After a morning of swimming with some manatees, the guides suggested we try Grannie's. I'm glad we did.
When we first pulled in we knew it must be good food because the place was packed. People were outside waiting. We decided to wait as well....There was a little confusion between which line was for paying your bill and which line was for getting one of those pager pucks. After I got my puck though the waiting line moved very quickly and we were seated in under 10 minutes.
The waitress could have been Grannie but I didn't dare ask her at first. She was a little sassy but in a nice way.
I had catfish with hush puppies and iced tea. This also included two sides. I chose sweet potato and cucumber salad. Everything was delicious, but the catfish was really good. I actually ordered another order of just the catfish when the waitress came to check on our progress. By the time I was done eating my whole meal, I couldn't finish the second order. I ended up taking a fillet home with me for later.
My wife had chicken parmesan. She didn't even finish half of her meal and took the rest home. She said hers was very good as well.
I had homemade peach cobbler for dessert, even though I couldn't finish my meal. Everything else was so good I couldn't stop myself.
I can not recommend this place enough.More
Not too many small breakfast places like this hand out buzzers for waiting customers, but Grannie's does. Still, never waited more than maybe 10 minutes. Home cooking, simple, and good. Wait staff is great!
As we arrived at The Plantation for our stay, we noticed all the cars at Grannies and went there the following morning. We were not disappointed! Great waitress! I had the strawberry biscuit for my breakfast dessert and it was fabulous!,They only serve breakfast and...lunch and are closed Wednesday and Thursday.More
We had eaten at Grannies prior to COVID and it was good. Earlier this week we went and it was bad. Waitresses had no masks. Eggs were cold and bacon came greasy. Grits were cold. Won’t go back-bathroom was dirty. State inspector needs to visit...this place and soonMore
This was spotted as we were done with our manatee tour. So so good. Everything was homemade and delicious. Must get the fried green tomatoes. Ask for ranch to go with them. They are so good. We got the meatloaf and the country fried steak...and they were both perfectly cooked.More
