Great fish and Chips

A little crowded in the evenings at dinner time, the wait for a table was about 10 minutes. I was pleased to learn they do take out as well, so you can fulfill your urge for really tasty fish and chips. They offer two sizes, the Big Ben, and the Little Ben. The portion sizes are great! They have Brittish television on the in booth TV sets running, and the owner is proud to be from England and serving some delicious old world recipe fish and chips here in Florida. I try to stop by once or twice when I am in town, and it is worth the 25-30 minute drive. They have Trivia on Monday's and open mic on Wednesday and karaoke on Friday. A great neighborhood place, even if I can' get the recipe for the fish batter from the owner. Always a great time!

The Fish and Chips are perfect every time

The Fish and Chips are perfect every time, the proprietor is absolutely the friendliest and the servers friendly and very polite. We love the fish and chips, but a cold beer on a hot day does add to the enjoyment. The place is full of a little piece of Great Britain, and license tags from all over the world. We always try to stop we we can, take out seems popular now, now is a great time to stop in for fish and chips and have a beer.

Stopped in for a little lunch before the St. Patrick’s Day madness started. What a Great find! Not a very big seating area, but great decorations! Lots of British fare on the menu. The steak and onion pie was homemade and out of this world! The fish and chips were piping hot and some of the best tasting fish I’ve had. The beef stew was outstanding. The prices are very reasonable as well. Located inna strip mall next to a Publix, iff Rt. 27, this place is a true gem.

Disappointing dinner

Read the reviews, most of which were very good, so decided to try it for dinner. We both ordered fish and chips and I think they lost our order because we waited over 25 minutes for the food to be served and it was very undercooked. Several tables came after us and ate and left before our food even came. Service was only fair, never asked if we wanted more to drink or anything else. It’s close to where we’re staying, but I’ll drive further for better fish.

Beware the Fish and Chips

You would think a place which puts fish and Chips on a pedestal would follow thru. Unfortunately this is not the case. Ordered the Cod fish and chips. When I cut into the piece of fish, it was hollow with a mere sliver of fish was hiding inside. I thought maybe I was the unlucky one with this experience. Nope, two others in the party had the same experience. So then we explained to who we are pretty sure was the owner, younger guy with British accent, he took the plates, shrugged and disappeared into the kitchen. Moments later reappeared only to take his place behind the bar and continue drinking beers. I give this place a month. But hey, it's Florida. Overpriced non sense of a state.

Sorry to hear this headshot….I am the owner and would certainly not of just shrugged it off and walked away, I would of bent over backwards to try and rectify the problem, you mention Florida and over priced ,,,,at $11.99 you won’t find a fish and chips anywhere in America I don’t think but please come back and try us again, I will personally cook this again for you. Fish and chips - British pub

A bunch of locals highly recommended the fish and chips. We ordered the “special” recommended by the young server which is 6oz fish with chips(fries). It was a bit overcooked and very greasy. I ordered iced tea, it didn’t taste fresh so I asked for something else to drink. I had only taken 2 sips of the tea and was told I still have to pay for the tea even though I sent it back. We were disappointed as we really were looking forward to the fish and chips. Probably will not return.

Worst Fish I have ever been served!

Service was poor. Two couples who arrived after us were served first. I had the fish and fries based on reviews saying how excellent they were and awards this establishment has won. I do not believe anyone would rate them as such had they been served the food that I received. The fish was wet and mushy with zero flavour. It is almost as if the fish was partially frozen then battered and fried. The fries were also not freshly fried and were served just warm not hot. My husband had the Bangers and mash which he thought were fine. He did not have any complaints about his food. The server offered to get me another piece of fish, but when the other person is almost finished their meal it really isn’t much of an option. Besides if the first piece wasn’t good why would a second be any better. I ended up eating only a few fries. There was no offer to adjust the bill or any apologies for the poor quality.

British Fish and Chips in Davenport? Oh-Yeah!!

We did not expect such a special and wonderful place tucked away at the end of a strip mall in the middle of Florida. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. The staff is very kind and accommodating. Food is definitely British with a bit of a twist. The fish and chips are huge portions of flakey cod in a crisp authentic batter, over a mountain of chips. I had the chicken curry, but swapped out the rice for a place of hand-cut chips, and dumped the delicious curry all over them when it came. I think there may be a new menu item coming soon. You must try this. Absolutely delicious. The ambiance was great. We got there on karaoke night, fun stuff. The place is busy food is great, the prices are very reasonable and the staff is wonderful. What else could you ask for? Highly recommend

Really really poor standards have really dropped in this place and will not be going back what they’re for a birthday meals, and it couldn’t be any worse. To finish it was an absolute nightmare. We wish we’d come somewhere else.

The Best Fish and Chips.

Owner was so amazing and friendly. He seemed to know most of his customers by name. You’d think fish and chips is fish and chips but this restaurant actually had the best fish and chips I’ve ever had.

Expected a lot better

Chose here for a family meal and was somewhat disappointed. We looked at the menu prior and the meals looked and sounded appetising. Upon arrival, we had booked however, it was like we weren’t expected. We were asked to sit anywhere which was fine and the waitress came to take our order. The drinks menu was limited so don’t expect spirits etc. We ordered mains only and a few starters as again, they were quite limited. A couple of us had the bangers and mash or should I say smash as it tasted artificial, I admit they ate it all as they were really hungry. The doner kebab was the most odd concoction of meat in a slab (which was the equivalent of a microwave special) and not a lot of meat as it was dressed in a mass of salad. I had the hunter’s chicken and fries. The chicken was dressed in a small amount of bbq sauce, a bit of bacon and covered in processed cheese slices……yes slices and not grated, okay maybe I’m being fussy but It wasn’t what I expected as I’ve had hunters chicken in other eateries in the US and this was by far the worst. There were 2 large random bones in the chicken and had it have been a child eating this, I would be extremely worried. The fries were edible but not as portrayed in the menu and pictures. Needless to say I won’t be recommending or coming back.

Food is not good.

Ok. There is no way that this place has a 4.4 star rating unless you like frozen food being reheated. We had the fish and chips, crab cakes and southwest egg rolls. All tasted as if they were bought frozen and reheated. The fries were the only thing that tasted ok. They were real potatoes. The rest, I’ll rate 1/10. 1 because the waitress was nice. I will say that it’s a cute pub and reminds me of the ones in London. So that maybe why it gets a 4.4 star rating here because of the entertainment they have during the week. They have Open mic and live music. I suggest going with a full belly. 1 Star is what I’m rating for food only.

We sat outside not to comfortable. Food with a British influence. The fish and chips were good. But that's a simple meal anyway. The Doner was terrible like they never had a real Doner in Turkey or Europe. Zaticki sauce had no garlic and fits a Gyro anyway better. The hamburger overcooked and dry. The fries very robust with skin on it and quite big cuts. The English Ale was excellent. Prices a little high compared to the quality

Walked right into an English pub and had amazing fish and chips. The host was very friendly and very attentive to everything that we asked for they had several varieties of beer on tap. The food was served piping hot and there was a lot of it.

Dining with Roaches — No Thanks

We had just moved to the area and were excited to visit this cool restaurant. Unfortunately our visit was destroyed by a giant roach and staff that was unwilling to kill it. A giant roach was crawling across the floor and the waitress said she did not know what to do. She just ran away from it. She called the chef to come up and he laughed at her, and then went back to the kitchen. We sat at our booth and watched this giant roach walk through the restaurant and then into the kitchen while the waitress watched and would not get close to it. Sorry, get some pest control. No one wants giant roaches in their restaurant. Unprofessional on all levels. Why would you expect us to eat any food coming out of that kitchen.
