We decided to try out the highly talked about Mamey Restaurant in the new Thesis Hotel across from the University of Miami in Coral Gables. This was to be a birthday celebration for me, with my wife. The first thing , of course, was to find the restaurant. The restaurant is ensconced inside the newly built apartment building and hotel Thesis across from the U. Miami on US 1.
All I can say is, once we arrived at the general location, it took me another 15 minutes or more to find the restaurant. There was not a single outside sign. There was no internal signage. The massive garage ($6.00 charged by machine by credit card) had no signage. Only by asking several people were we able to find this place. We parked on the third floor of the garage, took an elevator to the 1st floor, and then walked (my wife in high heels) about 2 blocks to weave our way from the circuitous garage and passageways to the restaurant. I had to call twice from outside the building for directions.
We were seated social distanced at a booth in a very lovely room. Service was excellent. We shared a coconut shrimp (delicious), and two mains- a Niman Ranch Churrasco and a Peri Peri Chicken. Both were tasteful and well cooked and delicious. A margarita for me and wine for any wife. Finished off with a delicious rum cake and a single candle for my birthday. No allowance made for the birthday as far as extras or desert. The bill was $115 plus tax and tip, or $145.00. (plus $6.00 parking-no restaurant validation either).
All in all, I would say that going to this restaurant was a lot of work. I would not be willing to go through that rat's maze runaround again. Just give me a nice neighborhood restaurant with easy parking, and skip the BS.

I have dined at Mamey 3 times and every experience has been wonderful. The menu changes slightly so I was able to try different items each time. The cocktails area always unique and tasty. The small bites are incredible and the yucca chips and salsa NEVER disappoints. The main dishes have been great each visit. This time I had the churrasco and it was bursting with flavors. I haven't tried desserts yet, but I can only image their decadence. I strongly recommend a reservation. They have a rooftop bar with music most nights. Relaxing up there until your table is ready on the lobby level. The staff have all been very nice and accommodating. Note, they don't validate parking so the garage parking is an option but cost us $12 for 3 hours. I'm not sure the cost of valet and the street side parking is $1.85 per hour with pay-by-phone.

I coordinated my co-worker's 50th birthday celebration at their rooftop bar, Mamey on 3rd. Everything went perfectly! Flavio Nisti, one of the managers at their bar, helped with all the arrangements and assured me that it would be a wonderful experience. He reserved a section of the bar for all my guests. He wasn't even scheduled to work on the day of my event, but went out of his way to be there on this day and make sure everything went smoothly. The rooftop bar is absolutely lovely with a gorgeous view. It has a wonderful ambiance with sofas and all types of lounge furniture where you can relax and enjoy the sunset. There was a DJ with a great selection of music along with a gentleman playing the trumpet. They were both fantastic! Carla was our waitress and she never missed a beat! She was funny, attentive, sweet, quick, and was able to manage all our drink/food requests with zero issues or confusion. Their Happy Hour has a great selection of wine, specialty cocktails, and delicious bites (try the brie grilled cheese).

Wow, this place was Outstanding. I met a friend for dinner and we started upstairs for beverages. Turns out they had happy hour. I got the speciality Spritz that was a perfect balance of sweetness to bitter notes. My friend had the spicy margarita made with mezcal, she sucked it down so fast I had to try it when her second one came around. The smokiness flavor not only accompanied the food, it made me dance a bit. Maybe it was the live band. Our waitress was fantastic and recommend us to get some happy bites before heading downstairs for our dinner. We snacked on I think the best French fry, I’ve ever had, I know French fry! They took me to Amsterdam, I love when food takes you to special moments in time. Anyways, we also ordered coconut shrimp that I can’t stop thinking about. Shishito peppers blew my mind in flavors and heat in the best of ways possible YuM !! It was such a good time we ended up being 20 minutes late for our reservation. I was a bit worried yet reassured when we approached the host downstairs and she said not to worry our table was still waiting for us. The restaurant itself was so beautiful and tropical with a elegant yet charming feel to the space. The beverages were so delicious we of course had one more before ordering a nice bottle of wine. I was familiar with a lot of the wine and I appreciate that. For food we ordered the ceviche to start. WOW, it didn’t disappoint! It wasn’t traditional at all, it had flavors of coconut and a Thai spice that was out of this world. Topped with crunchy corn Perfection at its best! The Cesar salad came out next level and it was another home run.. The grilled cheese was good, flavorful and was accompanied by a great passion sauce. I personally felt for the amount of crispy bread it was lacking one slice of cheese but things happen it was still delicious. I almost forgot about the tuna tostones but how could I? The ratio of tuna and quality to the size of tostone was perfect. My friend insisted on the lamb, we are foodies and there’s not much I won’t eat yet there’s something about lamb that I avoid it. Following her advice we ordered them and they came out smelling Devine. The server recommended to put the apple on the lamb then enjoy. He sure was right the flavor combination happening in my mouth was succulent…
We finished with the grouper and red curry. I don’t know what is up with this chef but here I am sitting, enjoying and feeling like I’m in London eating some of the best curry I’ve had. I’m kinda speechless, this was such a grand affair and Incredible meal! I am spilling the T to all my friends. Mamey is the place!
BRAVO to such an outstanding team

This is a place that has soooo much potential especially with its location and setting! It has outside seating which is great for COVID weary customers and there are not many restaurants of this price range around....but! The but is quite big and because of it, we won’t be returning. The chef has a good potential but he is all over with ingredients.... too many, too contrasting which hides a good flavor. Good food doesn’t need so many ingredients. The service very average and then, the wine list is basic, very. If I have to say something good, is the cocktails and beautiful decoration. This is a place where they could have a charming restaurant for the neighborhood, but this is a fleeting trend. Sad, it is a waste.

We visited Mamey for a work lunch during the holidays and wanted to share what a great experience we had. Not only is the decor and outside seating in the breezeway accommodating, the food was fabulous. The yuca and plantain chips are the perfect opener to a Latin inspired meal. Talk about fresh, the ceviche was uber delicious. One of the best desserts in Miami is the rum cake served warm with ice cream.
Mamey is perfect for a relaxed or professional meeting. Highly recommended.

Lunch on a Thursday, ordered ceviche and the tuna tostones, both very good. The lamb was gamy and we complained that it tasted more like mutton than lamb, to which the waiter (super slow and not good service) replies, well, it is lamb. Did I mention service was slow? We had to wait over 20 minutes to order and even longer to get our food plus, we had to get up to get our waiter in order to get the check. A disaster. not going back.

I am so glad we stumbled upon this place by chance during a web search on places to eat in Miami! The menu is diverse, the flavors are carefully thought out and executed beautifully, and the service was excellent. Everything from start to finish was a treat. I myself had a Mamey Swizzle cocktail, and shared the shrimp taquitos, plantains in ghee, palm hearts salad, the Churrasco, and a rum cake. As I mentioned before, the flavors in each and every one of these dishes was superb. The ambience was beautiful and welcoming, and the service was excellent. We will definitely be back!

Reserved a Miami Spice reservation today, restaurant required a credit card. Did that, showed up early. Was seated..and then it begins. The service was horrible. When asked for flat or sparkling my friend and I both said club soda. After asking us 4 or 5 times between bus boy and server, they brought over 2 cans of Canada Dry Club Soda. Friend orderd PubBelly sandwich it was pure fat, told server and he said I'll let them know. Then took a while to get check, and I noted on check quality of food and service. Restaurant then told OpenTable that I was a "no-show". Restaurant didn't want my review. Shame on you...last time I try this place. Oh and let's not forget the $12.00 valet parking fee.

A total disappointment. Very expensive with total lack of culinary refinement. We really were ready for the type of spice and flavor profile associated with chef Patel.
The ambience is very nice but music could be softer. We tried different dishes. One couple was vegetarian. Very few options for them, they tried the Trini spiced cauliflower (basic and bland), white truffle and Brie grilled cheese (no comments), we then shared the Ghee roasted plantains (were actually ok but how can you screw this one up). We also ordered the Florida Key Wahoo ceviche which was ok but very minimalistic ( very little fish) and also tried the duck fried rice (greasy, bland and with the fried egg on top). Wine by the glass selection was limited and very overpriced. Deserts we tried the rum cake and cheesecake, both were fine. Definitely not coming back and not recommending it.

Went to Mamey for happy hour. We’ve been at least 5 times, so went right upstairs and sat at a table. Thirty minutes later, nobody showed up at our table. Finally a waiter passed by and told us they had a special function so there would be no service upstairs. Went downstairs and everyone seemed to be doing us a big favor. Nothing was open except for the bar. No happy hour at the bar so had to pay double for the same food that would have been served at happy hour. Very disappointing. Also, last time we had dinner at Mamey, we had a gift certificate for $100, but due to a “computer problem” they would only give us a credit for $93.

All around great vibes from the moment you step foot in Mamey. A beautifully decorated, clean restaurant that is a breathe of fresh air when compared to other restaurants with similar price points in the area. Was seated in an extremely comfortable lounge area, and had excellent service from our knowledgeable waitress throughout the evening. We grazed on multiple appetizers/small plates/and cocktails and didn’t dive into the entree section of the menu.
The lamb ribs were delicious; sticky & sweet with just the right amount of seasoning. Would have liked a few more but the price was definitely fair as lamb isn’t a cheap commodity. The broth the mussels were served in was sublime, and the highlight of our meal. And the toasty bread was a perfect vessel to soak up all of the delish broth. We split the key lime and rum cake dessert, both were extremely unique and equally well done. You could tell they have an extremely talented pastry/dessert program.
All in all a great meal, will definitely return.

Overrated and overpriced mediocre hotel restaurant. Service was slow on a very slow night. Waited more than an hour for food. Water was served room temperature in tiny glasses with unattended refill service. Parking at valet is cash only and $20. One guest and our party did not like the food and ended up ordering something else. Instead of removing the item from the check, they wrapped up the uneaten food and handed it to her in a doggy bag. Was charged $32 for that meal despite the fact that it was uneaten and sent back. We were a party of eight and made reservations to celebrate a birthday. When we arrived, the hostess had not even designated a table for our party, and we ended up waiting until they identified a place for us to sit. This was on a Monday night, and the restaurant was empty! I can’t imagine the service on a busy night. To add insult to injury, our bill included a 20% gratuity because we were a large party. Will not be returning to this establishment.

Ordered six dishes which ended up being over $150. Shishito peppers - fried but not crispy. Very ordinary and easy to make. Tuna tostones felt couple days old with soggy tostones on bottom. Tomato purée did not go with the dish either. Vietnamese chicken ceasar salad was appalling. Overcook chicken with no flavor and nothing about it was Vietnamese. Chef needs to repay a visit there apparently. Grouper was good but not worth $42. You can find a similar dish like that for $7 in asia or $17 max in other restaurants. Desserts were average.
