Stop in for best burger around.

Best Burgers Around. If you want a laid-back experience and really good hamburgers ear here. Port burger is great, except the person who cooks doesn't adhere to the rare medium well for doneness. Medium is rare. Well done, is a hockey puck. So choose your cook level wisely. Always choose the sweet potato fries and ask for tiger sauce for dipping and for burgers. Forget ketchup. Also, their condiments sit outside in 95+ heat, including mayo. We don't use them. One of the best thing about this place was Friday and Saturday night live music and dancing BUT they filled in a dance area with rables that are screwed down. So it looks like no more dancing. Too bad. So, it's just an afternoon burger.

Top gun

The kind of place you'd find Tom Cruise hanging out at after a fly-by too close to control tower as he show boats to the other recruits. Food isn't Michelin star, but you're practically on the runway while eating it. Very unique location for Volusia county, as you'll be watching skydivers whilst eating a greasy, elbow dripping burger. Fries are great, the kind with the crispy, glassy exterior. 4 stars for the whole dining package rather than any one particular thing.

My friend brought me here after our weekend hunt. He claimed that their burgers were the Best all around. He was not joking. The G6 burger was a double decker full of taste and Angus beef patty. The fries, at an extra cost, will not disappoint you. I took advantage of the cooler weather and ordered the chilly, which was also delicious. The grille has indoor and outdoor sitting overlooking at the Sanford Municipal Airport. They have a full liquor bar and Thursday Karaoke. One can enjoy the view of airplanes as well as viewing the local Sky Divers (located nearby) while having a great bite to eat.

What a RIP OFF!

I ordered the Fish and Chips Basket. This included 2, super thin, over cooked, pieces of Grouper and 4 Breaded Deep fried Shrimp. The Fish came out with the Tartar Sauce but there was no Cocktail Sauce for the Shrimp. So I let the server know they forgot my Cocktail Sauce. They brought it out and I proceeded to eat my lunch. When we were finished, I requested our Bill. I noticed there were 2 charges for extra sauce. My wife requested extra dressing for the salad she ate and was charged $.50 for it. I asked what the other charge was for and was told it was for my Cocktail Sauce! I have eaten this very same meal here in the past and Fish always comes out with Tartar Sauce and the Shrimp always came with Cocktail Sauce. To have to pay "EXTRA" for something that comes with the Shrimp in every Restaurant I have ever eaten in for over 74 years, is utterly ridiculous! They charge $19.00 for this Lunch to begin with. What a total rip off. So know this, I will NOT be back to the Airport Ginmill again! It isn't about the money, it is about the principle. If I ordered a Cup of Coffee and the establishment charged me extra for the Cream and Sugar, I wouldn't go back there either. You people are sorry excuses for owners! Ed D. Deltona, Florida

A poor selection for dining out.

Terrible experience. Good ambiance ruined by poor staff. Rude. Nasty wait staff. They denied the restaurant had a manager, and I asked 3 different staff about connecting me to management. Saturday night, and no manager spells serious problems. Appetizer had to be requested 3 times, arrived well after main course, and served cold and soggy. One staff member, a very hairy unhairnetted served food by throwing plates at the table as he strolled by. Same individual shouted at me and my 95 year old mother as we were leaving . This place also charges an unannounced surcharge on your bill to cover their credit card expenses. I avoided this place for two years following an unsatisfactory experience, and regret giving them another chance this past weekend. A nice venue ruined by poor staff behavior and apparently bad/absent management. Who ensures health department rules are even known, much less observed?

Forget Lunch!

Our group from work decided to have lunch at the Airport Restaurant and Gin Mill, expecting a quiet Tuesday afternoon. To our surprise, the place was bustling, especially the bar area. While our drink orders were promptly delivered, our dining experience left much to be desired. Although our individual orders were taken swiftly, the wait for our meals was excessively long. Some of us were left waiting while others were already halfway through their meals. Regrettably, one member of our party was completely forgotten, receiving their order only after everyone else had finished. The rushed experience, coupled with the lack of acknowledgment or compensation to the forgotten customer from the restaurant, left a sour taste. As for the food, opinions were mixed. Those who opted for burgers found them satisfactory, but those of us who tried the salads, such as the Grouper Salad, were disappointed. The fish was partially cold, and the salad skimpy. Despite its popularity and my past visits, this lunch experience leaves me unable to rate the restaurant any higher than two stars. Proceed with caution.

Awful service and shady charging

First time I came here was not bad, which is the reason I came back again. My second time here was absolutely atrocious. Wyatt was our server and he wasn’t personable at all. I asked for an iced water and never got it. I had to go walk up all the way to the bar and asked for one from someone else after 20 minutes of watching Wyatt greet and serve other guest and bring them drinks. I had ordered some mozzarella sticks as an appetizer and they never came and they still put them on my check. I told the server about it and he said “Oh yeah, They never came out” And walked away. Never apologized or anything. I ordered my burger medium and it came out medium well, but I ate it regardless because I was over at that point. Lastly, this place has some shady practices. This is a check that I received. Prices are completely different than the menu. The bartender tried to argue that those are the taxes built, but the entire check is just difficult to read and they pocket some money on the side. I’ll probably never come to this place again. The service was the worst I’ve had in a while.

Once the Bastion of The Cheeseburger

I've been coming here since the late 70's, and there was no better burger for 50 miles - guaranteed. However, that has changed since my last visit a few months ago. What was once a sufficient patty of ground chuck cooked accurately, juicy and tender on a nice toasted kaiser roll, is now an overcooked hockey puck reminiscent of a meatball slightly pressed and served on a Grinch Kaiser - 3 sizes too small. They advertise Angus Beef, but I'm sorry, I'm not convinced. The patty was dry and tough. Even quality chuck, overcooked is palatable. It would be wise to revisit the means and methods that made the "Airport" famous for its cheeseburgers and focus on maintaining the quality it once had. I give the Airport a score of 3 for location, atmosphere and quality of service. I can't speak to any other menu item since the cheeseburger is why I come here.

After reading all great reviews, my husband and I decided to try it out, all I can say is one and done never going back. We should have left when first greeted by waitress, we asked if they had beer on tap, replied,"no just bottled" asked if there was a list of beer available, she replied," no, you can get up and look and see what is in the refrigerator behind the bar" REALLY, we should have walked out. We ordered food, husband fish and chips, I got the swiss mushroom burger added bacon as extra. Husband's fish very greasy and rubbery the fries were good. My burger, the bun cold,cheese not melted, no bacon, I tried to eat, but after 2 bites of hamburger, minus the bun, I sent it back. Asked for check, charged full price for the poorly cooked hamburger plus the bacon I never got, spoke with manager and because I ate some of the hamburger she was charging me for it. After further discussion with her on the poor quality of food, she reduced the price from$13.00 to $7.00. So sweet of her, customer satisfaction is not a priority for her and the restaurant's reputation. D

Still the boss!

Met up with a former co-worker here for dinner and some beers. We sat at the outside bar. It was hot, but they had a bunch of fans going, so no trouble. It was her first time here, so I recommended the burger. She got the spicy one (forgot the name) and loved it. I tried something different for the first time - the "ham dip". Hot ham and grilled onions on a pretzel bun with beer cheese dip. It was really good. We both had french fries and x amount of beers. Very enjoyable time.

Heard great things about this place. From Lake Wales but visiting friends living in Deland. Food was great but service was very lacking. It was obvious that she would rather not wait on us. She could not be bothered to bring our food but could not wait to bring us a bill. The others were ok but ‘ok’ just isn’t enough when you are working in a place. Clearly this one needs some schooling in customer service. I’m sure anyone patronizing this place, who is not a local would be able to know who this one is. Wouldn’t mind going back but if she walked up to our table, we would definitely ask for another waitress.

Hidden Gem, and great hang out spot.

This is a place that only the locals know about because there is no reason to be there unless you know its there. From the outside it is your typical hole in the wall establishment. It is a restaurant right outside the local airport. I suggest eating outside on the patio, dogs are allowed, and you get to see planes, helicopters, and skydivers landing while you enjoy the Florida weather and great food. They have great burgers, sandwiches, appetizers, wings, etc. There is a bar and TV screens so you can watch sports. Only downside is the appearance of the building, it could use a bit of sprucing up but still the food is great and the service and airport make this one of my favorite spots in Deland.

Heard about the burgers, how amazing they were. Everything sounded good but I eventually settled on the drunken philly with lots of "youza" beer cheese on top. Lovely. We all got a couple orders of the jalapeno popper appetizers. You've never had anything prepared like this before. Delicious twist. Go, you'll like it.

Good food with a fun view

We really enjoyed the food and watching the jumpers land right outside the window. After we ate, we stayed for another hour on the outside deck watching them some more. My husband had very good fish tacos (but they were light, so he was still hungry), and I had the Chicken Caprese Panini which was SOOOO good. Nice that they had a full bar too!

Pretty Cool Some restaurants benefit by location and funkiness. This place sure does and with decent food to boot. Outside by a bunch of airplanes. Sky divers zooming in from overhead. Cold beer (Full bar as well). Big fat mushroom swiss burger. Need I go on. This place is pretty cool!
