have always found the seating to be awkward . A very small narrow room. Your very close to the other diners. It is upscale and pricy. The filet was excellent, brussel sprouts bitter. There are many restaurants... More

We were impressed by the menu and heard great things about this restaurant. In celebrating a birthday it was a good choice with good food and a low key vibe. The service was interesting in two ways. The waiters were very friendly and warm but it took a very long time between courses. Obviously we weren't in a rush but... More

We went to Black Pearl for our daughter's birthday. It was highly recommended so we were anxious to see for ourselves. It did not disappoint. From the appetizers to the dessert it was a melt-in-your-mouth experience. We got the lobster risotto appetizer and the charcuterie cheese tasting to start. We knew we were in for an evening of delightful tastes.... More

OK, the atmosphere was quiet and refined, the service was excellent, and the food was good. We had the green fried tomatoes, expecting that crunch and semi-sour note, but were greeted with an unusual sweetness. Then the salad with sweet-tart raspberry vinaigrette, only the vinaigrette was more like raspberry syrup. The mushroom bisque was very good - no unseemly sweetness... More

We had a delicious meal at this intimate restaurant. We started with the pork belly appetizer and the fois gras. Both were great. Then, we had the Black Pearl salad which had one of the most delicious dressings I've ever eaten. Two of us had the lobster risotto starter as our main course. It was rich and savory, and more... Very small restaurant, supposedly the "best French food in the area". Not so elegant as advertised either. The service is average, the wines extremely overpriced. The food is bland and what they pretend to be sophisticated resulted, in my case, in a weird combination of ingredients. I asked what was in a couple of dishes and the result was a... More

This is a wonderful place for a special occasion! Food and service are both memorable. It's difficult to find a more intimate, attentive and gastronomically adventurous restaurant. The chef hits the mark and waiters know the minutiae of dishes and wines. It is a dining experience and not simply a dinner.
