A friend recommended this place. I'm glad we took him up on the suggestion. The bar is on the Cortez marina; very laid back. Food portions were delicious and generous. The wait staff was very friendly. Best seafood so far.

Stopped in for lunch was was surprised at how good it was. Lisa was our server and was most accommodating and delightful. I had grouper rueben, which was delicious; husband had red royal shrimp which were to die for. Prices were a bit steep but...were finding that everywhere e we go these days.More

This was one of my favorite restaurants and when visiting the area I would always go at least 2-3x over a two week period. When I was visiting in July of 2021 I notice the quality of the food had really changed and the prices...had gone up (trust I know things are more expensive but the Fisherman’s Platter has gone from $23.99 to $25.99 in July to $28.99) but the portions have gone down and the quality has changed (not for the good). While visiting over the holidays I took some friends who were new to the area. I really bragged about the restaurant and what an embarrassment! My friends were like “are you serious? This is horrible!” The okra was one of my favorites and it tasted like flour dough. I asked the waitress what happed to the Okra and she said “oh, we bread our own now!” Well flour is exactly what it tasted like. I ordered the Fisherman’s Platter which was missing the stuffed crab and for $28.99 it was NOT worth the price. My friend ordered the shrimp and she could not eat it and took it to go. The next day I thought I would have it for lunch, she was right, it was horrible, how do you mess up shrimp? Anyway, it saddens me to write such a negative review on what used to me my favorite restaurant but perhaps it’s time to stick a fork in the place and move on. There are plenty of other great seafood restaurant options that are better. Good luck and good bye as I won’t be back.More

We went to the Stone Crab Festival today, and instead of eating there, we stopped in to the Cortez Kitchen. We each had a margarita (Boozy, very good). We then shared Buffalo Grouper bites and Fried Mushrooms. The mushrooms were delicious, fried perfectly and juicy,...the Grouper bites were amazing. Tender, with a perfect golden crust, a little heat, and what I believe was a house made Bleu Cheese dressing…so good!! Our server was friendly, food was fast, we will go back!!More

Wish I could give them a negative review but the site doesn’t allow it. Food was marginal and service was horrible as always. Additionally they added a tip of over 25% to the bill for 3 people. When I asked the owner about it he...said they don’t add a set amount which was a bold face . The food used to be better, not the service. Have been going there over 20 years but ever again. This place SUCKS!!!More

Cortez Kitchen is a yummy and efficient restaurant! When we arrived, there was no wait and as soon as we sat we were greeted. They had very cheap and cold beers! As an appetizer, we ordered the Buffalo grouper bites which came out quickly and...were very tasty! For the entrees, I ordered the broiled shrimp, okra and fries and my boyfriend ordered the lightly blackened mahi with the vegetables and coleslaw. Both entrees were delicious! It’s located right on the canal and had a good atmosphere!More

Second trip to Anna Maria Island with my young kids (11 and 9) and went here for a another crack after being totally underwhelmed in '20. It was a $50 mistake. I ordered the Seafood Platter for $26. It came with THREE scallops, FOUR small...shrimp, a medium cut of grouper. It was supposed to come with stuffed crab but that was somehow omitted. My sides were cheesy grits, which came out dry (crusted over) and tasteless, and okra, which was plentiful and, sadly, was the highlight of the meal. My kids got the standard kids' Chicken Tenders plate with came with three breaded strips and fries for $10 each. Bottom line: the food was unimpressive, non-flavorful and extremely overpriced for what could be a great restaurant with a cool local vibe. I left the restaurant very disappointed.More

Repeatedly ignored!! Finally waitress took our drink order as we asked for a menu. Waited 15 min. For our drink order. We asked again, twice for a menu. Finally got a menu. At least 3/4 hr. Later a different waitress asked if we had placed...an order. Finally ordered. Asked 3 times for ice for my drink as it was warm by now. Then out of the blue manager came over as my husband stated we were about to leave. Manager stated they are having staff problems. Within 2 minutes our food was there very hot and very good. Sorry will not put ourselves nor friends through this ever again. Too bad for this establishment.More

Prices are up and Quality is Down. I just had a grouper sandwich. The size of the fish couldn't have been more than 4 inches. It didn't even cover the bun! It was fried to a dark dark brown and tasted fishy! I used to...get a generous piece of fish fried to a light golden brown. The fries were dark brown and cold. What a disappointment for a $17 basket.More

We were there today at 17:50. They say to seat yourself, so we did. We sat at the entrance to the open seating and the waitresses serving that area passed us many times without regnising us or greeting us. At about 18:10, after having asked...who was serving us and being told, "not me." "NOT me" finally decided to take our order. I wanted to know if happy hour prices applied to us and "waitress not me" didn't know. She also didn't know what sauces came with the conch fritters. At 18:22 I went looking for the manager, who was the bartender. Waitress not me saw me and headed to get our drinks. By now my wife had left and I went and took the owners details from the bartender (manager) and left to find my wife in the parking lot. Other patrons were amused by our misfortune, to the point that it became obvious that this is a moron hangout staffed and run by morons. Been going there for years but assume that it changed ownership or management recently. Thirty plus minutes seated and still without drinks is ridiculous. Beach House or Sandbar here we come. The owner never answered their phone and there was a recording to "enter your pin." The place is a dead loss, with half asleep waitresses or waitresses so busy sucking up to those leaving that they are oblivious to the customers arriving. Finding that the bar lady is the manager explained a lot. She lacked the courtesy of a regular bar lady, let alone that you would expect of a nanager. Just a waste of time. Pay 25% more elsewhere and enjoy professionalism. Something has changed, even the customers look dumb now. Easily pleased might be the kinder description.More

Hubby and I had not been out much with covid around. We are senior citizens, We decided to go there for a late lunch because they have an open air deck. I avoided crowds by going for a late lunch. Service was terrific...Hubby ordered the...Grouper Sandwich. I ordered the 1 pound shrimp appetizer which was more than ample. They food was excellent, the weather as very nice (not too hot or cold). Overall, we look forward to returning -- soon!More

I have never seen anyone order one but the bartender's are amazing and I am sure that they could make anything that you could want.
