Decent but not hugely impressive!

It was pretty busy, but we’re seated quickly. Server was very nice and food was average. It wasn’t the greatest. We had the combination with steak, clams, crab legs and shrimp with slaw. The a/c above us was leaking on us while we were eating. Prices were ok. It was strange that you have to pay for parking which is $20 but they give you some vouchers and the restaurant gives you the money in cash with your meal. We were told by the hotel they were the best oysters around, and apparently they have not had oysters in years. Except maybe in October. So, forget those if that’s what you are looking for.

Amazing wings and one of the only places to eat right on the beach!

Keep in mind, it’s a bit more of a beach bar atmosphere than a restaurant (though the upstairs, indoor part is more of a restaurant vibe, but then you’re looking at the ocean through windows). In that part of Daytona, it is sure to be quite an interesting mix of people (the classiest parts of the Daytona Beach area are down toward Ponce Inlet near the lighthouse or New Smyrna Beach or further north toward Ormond Beach). That said, be sure to go downstairs and eat in the part of the restaurant/bar that is open to the beach! The sweet, tangy garlicky wings (I can’t remember what the sauce is called, but it won’t be hard to figure out) are one of the best things I’ve ever tasted in my life…seriously!!! Crispy, saucy and delicious. I seriously dream about these wings.

Wonderful lunch right by the beach

We were looking to have lunch somewhere near the beach and decided on Ocean Deck because of the good reviews. We weren't expecting much for the food but wanted to enjoy the location. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food at reasonable prices and the great service. Keep in mind this is bar food but it's some of the best I've had in a while. We enjoyed fried clams, Mahi tacos and boneless wings. And the fries were amazing. We were lucky to get a table by the window to enjoy the views. The place is small and it's first come first serve so you may have to wait a while. Although some parking places in the area where charging $20 flat fee for parking, they offer valet parking and the attendants work for the tips. We will definitely be back when in the area.

Dive Bar on the Beach!

I recently visited Ocean Deck for the first time over the weekend, and unfortunately, I was not impressed. Having lived in Florida for almost 50 years, we had family visiting from out of state who wanted to check out a beach bar, so we decided to finally give this place a try. Ocean Deck, first opened in 1955, definitely shows its age and I don’t mean that in a historic way. The location is in a rather seedy part of town, surrounded by homeless individuals, street people, and older buildings and motels. We were surprised when Ocean Deck wanted to charge us $20 for parking. However, we found a County lot just 200 yards north where we could park for $8. As for the restaurant itself, it’s far from historic – it's just dirty. The servers were rude, and it felt like they wanted us to pick a seat, order, eat, and leave as quickly as possible to make room for the next customer (check out the reviews below and see if you can pick put the common theme). The place is dreary, with low ceilings, filthy stairs, and old, worn-out signs and paraphernalia that scream for renovation. While Ocean Deck is known for its booze, the food left much to be desired. I ordered the Yacht Club sandwich, which was so thick with three slices of bread that it was difficult to eat. I managed to eat about half. My wife tried the Mahi Sandwich and found it just okay. The rest of our party also found their selections to be merely “okay” and expressed no desire to return. There are many other beachside locations, including those in New Smyrna Beach, that are far nicer than this. Save yourself the trouble and visit one of those instead. You’ve been warned.

Paid cover to have drinks at this establishment, got a drink at the bar and sat down, then a server came up to us and asked if we wanted a food menu. We said no because we’re just here for drinks and she proceeded to tell us she was loosing money with us sitting here and we had to move. We asked if we were getting more drinks if we could stay and she said yes but after that exchange we decided to move to another table. Once we sat we were greeted by another server who was very kind and let us finish our drinks, we then saw the two servers talking and looking our way and the server never came back to us. Only go to this bar if you want to stand.

Very poor service. They gossip and make things up about customers

Had an altercation several months ago with a server on a food order. She was rude, became belligerent when we asked for silver ware and an extra plate (split the plate). We ended up leaving. Have been back several times with friends and family. Today we had that waitress who refused to serve us “because I was rude to her”. Needed the manager to move to another section. She had told them I was drunk! I do not get drunk. Then he said “then you were on something “. I do not do drugs! I told him I am a type 1 diabetic and do not do that. My insulin pump in clear view then he said “ then your insulin pump was malfunctioning!” We were told we could go to another table but we left! Will never go back.

We ordered beer without looking at the menu and when we ordered the second beer, our waiter said it would be half off. This was exciting news until I learned it was $8. My first beer was in a souvenir glass which I have no use for. I thought this should have been said at the beginning.

Meh and Bad service

We came here for lunch with a coupon from the Salty Dog across the street. We had the Gator Bites and, yes, they tasted like chicken. Nothing spectacular and small portion for 13.99. My teenage daughter wanted a smaller burger and asked to order off the kids menu and the waitress was very rude and told her very loudly that it was just for 12 and under. I told her I would pay a little more but she wanted a smaller portion. She angrily said she would have to ask the manager. Thankfully he agreed to it. The food was average and the prices above average. Nothing spectacular but decent. I wouldn't recommend unless you are just staying close and want something convenient.

Awesome ambiance, service on the other hand was below par. Service was a bit slow, but understood. Live music on a Saturday afternoon, it was expected. However the server pulled plates from our table while we were still eating from them. A member of our party let her know that he was still working on is burger, she apologized, but continued to walk away with the plates. We paid 1 check and left a cash tip. We walked to the beach in front of the outside seating and the sever followed us out and complained to us that the tip was not enough. The person who paid the bill began to answer the server as she snatched the receipt and walked away.

It's a nice casual spot. Parking is confusing. If you pay to park yourself they give you a voucher to take it off your bill, and the valet apparently works for tips The only outdoor seating is the rooftop and it is only for private events. They had live music downstairs that we could hear but we didn't go down to watch. The service wasn't good but no complaints about the food.

A hidden gem that locals are right to want to keep it for themselves

While staying next door at the Comfort Inn ( which I also highly recommend) for Rockville we decided to step inside next door while the festival was delayed due to bad weather ( which we did on more than one occasion ) !! Our friends who were also staying nearby all wanted to head to restaurants near Speedway but we wanted to stay near hotel because of inclement weather & we were so glad we did !! Food is great ; great menu & large portions! Staff excellent!! Drink menu: WOW !! I tried 2 & honestly I only drink 3 times if that a year !!! We made the mistake of going to Joe’s : don’t let’s just say we walked out !! If you are staying at Comfort Inn or condos nearby or you just walking the boardwalk I highly recommend eating or grabbing a drink at Ocean Deck !!

Great beach side restaurant and bar

A parking attendant suggested having lunch here and after walking around Daytona beach pier area we decided to have a look at their menu and we decided to sit downstairs rather then the main level. Both areas were busy. Our server was very nice and friendly. We ordered nautical nachos, it was a large portion. enjoyed them, took half back to hotel. Ordered the Cuban sandwich with fries. loved it, very filling. My wife ordered Monte Cristo with fries and it was loaded and delicious. Prices are very reasonable and for a bar the quality of the food is very good. Next time in Daytona we will stop in.

Great food and value

We sat upstairs in family dining, it’s loud so if you have kids that are sensitive to noises bring headphones. Other than that my husband and I both got the shrimp shrimp shrimp dish and it was delicious. For $25 I was impressed with the amount and size of shrimp it came with. We also each got a drink and it wasn’t watered down or week. Will definitely eat here again.

Stay away from the Mojitos & Tayler

Ocean Deck has been a family favorite for as far as I can remember. I empathize with the fact of the pandemic, shortage of supplies that lead to poor food quality,... But we sat in the bar, Tayler (that's what the bill said, no name tags) was our waitress and the service was so poor, I asked for the bill and left paying for a Mojito that tasted like Robitussin!! When she asked if we liked it? We politely said "no". BIG MISTAKE!! She had us for at least 3 min giving us excuses about the sugar syrup not being consistent, how everyone one likes it differently.... She didn't liked when I answered that a cocktail has a recipe and it should be followed. Basically, no mint, no sugar just Bacardi, lime and sprite. Its gonna be along time before I come back! Horrible Friday night.

The food was reasonably priced and delicious! I had Mahi tacos and ate every bite. The portions were large for the price. The restaurant is located directly on the beach and has a fun atmosphere. Our service was great. The only downside is that they are small and are first come, first serve - no reservations and no wait list. However, there is a tiki bar downstairs where you can wait for a table to open and have a drink
