After seeing that J&J was TripAdvisor's #1 for seafood in Delray Beach, we made a reservation (a good idea because the place isn't huge). We chose a table on the sidewalk--a little tippy, but we adjusted. Our server has been with the restaurant nearly as...long as it's been open (20 years). Courtney, I think. Excellent, helpful, upbeat and cheerful. We shared the red snapper, clearly a specialty of the house because so many people order it. Here's where the chef shines. The pan-sear was perfectly executed, the plating on champagne risotto with lobster sauce was lovely, and it came with two shrimp--which were slightly overdone, but fine. Usually this dish is photographed with asparagus, but ours came with broccoli that was a little too al dente for our taste. We also shared seafood chowder, a nice, spicy blend of tomato base and seafood. You can see from the photo how packed with stuff it was. Bill was also dying for a stone crab claw, but geez, at $25 that was an awful lot of work for only a little bit of yummy meat. One must get used to astronomical prices in Delray Beach, though.More

My mom and I went for dinner on Saturday after some time shopping on the avenue. We did not have a reservation so we sat at the bar. We were warmly welcomed by Orlando (who was working the raw bar) and Jen (the bartender). The...menu looked great. We decided to order a few appetizers. We started with clams on the half shell...so fresh and delicious, then the seafood mac and cheese (which was more like a dinner size then an appetizer size)... so rich and fabulous! Next were the crab cakes and then the calamari. Both were so good!! We ended our meal with the most outstanding Key Lime pie I have ever tasted. I can't wait to take my husband and tell my friends about it. This is my new favorite restaurant in Delray!More

We popped in here for lunch last week, I had the salad with seafood trio - crab cake, diver scallop, and shrimp in a roasted beet truffle oil vinaigrette - amazing. We started with oysters, and had the seafood chowder - also amazing.

You definitely need a reservation as this place gets packed. The meal was fabulous and our waitress was great too! Looks small but definitely 5 star dining!

This is an informal eating and drinking establishment. The seafood is fresh, the prices are reasonable, and the people who work here are friendly and attentive. My wife was at the fashion show in Delray and I came here to have a beer or two...and some oysters. I dragged her in here the next day and we went back five times over the next three weeks. The restaurant is the opposite of glitzy and the kitchen is tiny, but the menu has a lot of range and the food is quite good. The catch of the day is always a good bet and the oysters are reasonably priced. Trip Advisor asks all these questions about gluten, vegetarians, and vegans. I'm sure the staff would answer these questions with the utmost diplomacy, but frankly, nobody gives a crap - unpretentious and fun.More

Fine food, great service. Small place. Had lobster pot pie, Oysters. Couldn’t have been more pleased. Wife’s mussels were excellent. The oysters the best I’ve had in a long time. Pot pie to die for.

We were extremely pleased to have made reservations here. The food and service here are outstanding, and because the dining area is narrow and linear, J and J doesn't have the ambient noise overload found in so many Delray restaurants, so you can have conversation...at dinner without shouting. High marks for the oysters and the lobster. Parking is hard to find nearby, especially before 9 pm, so plan accordingly if you need to drive.More

This was our first visit to J&J’s we walked up, no reservation on a Tuesday and were seated quickly. Our waitresses Collin came to our table right away. She greeted us with a smile and précis customer service. We are very familiar with the restaurant...business and know good customer service when we see it. On top of the great, quick and attentive service the food was amazing. I have a scallop appetizer special and the J&J trio appetizer is was filling if you are hungry but want to leave a little room for the dessert! My husband had the scallops and shrimp curry that was devine! A definite must if visit Delray. Prices per plate around 30-35 bucks! Good service, food and atmosphere!More

Decided to repeat at J&J during the week we were in Delray Beach; this place is terrific! Food is outstanding, wines by the glass, which can be pretty bleak, were excellent as well. Only knock was the delay in getting seated first time; half an...hour after the reservation time but well worth the wait ... and a result of this place's popularity, no doubt. Don't review much but worth it to share great vibes on J&JMore

Again, we had a great experience at J & J. It is certainly one of Delray Beach’s best restaurants! Our group shared the Seafood Mac and Cheese appetizer. To be picky, it was not as large as on prior visits and there was not much...seafood in it. However the cheese sauce was scrumptious and we mopped up,every last bit with the excellent fresh bread provided to the table! I had the Coconut Curry Shrimp and scallops which was perfectly seared scallops and tasty grilled shrimp in a slightly spicy curry sauce. It was fabulous! My companion had the J & J Tower (filet mignon, crab cake, grilled shrimp) which is her usual entree here and it never fails to please! Others at the table had the Seafood Mixed Grill, the Grouper (blackened by special request), Pan-seared Snapper, and a special Snapper. All were thoroughly enjoyed! Since there have been some criticisms of the servers here, it would be remiss of me not to mention that our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and very patient with our group of 6. She kept the meal perfectly paced! She was a true professional. This small restaurant on Atlantic Avenue just east of federal highway does a great job with food and really deserves a visit. The bar serves only wine and beer with no mixed drinks. Parking can be problematic when there are large crowds for events.More
