My wife and I went and had dinner at Cress Saturday evening and again, they did not disappoint. The service was spot on, as well as the atmosphere in the restaurant was great and what can I say but again the chef's did not disappoint my wife and I, the food was fantastic all three courses from the soup, to the main dish and the delicious dessert what more can you ask for. Thanks again for a wonderful dinner.

I had heard a lot about this restaurant and was not disappointed. We were seated promptly and service was great. There are some very interesting items to choose from lunch and the portions were just right. The fresh catch was red snapper and it was served with blank lentils which my husband just loved. I had the blackened fish sandwich which was delicious but with the amount of sauce on it I could have used one more napkin. The soup of the day was ch8ickpea with lemon and was delicious. We parked on a nearby street. Prices are reasonable.

We heard all about Cress and the quality of food and service, so we decided to do some fine dining. We had a large party of 6 for a special birthday celebration. We were greeted by the actual owners who are hands on with their dining guest. It felt like we were part of their family and treated to excellent service. There was a special menu for the month of June as they joined the "Bite30 Orlando dining promotion" The cost was excellent at $33 for a full three course meal. I had the Shrimp and Grits, which was prepared with a rich sauce and not too spicy (as I'm not a fan of spicy food) I was brought out a sample of the sauce before ordering to make sure it wasn't too spicy. This was done without me even asking. As entrees four of us ordered from the Bite30 menu. We had the Shrimp and Grits and the leg of lamb. The lamb I was told was braised for over 5 hrs. before serving. You could tell as you cold cut it with a fork, It was so tender it melted in your mouth and was accompanied by a sauce and creamy potatoes. Both dishes were excellent with flavor and more then enough on the proportion size as well. Our other two friends had the filet and the grouper, which I was told was excellent as well. I finished off the the evening with the third course and picked the Creme Boule that was to die for. They even brought out a candle on our friends dessert for his birthday. I will also mention the Wine selection which I was told by my friends was excellent, as I dont drink wine. The server was quickly able to suggest what wine to go with your entree. We will all definitely be back and you should definitely visit when in Deland.

Just a "meh..." Made a reservation two days ahead. Really looking forward to a great meal after touring the Stetson Mansion with friends. Not much of a selection, only serves beer and wine. Prices exorbitant. $40.00 for cocoa rubbed ribeye, served with bleu cheese augratin potatos (sounded delicious, couldn't locate/taste blue cheese,) server was not very friendly, conversational or knowledgeable. Had coffee after dinner with desert. Never offered a refill. I won't go again and I will not recommend. They may be one of the only upscale restaurants in beautiful downtown DeLand, BUT I'll take my tastebuds, friends and $ somewhere else to dine in the future.

Amazing local restaurant. Unique and delicious food, the owner is onsite and greets guests, servers are professional and personable. I had dinner there all 3 nights I was in town. I would love to go back with family so they could also enjoy. Impeccable.

What an amazing experience. Hard to be believe this restaurant does not have a higher rating. Service was was exemplary by the two wait staff that provided our service, one of whom was Matt — he deserves five stars alone. The Crusted grouper was amazing. I would rank this restaurant higher than Fishbones in Lake Mary, one of my favorites, for quality of food, service and price point.

Wow, I never in a million years thought I would find such a gem in Deland, FL. Cress is right up there with any 5 star dining in New York, Miami or Chicago. Wow, the owners take such pride in their place and I love the hometown feel of Cress coupled with the high quality of their menu and their Chef. Everything we ordered was perfect. If you are planning a trip to Deland it is a 'must go' or plan a trip to W. Volusia just for Cress it is worth it. Also prices are just as good as the dining. Love Love Love Misty

My wife had the duck which she felt was the best she ever had. I had the braised lamb which also was excellent as was the soup, I had the Prix Fix dinner which included either brad pudding of creme bruole for dessert. Choose the creme broule. The bread pudding was dry and tasted burnt.
Service was slow, the waitress inattentive and the check incorrect.
Never the less the food was so good we recommended the restaurant to friends.

While visiting our sons at Stetson, we had a wonderful family dinner at Cress. Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant in downtown Deland. The staff truly cares about your experience and the food is absolutely amazing – everything we tasted melted in other mouths. Absolutely the best meal we had while visiting this charming town. Highly recommend!

We have wanted to try this spot since it started to get rave reviews upon its opening in 2018 naming it one of the best restaurants in Central Florida. We live in New Smyrna Beach which is about 25 miles away and decided to take the drive and experience this spot.
We arrived at their opening dinner hour of 17:00 and were greeted by the manager Tom Brant and led to a nice two top near the front window. Tom is one of the owners along with Hari Pulapaka, and Jenneffer Pulapaka. We did make reservations on their website although on this Thursday it was not busy for the first hour.
We were introduced to our efficient server. Her name did not appear on the receipt which would be a good idea for reviewers. We started with an Amuse from the chef, a glass of Zenato Pinot Grigio for the wife and a glass of Krombacher beer for me.
We decided to select our entree from the chef specials for the day. They offered a Wild Boar Tenderloin from chef Phil which we did not select and chef Sam's special "Marcona Almond Encrusted Carolina Flounder with sweet potato puree, local Napa cabbage slaw with Goji Berry Vinaigrette, local snow peas and a charred scallion crema". The items made for a very colorful plate, but one that we did not enjoy. The fish were perfect, but the slaw was overpowering, the green snow peas too much on the al dente side and the puree and crema just too much "mush". The flavors just did not complement the excellent fish in our opinion.
The total bill came to $89.46 which was to be expected for an upscale spot. It just did not work for us. We will give them another try if the future and hopefully I can offer an "Excellent" review at that time.

Our family of four really enjoyed our dinner here one night. The service was excellent, and the food was tasty. Huge selection of wine, as you would expect. The prix fixe menu was an excellent deal, including an appetizer, entrée, and dessert. They even accommodated our vegan, which was great. Would happily eat here again. This seemed to be one of the nicer restaurants we encountered while walking along the main drag of Woodland Avenue in downtown Deland. Even still, the prices were very reasonable.

We went out to eat with friends and arrived at the restaurant, from the entrance the attention was unbeatable. The food met expectations. I ordered a curry with seafood, very well balanced. The atmosphere was pleasant and not noisy, so we really enjoyed the evening.

A hot Saturday afternoon in Deland under the shade outside. A perfect place to slow down and enjoy a meal that is prepared just for you. If you are looking for fast food don't stop in. If you are looking to dine on fine food this is the place. An ice tea to cool you down while you people watch the time away.
We like to share late lunch and taste new things. Mushroom flatbread was so very flavorful, I thought it might be cheesy goo on top, wrong just a light sauce that complimented the mushrooms. Win!
The cheeseboard was delivered and explained completely upon arrival. Talk about different and delish. Seafood sausage, a compressed meat combination turrene (a meatloaf like texture, but that's not the flavor, which was a tender and unexpected mix of different meats and fruit), lentil bean hummus, two very aged cheeses, great mustard seed chutney and more. Served with toasted French bread. The best cheese board we have had, including Philly and NYC!
Too full for our strawberry and goatcheese salad so we took it home. It was just right later instead of dinner, still not that hungry from lunch. Great mix of strawberries, orange slices, walnuts, goat cheese and fresh torn lettuce. I am so tired of cheep mix greens from Sam's Club that the restaurants use now. This was fresh and crunchie after sitting in my fridge for hours! House dressing light and tangy.

Don’t miss this place. Extraordinary fresh and flavorful menu options. Herb crusted fish and garlic escargots were amazing. Terrific wine list earned them a 2022 wine spectator award. Service and personal care by servers and owners make it extra special.

The new, dependable lunch and dinner service has given us a lunch option with the amenities of linen on the table and cheerful service.
Our last visit found the cheeseburger way too salty. I handed that critique on to our server to hand on to the kitchen. Maybe next time...
