Great Greek Food and even better service

Wife and I went to dinner this past Saturday night. Were immediately greeted and advised there was about a 20 minutes wait. 15 minutes later the hostess came out to get us and took us to our table. Within minutes our server was getting our drink and appetizer wishes, promptly returned with our drinks and over 5 minutes later our appetizers came out. Server took our food order the food came out hot and fast. We were in and out of the restaurant within an hour. Our appetizers were superb, the main courses exceptional and all came out quick and hot on a Saturday night. The beer was cold, the white wine nicely chilled, the ambiance true Greek. Must mention the manager which I'm assuming is part of the family owned business. This young man did not stop the entire time we were there. He checked on each table and as he walked around the restaurant he looked at it all. He didn't miss a thing and it was obvious. Thank you My Big Fat Greek Restaurant for an exceptional experience. We will definitely be back time and time again.

PRETTY GOOD MEAL OVERALL

There are lunch specials available on weekdays from 11 AM to 3 PM. Outside dining can be done close to the highway or on the patio overlooking the water. This restaurant gets very busy for lunch on weekdays. I ordered from the Lunch Menu. I got the stuffed pepper, which came with a veggie mix of peas and carrots, a salad of fresh ingredients topped with feta cheese, and a potato slice. This entrée was proceeded by a basket of white bread that was fresh and a dish of hummus. The bread and hummus were brought to my table as soon as I sat down. The hummus was mediocre at best. It lacked flavor, was too spicy hot, and was mushy. I ate very little of it. As to the entrée, the stuffed pepper was delicious. So was the veggie mix. The potato slice lacked flavor. It needed some kind of broth or seasoning. Service was exceptional. My waitress was very efficient and very helpful. The price was quite reasonable. Lots of food for the money.

Another wonderful evening with friends. They ordered the pork chops on a bed of fresh spinach with peas and carrots. My wife and I ordered the pork skewers with Greek potatoes peas and carrots. We both shared Horiatiki salads. What can I say, everything was excellent. Finished it off with a cappuccino to make for a perfect evening. The best part of this experience was our server Alex who took our dining experience to the next level. He is the best. See you soon Alex and thanks again for a wonderful evening.

There are much better Greek restaurants around

Very friendly staff BUT the food is subpar. Moussaka was barely bad mashed potatoes on top with a thin layer of meat and eggplant hiding underneath. The gyro platter had good meat (usually comes from industrial pre-packaged gyros) served, same as the moussaka was, with a strange but definitely not Greek mixture of peas and who knows what.

On a Saturday night to be served within 20 minutes without a reservation is already a very good thing! And if the service is good is an extra ! The food very good real Greek flavor so it is a complete outing !

Our large party was taken care of by a terrific upbeat waitress, who rocked from beginning to end! dishes are quite large so you might want to share: spanakopita, roasted eggplant dish, grilled cheese, skewers... all great!!!!! The greek salad was a also a hit. The baklava was not the best one around, but it was still ok!!!!

I highly recommend this restaurant for the quality of their food, the service and indoor and outdoor seating on a canal. On Friday and Saturday evenings they have a belly dancer to entertain you and your family. They always bring you hummus with fresh baked bread that they bake as soon as you sit down. Their hummus is made with white beans and is phenomenal. We ordered the small traditional Greek salad that comes without lettuce which is plenty to split between two people. I ordered tzatziki and melitzanosalata with shrimp saganaki as my meal. My boyfriend had the stuffed flounder that was on special. I also highly recommend their octopus although we didn’t have it this time. Everything here is good. I’ve been coming for many years and never had a bad meal here. I highly recommend this restaurant.

This place is far far from Greek. We went here because of the trip advisor review. Greatly disappointed!!! I am Greek, and believe me when I tell you that is not Greek food. You can’t serve a quarter of a baked potato with olive oil and lemon over it and call it Greek potatoes. The place is dirty and the food is horrible.

GET HERE EARLY FOR LUNCH

I once made the mistake of coming here for lunch at peak lunch time on a weekday. The place was then packed. Parking spaces weren't readily available. The interior dining room was crowded. Forget about social distancing. So today I made it a point to get here shortly after it opened for lunch. Plenty of parking places. There's outside dining available on the covered patio by the road. It was lovely weather, and I wanted to sit outside. There's are also tables outside along the canal to the north, which is where I got a table that was isolated and had no other diners nearby. I ordered stuffed peppers, which were stuffed with rice and ground beef. Very tasty. The meal came with veggies, which were mostly peas, and came with Greek potatoes. Plain bread was part of the meal. Overall the food was good though not outstanding. The price was reasonable. Service was friendly.

Our Big Fat Delicious Greek Dinner!

Boy, is this place great! Right on a canal, this restaurant has some charm. The dinners we chose were excellent! The lamb chops (5) were cooked to order & delicious. They were accompanied by traditional Greek peas and roasted potatoes. What a treat! Hubby ordered a gyro platter & he was very pleased as well. The platter had a small Greek salad & smaller portions of the peas & potatoes.

If you want reasonably priced Greek food, this is your spot. Party of 5+2 was accompanied very nicely. A waterside table was occupied, so we were inside. Fast service and complimentary fresh bread and very generous portions of hummus. We sampled 5 platters and shared on the table: octopus platter, Spanakopita, Gyro, Keftedes, and Chicken Souvlaki. Plenty for all with 2 carry out boxes. Desert was a sampling of Galaktobouriko and Baklava. Soooo good that we ordered one of each to go!

Excellent Greek Restaurant

First Time there. When you walk in there is a blackboard that shows $40 items. Silly because there are many fair things one the menu! we hd mousaka which is traditional greek dish and I got huge stuffed peppers. represented with meat and rice but almost all rice but peppers were delicious. Other person got gyro platter which was huge and delicious. Waiter walked by with a huge greek salad. i will get it with appetizers next time. Nice location on a canal on griffen Road!

Very disappointed, they would not make me a chicken souvlaki on a pita with tomatoes and taziki . They said it is a lunch item only!! I went there for this specifically. I can’t believe they would not make an exception and provide the customer what they want!! I like this place but extremely disappointed that I had to accept a dinner that I don’t go there for. Not customer friendly!

Met our son and his girlfriend there for dinner last night. Nice place, outdoor seating with decent menu. My son liked his gyro platter and my wife's chicken soulvaki platter was good too. My son's girlfriend's salmon was OK, and my spanakopita was mediocre; I've had much better elsewhere. My saganaki was really good, though. We had a couple of bakalava's for dessert, and they too were just OK; seemed to be missing something. Danny was our server, and was friendly. When he brought the food out, everything came our at once, except my wife's chicken, which came about 5 minutes later. He didn't really check back much during our meal. Oh, they told me when I called earlier in the week that they don't take reservations, but there was a table that was reserved....... Overall, OK place, but next time we're in the area, we'll try someplace else.

Had a business meeting and ordered in from the My Big Fat Greek Restaurant. I ordered the My Big Fat Greek Greek Salad, romaine lettuce, vine-ripe tomatoes, onions, dill, feta cheese, olives, and extra virgin olive oil. Comes with a side of Hummus and pita bread. The salad is just ordinary.
