Full-out best seafood platter combo. $40 with salad and side. Worth it. Everything on the platter was cooked correctly. Most impressive, everything was piping hot. And, the scallops (think 5 or 6) were about 1/2-dollar sizes and meaty. Another diner had oysters on the half...shell and said "Excellent." That said, those at the table getting fried oysters... not so satisfied: They got a ton of those potato chip fries and some oysters which they thought were too big. The fries around the oysters got soft. Tasted a chip. Okay, but the amount looked overpowering. They really wanted ipswitch clams on the menu but not available. TIP for 2: One person gets the chips, the other gets the slaw and shares. They left a ton of chips behind. If you were a teen, you'd be happy to scarf them down. SERVICE: very attentive. Allowed separate checks. Parking is a bear. They had a small lot next to it, and places in front for curbside pickups but didn't notice if the lost was valet or pay only. We Ubered there. My bill was $61 with one drink and the $40 combo. A bit high for me. but good value. LOCATION: It's attached to a Flannigan's visible from A1A when approaching the traffic light. Turn west and it's on the north side of A1A just past Flannigan's side door.More

Clams on the half shell were small but good. Blackened Dolphin was delicious. Whale fries were a hit. Ashley our waitress was excellent.

Decided to give this restaurant another try as we ate here before and it was fair to say the least. Ordered shrimp cocktail and clams casino. The waitress came back and said they were out of shrimp. Being a seafood restaurant, you would think they...would have shrimp. Decided to order raw clams instead. Both the clams casino & raw clams were so small they only give you 6 and charge much more than they should for the size. The dinners we ordered were crab cake & a chicken sandwich. The crab cakes had flavor but were cold. The chicken had no flavor and was extremely grisly. Needless to say we will not try this place anymore. I don't understand why it is always crowded. What are people actually eating that they like?More

Not a bad location though parking is limited at the restaurant. Great customer service with Mikayla. The food was nothing special, conch chowder was heavy on the salt and very light on the conch - if there was any. I ordered the blackened dolphin and...the flavor was good, however, the fish was cooked past its prime and very dry. My wife had the blacked prime rib which was actually good. Needless to say, first visit was our last.More

The service was outstanding, food was fairly priced (especially for being this close to the beach) and really good. We ate outside for a late lunch on a weekday.

Food was good but a little slow. Whale fries are actually chips so we were a little disappointed! Food was ok, and the waitress was super nice.

Having heard of this place on Check Please, and seeing other good reviews, my friend and I decided to try it. The New Engand clam chowder was passable, but lacked something in the taste. The fried shrimp was covered with a thick, chewy batter, the...coleslaw was just chopped red cabbage, and the Whale fries were incredibly greasy. The booth by the door had an uncomfortable seat that rocked. All in all, a very disappointing experience even though the service was good.More

Not sure what all the hype is about. It's diner food. I ordered the blackened dolphin. I was very disappointed with the extremely small portion size. Flavor was okay but it was a thin, 3"x3.5" fillet and on the dry side. My husband ordered the...prime rib. It was tasty but not a typical cut.. We ordered oysters Rockefeller, which we love. This was not oysters Rockefeller. This was a Florentine. It came topped with spinach and a sliced tomato. The "whale chips" were unsalted home fried potato chips. The special sauce was not so special. Pricing wasn't bad, two beers, one glass of Chardonnay, the oysters, something or other, his prime rib my dolphin and more whale chips was just over $100. We were not impressed and suggest you look elsewhere to spend your hard earned money.More

Decided to give the place a try since the reviews were good and the place was crowded. This was a mistake the size of a whale’s rib. First, no matter how you cut it, this place is a pub and the food is pub food....It is attached to Flanigan’s (a pub) and they share the same kitchen; I know so because the credit card texted me that the bill was paid to “Whale’s Rib / Flanigans,” so the register is keyed for both. Second, ordered cheese sticks as an appetizer and, while I know these are not going to be homemade, I didn’t expect them to come out still frozen in the middle. Send ‘em back and the server brought some more but these weren’t taken off the bill, something I think should have been without asking. My guest and I decided to share the fish sandwich that was featured on “Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.” Great, we thought: this is what was on TV, the server said they were famous for it, and, well, gotta be good, right? Nope. First bite was, “this might be good” but each bite afterward was a hard no for both my guest and me. Between the both of us, we tasted a quarter of the sandwich and left the rest. Then there was the baked potato: it was a baked potato and was on the firm side, as if it needed to be in the microwave another minute (no way in the Hades that was “baked” in any way). The servers were nice enough. The music was a bit loud if you’re trying to carry on a conversation, but it was 80s music so I did enjoy that. The crowd was loud as in any pub so I can’t really count off for that. My summation is that this is a pub. It is typical pub food. The place is exactly what you would expect and get in any tourist / beach town. If you’re looking for a typical pub with the typical crowd of a pub, this is your place. It just isn’t what I was hoping for. I would give it a 2.5 out of 5.More

Staying in the area my wife and I walked to Whale’s for dinner. We were promptly seated at an indoor table as requested. Our waitress Delilah was outstanding. She told us the history and made suggestions which we found to be point on. The manager...came by a couple times checking that all was satisfactory. This dinner was a pleasant and unexpected surprise.More
