This landmark restaurant in Dunedin, Florida is renowned for its iconic waterfront vista, spectacular seafood, and award-winning service. Since opening in the fall of 1976, owners Peter Kreuziger and Chef Karl Riedl have raised the bar for local cuisine year after year. We happily accept reservations for indoor dining, while seating for the outdoor terrace and marina cafe remains available on a first-come-first-served basis.

Let m first start by saying my wife has Dairy, Nut, Soy, egg and gluten allergies. Non Appetite catered to all of them and prepared a lovely “Grouper Bon Appetit” which was visually and tastefully delicious. Our survey, an older gentleman, was a delight to have waiting our table. He not only assured us that my wife’s allergies were not an inconvenience but went to talk to the chef prior to taking our order to customize the dish.
Thank you to the Chef and staff on the evening of December 28, making it a special evening out.

I booked reservations for My Honey and I to have a Romantic Dinner for the 4th of July, and Bon Appetit did not Disappoint! First class from the moment we walked in the door. Elegant table setting with a magnificent water view for the sunset. Server was wonderfully attentive and our selections were handled as if we were the only diners in the place. My Wife thoroughly enjoyed her Grouper Bon Appetit, and my pan seared Scallops were excellent. Best part of the experience was watching the sunset dance in my Wife's eyes and smile. Definitely a wonderful experience for us!!

We went with friends for Father’s Day. Couldn’t get rezzies for anything between 5 and8 pm so we went at 4:30. Started off with 18 Chesapeake oysters that were small and sweet, continued on with mussels in a garlicky sauce, scallops cooked to perfection, red snapper on stir fried veggies, Caesar salad, and the piece de resistance, Dover sole filleted table side by our wondrously knowledgeable server, Bill. Our table looked out over the water and it just couldn’t have been more perfect. The place started filling up midway through our meal but the acoustics kept the noise level very low. The younger crowd might find Bon Appetit a bit old school, but I thought it was classic.

We sat outside and our waitress was very nice. The food left something to be desired. A $55 filet mignon with a scoop of mashed potatoes and vegetable medley; it was supposed to be med but a lot of it was dry and over cooked and definitely not melt in your mouth as a filet should be. $40+ scallops and filet tips were mediocre at best. Scallops had a slightly fishy taste and the tips were chewy. It was served on something that resembled risotto with asparagus stems and some other things that weren’t recognizable. The white sangria looked great but had hardly any flavor at all. This was early and our food came quickly so I can’t attribute it to them being too busy. We were very disappointed because we had really looked forward to dining here.

We live in Dunedin and went for dinner on the outside patio. We felt the restaurant was very overpriced with small portions. They want to be an upscale restaurant, but use plastic red Coca-Cola cups for water glasses. My husband had the land and sea. The beef tips were dry and over cooked. The three scallops were fine but again, for $42, overpriced.

What was once my go to restaurant is my stay away restaurant. To pay $55 for a filet that is tough, not cooked to requirements with some horrible carrot mixture that was horrible is sad. They have cooks, not chefs as they had in the past. Will never return. It showed that the location was sold and there is no quality. Please do yourself a favor, do not eat here. If you do, do not spend much money, the higher end is low quality for a higher price. Before the sale, this place was the best of the best, now, well its not worth the time or effort to stop. My gosh, carrots, seriously and your cesar salad, you took off the top for something else and served the bottom all the way to the very end which was on my plate. Crabby Bills you do not deserve a restaurant like this one. Why did you purchase it and destroy it? Cheap is as Cheap does, you want to charge high prices and produce cheap meals. Done with you. Sorry for your staff, they were great, food was awful!

As a life long resident of the area, we have eaten at Bon Appetit restaurant many time over the last 15 plus years, and always have had excellent service and food, for a good price. We even ate there when it was McGowan's restaurant in the 60's and 70's.
However, times have changed... including ownership of this fine restaurant. My wife and I ate dinner on August 8th for our 42nd anniversary celebration. The dinner started out excellent as it has in the past. Appetizers of Escargot and Ceasar Salad were excellent! We both ordered the Ny Strip Oscar, which is now at a hefty price of $54.00 per serving! This is a significant increase from just one year past. Our steaks were less than impressive... they were thin by "fine restaurant" standards and were very tough, and lacking in taste. No manager came to talk with us and we left disappointed.
Before posting this rating, I did attempt to email and request a return contact to no avail.
Unfortunately, due to the price, and reduced quality of the meal we will take our patronage elsewhere....

Traveled a little out of our comfort zone (Clearwater), to try this restaurant. Located in a working marina w/ a great view of the water & sunset, we were seated promptly. seating was available inside and out. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Our waitress greeted us promptly and started our experience. We began w/ apps (onion soup and crab cake). Run of the mill apps, nothing that jumped out for us. For dinner, I had the Pistachio Crusted rack of lamb (1/2 rack) and my wife had the Filet Mignon (nice piece of filet). Unfortunately some of my lamb chops were not cooked to my liking and my wife's filet came w/ Bearnaise sauce on it. My wife was very adamant when ordering that she wanted the sauce on the side. The waitress wanted to take it back (no thank you). It's a good thing that the bartender made a decent Mojito. This was not the dining experience that I envisioned.

I hate to give a negative review, but I feel like I have to in this case. I would give zero stars if I could. It was SO bad we left mid meal. First let me start by saying we waited a half hour to be greeted and get water! Followed by cold Publix bread rolls. The Aperol spritz were only filled to half a wine glass, which is fine for wine, but this cocktail contains ice! It was only two sips and gone. The mussels were over cooked, fishy and bland (we sent them back). The manager finally came and apologized and we expressed how we would like to walk away. So instead he brought out our main courses anyway. We had explained to our waitress that my friend was vegetarian. Well guess what? Her dish had pancetta in it. My angel hair pasta was from a cheap box and overcooked, not al dente. We left angry and hungry since none of the food was edible. Overall it was a horrible experience and I will NEVER be back. Please think TWICE before visiting this restaurant.

Oh my... Simply the worst experience, meal and service, in years. Maybe ever. Where do I begin? We were seated in a five-foot wide area, with two-tops on both sides. We could have held hands with the people next to us. The waiter was a piece of work. Doesn't listen, and asked if we wanted to order three times in the first ten minutes. Not at all appropriate for what is supposed to be a more upscale restaurant. My wife then drank some water and made a face. Said the water tasted bitter. Glass was dirty. Her wine came and it looked like an oil slick was floating on top. Another dirty glass? Our meals came out of the kitchen and sat on a tray stand for awhile before the waiter delivered. Her crab meat was cold, and the New York Strip was undercooked and tasteless. Her mystery vegetable, possibly yellow carrots, was also tasteless. The baby asparagus was more like senior citizen asparagus. The only positive was that my grouper was pretty good. $183 plus tip out the door and out the window. There are too many great restaurants in the area to eat at this place. They should be ashamed, giving Dunedin a black eye.

Magnificent water views, impressive dining room, friendly, courteous service. Our waitress Celeste was professional, efficient, dedicated, and made our dining experience a highlight of the day. Menu selection is wonderful with something for everyone. Our table had four different dishes and each one was cleaned to the last morsel...and the portions were quite generous.

We celebrated my aunt's 100th Birthday at Bon Appetit on a Sunday in April. We have had Birthday Celebrations at Bon Appetit for her the past 5 years and Christmas Parties, too. The upstairs venue is excellent for a large party. The views from the room are spectacular- with floor to ceiling windows offering awesome water views. There is a large bar in the room, making it great for a party that serves alcohol. We opted for an Open Bar for the birthday party. The staff Nancy & Nikki are both great at working with us on food, set up, etc. to make it a wellrun event. Their menu is good - we had Salmon, Chicken, and Prime Rib with Asparagus and Fingerling Potatoes.
They now have wireless microphone which makes it much easier for the announcement or programs. In our opinion Bon Appetit has the best venue for a large party. The setting is the best. It was nice that they'd had a party the day before and left the seat covers on the chairs which added to the appearance and charm of the room. We had 70 attendees at this birthday party. The staff was helpful with our decorations and party gifts.
Our only negatives are the serving portions are a bit "small". One piece of salmon, chicken, 3 spears of broccoli and 3 or 4 fingerling potatoes seems very light. Guests can go back for more. Additionally, we had the petite dessert so guests could try a couple, as we had done in the past. At this party, they did not plan with enough desserts so guests could only have one. It is a very small dessert so really just a tasting.
It was an awesome party for my aunt's 100th birthday. We had a Banner for her party which became a backdrop for pictures with her.
Note: pictures are a challenge due to the mirrors in the room so you have the "backs" of people and with all the natural light it can be bit of a challenge, too.

The 3 stars were for my wife’s French onion soup , her wine and my IPA.
Otherwise it would be one.
We have eaten here for 20 years when my parents in law were alive. I am English, my wife is American and we have a condo here but live in the UK and eat in Europe frequently.
We arrived by boat today and sat outside on the terrace.
Our first issue was the iPad menus! Fine for Dennys but not here.
I ordered grilled “ Spanish” octopus and a small Caesar.
The latter was unexceptional but ok but the octopus …..when I managed to identify the body parts… was not grilled but soggy in a mix of creamy mess.
I sent it back explaining the the octopus at Frenchys Saltwater Grill only a few miles away, was the same price, although called “ Greek”, and was presented in a generous portion, grilled in olive oil with lemon and still identifiable at post mortem as an octopus.
Clearly not the dish as described in the picture in the iPad but a simple apology from the manager would have sufficed.
Instead , after Christine, our excellent server told him, he failed to appear despite us ordering more drinks and giving ample time.
We used to love Bon Appetite but now it appears it’s gone the way of the world where populism is the norm…. no longer somewhere for that special occasion.

Beautiful waterfront seating but average dinners Wait staff are well trained, which is nice....however way too too much up selling of food and even bottle water upon being seated. Constant approach about adding extras to meal, etc. Like Wait staff is being pressured by management to get customers to spend more and more.

It is so hard to find a restaurant that has truly spectacular food. I ordered the land and sea. The beef tips were overcooked and they gave 3 small scallops and some mushy rice.
Everything is so overpriced and very little quality.
I was not impressed for the price. I did enjoy the atmosphere and our waiter was very nice.
I doubt I'll go back.
I don't care for restaurants that charge $50 for a meal and can't even give you a salad.
