I thought I would give this place a second try as it is my local. I won’t bother with a third go. The food really is blah. Over salted, lack of authentic spices and flavours and overpriced for what it is. Sticky Rice, please send your chefs back to Thailand so they can be reminded of their country’s impeccable standards. This place would go broke anywhere in Thailand.

Very tasty but a costly takeaway for two

We were travelling with our dog and there were 2 benches out the front which we may have been able to sit at, but with a storm rolling in we didn’t bother to ask. Ordered 2 basic meals (not the chefs selection) plain rice and 2 beers, which was $85. A bit pricy for takeaway we thought. It was tasty but for that price I think sitting in the restaurant (which was buzzing on a Tuesday night) would be the preference

Busy sat night family dinner

We hadn’t been for a while so booked a 5:30 early sat night dinner, promptly and politely told by staff as soon as we were seated we had to be gone by 7:30 which was not a problem. Orders for drinks and meals were taken as soon as we were ready to order and on the table in good time despite it being very busy. Staff very polite and everyone happy with their food. It is a bit cramped when full and the bench style backless chairs a bit uncomfortable so might not suit everybody, otherwise I would have scored the restaurant a 5.

Just ordered chilli & basil with chicken. The chicken in it was awful and it didn’t even taste like chicken. It’s like they pre cooked the chicken and it had a disgusting taste. I cook with chicken all the time and that is not chicken. The meal was not cheap $18.50 and not worth it. I tried calling and no one would pick up the phone and all you get is a recording saying this mobile is not available. Very very disappointed and will never go back no will I refer it to my family and friends.

When in need of me time

In summary the Staff are amazing. Quick service. Taste phenomenal! Flavours sensational. Will definitely be back. The resteraunt is situated by the road which allows for off street parking. The view is okay, despite their being traffic there is not much noise. It's easy to locate and find. Good for a quick dinner, family dinner, birthday or even a first date. Drinks list had a number of nice cocktails, featured here is the special cocktail 'stick rice long Island iced tea'. Lighting is good and music not too loud, ambiance sets the mood. Meals were out in 10 minutes tops. Highly recommended 👌

Superb food

Have just visited Sicky Rice for the first time tonight. Can't believe why we have not been before. The food was as good, if not better than the food we have enjoyed in Thailand on our many visits. We were made to feel so welcome and given advice on the many meals on the menu. Lovely atmosphere and superb food. Will definitely be back.

Some good, some ordinary

Whenever I drive past this place it always looks busy so we went on Easter Monday. Pad See Ew lovely but the chicken stir fry pretty ordinary. Got a shock however to find out the prices on the menu are ex GST so a pricier night than expected. I don’t expect this style of pricing in Australia.

Take Away Due To COVID19

We ordered our pick up dinner from their website. It was easy to use and had no problems picking a specific time for us to collect. Delivery was also an option. The food was packed in take away containers with glad wrap over each container as well to stop any spills, so no mess when we got it home. The food was sensational, the flavours were amazing and the size of the dish was generous. Could not fault the food at all. Sticky Rice will definitely be added to our favourite place to eat. Can’t wait for COVID19 restrictions to be lifted so we can dine in.

Amazing amazing amazing! Full of flavour, always quick service and great serving sizes. Food always taste fresh and the kitchen is always willing to accommodate dietary requirements. The staff are always friendly and always happy! Can recommend their pad saparot and coconut rice.

Very disappointing 😢

Very disappointing 😢 We have dined here and had takeaway from this restaurant and never encountered any problems. However last night,yes it was NYE and we ordered a takeaway ,had them repeat it and we were told it would take an hour and be ready at 7.30 ,which was understandable at such a busy time so we said that’s ok. We had guests with us and everyone was looking forward to their delicious food. Went to pick it up and was told,Oh sorry your other has been lost and would take nearly another hour to be corrected. 😱We said forget it,such a shame and had to resort to KFC😂,luckily we had understanding friends and got on with bringing the new year in. Please sticky rice don’t disappoint us again .

Best Thai in Newcastle

We got to go back to Sticky Rice at last it was worth the wait . The staff were lovely but very busy . All the food that came out was so delicious and authentic. We all had a great night and the bill was so reasonable after eating so much. I recommend the spring rolls they are so good .

A friend recommended this restaurant as best Thai food in Newcastle. I would agree, the food was amazing, price reasonable. We would definitely return again.
